Now I think Columbus Short that played little walter in this movie deserves an Oscar nod. he was great in this movie. I love Beyonce in this movie as well but she just didn't do enough for me to prove that she deserves and Oscar nod. That's just my opinion!

Thank you! Thats all I was saying. Who honestly was convinced for one minute. It was Beyonce in a wig to me the whole time. You can look at that movie and tell it was all produced to make Beyonce look good. A bunch of mediocre actors and scenes from everyone else and give beyonce this big dynamic scene in the end. Its obvious to anyone who really knows and like movies and can critique. This movie was not very good and dreamgirls and all the others like it were much better.

No Im black and I love Beyonce, I even have her saved in my favorites. I love her as a singer but im not a STAN! She did a good job for the short period of time she was in the film, but its not oscar worthy IN MY OPINION. Why does that bother you?

Beyonce was in like the last 30 min and i nearly cringed her whole part. Her drug scene was a joke. And the only thing she did was curse heavy, cry and supposedly seduce.. Nothing new. Call me a hater if you want but you guys no the deal. Oh and Oscar my azz. If she wins an oscar money was involved. Stick to singing and dancing hun.

saw this yesterday.

movie was better than expected.

the makers did try to rewrite rock history and paint a picture of Leonard Chess as a nice guy. this is pure BS.

LC ripped off every artist on the chess label and put them pretty much in the poor house.

most of the musical performances were pretty darn good.

the weakest link was Beyonce. whom can't act and can barely sing. she can't even hold a note in pitch without vibrato.

luckily the movie shows little of her.

it's true. If you had any ear training, you'd be able to spot flat notes too. It's ok only those whom are trained can spot it so easily. sorry but the truth is the truth.

however the movie was pretty good, and whomever was playing Little Walter pretty much nailed it. Howling wolf as well. Chuck berry, not so much as far as the singing goes, but if you've ever met Chuck...

pt 2... as I have...the guy in the movie had him cold as far as his presence. plus, it seems you are more of a Beyonce fan than a Chess artist fan. If yoou truely loved the music of the Chess club, you'd be bashing Beyonce as well.

as for acting, good lord the guy playing the wolf, looks (and acts) like you could be looking at Howling wolf if he stepped through a time machine from 1959. eeerie.

one let down of the film was the absence of Bo Diddly. Imagine chess records with out BO...

the chess boys were some truely shady folks. they ripped off all those artists portrayed in this film. however the film shows them as "good guys" nothing could ever be further from the truth. and yes little walter realy did take the doors off his car because of the heat. what movie did I not see?

bugsy..that's actually quite funny (your comment about Little Walter and your having 'years of ear training' by your own claim), since here on a harmonica list i belong to, there has been much talk about it being Kim Wilson playing the Little Walter harp parts despite the actor's claims to the contrary. Why do you discount Etta James herself saying that Beyonce Knowles did a credible job of playing her? She's sung it live too with not a flat note in sight (or hearing). :)

pt 2... just go to my youtube channel and see for your self. I've been a music teacher for almost 20 years. I have written music instruction books that are published by Mel Bay. I know what I'm talking about on this one unfortunatly. I wish it wasn't true, but Beyonce sings flat. Unfortunatly POP music like Beyonce and britney spears just doesn't take much talent.
