I have seen rattle snakes bite themselfs on 4-5 diff occasions when they know there dying. Sounds weird I know but I have witnessed it. My father says it kills the meat so nothing will eat it, like a last stance method. And if it does(attacker) will die along with it.

Rattlesnakes might accidentally bite themselves in distressful situations but it is not poison, it is venom.you can still eat the meat, you can even drink the venom and maybe all you'll get is a stomach ache,the venom is made up of proteinases and enzymes, the same proteins that help you digest your food, kind of like modified saliva that break down cell tissue.I don't know your father but he is incorrect and I I feel that I need to state facts on the venom of rattlesnakes and pitvipers.
