Good info! I mean I know all this stuff unfortunately I learned when I was 13 or so and before that my poor deaf cousin had to deal with me talking to him and he'd always say "What? What? What?" :-P Do you know sign language?
Yeah, it can be kinda annoying at times, but we gotta live with it. When I go to university, or even beforehand, I'm thinking about learning to do sign language.
Good explanation. I'm high tone deaf, use hearing aid and lip reading. I find that some voice tones are a particular nightmare to listen to if the speaker's voice is loud as there's a sort of buzzing echo to some of the vowels and consonents which makes it hard to distinguish what they are.
Your speech is excellent for someone who's as hearing impaired as you are.
I get that sometimes, but especially with 's', not quite the same thing as you, but like it's really emphasized in my ear, I don't like. Thanks, a few other people have said that also. It warms my heart, lol.
I'm deaf... it would have been nice to have had subtitles on here. My daugher, age 13, told me about your posting. She asked if what you said was true (I use BSL and so does she). I think you're right in some of your message, most if it in fact, but it could have been longer and subtitled! Daughter tells me you speak well.. me too. I hate it, don't u, when people say "oh, you don't sound deaf"!!! LMAO! what's that about?!
when you're doing this video are you wearing the old-fashioned body-worn hearing aids, since you sho wyour 2 BTE's during the vid,and I like their colour!.
I'm getting my digi BTE hearing aids next month, for a mild loss but I'm impressed that you can still use headphones, what about using the headphones that cover the ears entirely, without hearing aids in and do they work for you?The in the ear headphones,do you have to turn the volume rael up high?
kool, i cant change the volume on these hearing aids but the volume is fine, i just turn the laptop volume up a bit, as for the headphones that cover the ears completely, i have to turn the volume up for that
my brother used to have grommets. which is were their is a small hole in the ear drum or smething like that. but he used to think his name was traceyisland and he called our mum wozzy.
lol mte u forgot about lipread and i get wot u mean by mumbling ang wen they speak loud i actually use to have a teacher from school i think was she takin the piss
Man, I got 65% percent hearing loss. It was really annoying in school as I didn't get tested till I was in the fifth grade and didn't get hearing aids till I was well into the sixth grade. Before I got a speach therapist from school, I had to teach myself how to pronounce from the dictionary.
through frequent ear infections as a child, hence scar tissue buildup on the eardrums. I hear at about 40 db. I can't hear a lot of background noises such as the kind household appliances make.
no i wasnt wearing hearing aids during the vid, normal people can hear 30 decibels as normal, i can hear summat like 60-70 decibels as normal, im not the most deaf person, but im not the least
Do you have a deafness lisp?
