  • basicaly it's just the old Simon game with a screen. ;)

  • how nice now more assholes are going to claim to be djs fuck this bullshit we real djs use vinyl

  • how nice now ore assholes are going to claim to be djs fuck this bullshit we real djs use vinyl

  • its no qubert ,its his lookalike.seriously people

  • this game is never gonna come out

  • simon says on steroids.....still pathetic

  • Everyone disliking this game shouldn't be DJing in the first place... Those pads his pressing are the beat pads, the red is for the kick, and the yellow is the snare. then when a scratch comes in, he spins the deck. If he was scratching the whole song it would sound like shit. I tried DJ hero and it was shit...

  • @ScrizzDubb

Screw you, DJ Hero had some of the best DJs in the world and songs in it.

I will take songs mixed by professionals.

  • button pressing hero

  • this guy makes this game look like shit

  • this looks more like beat mania. i like all them games. beat mania and DJ Hero and now this. i'll prolly pick it up.

  • RIP GURU _ALL DAY EVERY DAY

  • I heard they got hard time getting the license for the music so you might get less genre of music for the game. It gives you freestyle freedom but then again if I wanted that I get a real deck and do it myself the right way. So far from what I see it doesn't seem that fun. The game has to balanced, has to be fun and enjoyable but has to somewhat be similar to DJing. I already have Dj hero and its a great game, like it way more than GH. When the fuck this game coming out so i can try it??!

  • @sparda9060 it wasnt an issue of licensing.. it was an issue of activision buying out 7-studio, the developer, and taking all the source code with them.

they had a lawsuit against activision to get the source code back.. but then they had to hire a new developer and such

this game was suppose to come out long before DJ hero in 2009.. but activision was afraid that might hurt the sale of DJ hero so they bought out 7-studios

  • DJ HERO IS BETTER!!!

  • thats q-bert

  • bet you actually didnt know anyone certainly can acquire this for no fee? just google "ps3bigskydownload" and simply click the 1st link. my sister and i downloaded it yesterday on the cheap computer and have been playing is all afternoon!

  • @RuneNL haha tard

  • I've been a IIDXer for years now and this looks like it may be a good game to try to get some new graphics for my gaming. I tried DJ hero but was not overly impressed by it's challenge. Hopefully Konami will come out with a PS3 controller for IIDX in the near future.

  • big fail dj hero ftw

  • Dj hero is the shit get it! Not crap

  • fuck u dj hero is legendary ! its awsome im saveing money for it !

  • @TheMillionare13 save ur money and buy a pair techincs 1200's and a vestax mixer u lil kid

  • @TheMillionare13

    Get a real setup kiddo.

  • What r u smoking? SCREW U! DJ HERO IS THE BEST AND SCRATCH COPIED THEM! THEY EVEN WENT TO COURT BECAUSE THEY COPIED DJ HERO! DJ HERO IS SELLING MORE QUICKLY THAN SCRATCH WILL EVER! I MEAN HAVE U SEEN THE GAME? AND HAVE U SEEN THE CONTROLLER? YUCK!

  • I disagree, this game will probably sell worse, mainly because the title sounds unfamiliar and doesnt have the word "Hero" in the name. Then again, who knows.

  • I agree Hitmon, it's pretty much unknown, but I am still looking forward to this game. Also i believe it's gonna be more of a challenge, and who doesn't love numark? :)

  • this game will suck beuz i saw the soundtrack 10 songs really i hop they add more that game looks weird dj hero did a better job with the turntable

  • basically, dj hero shitted on this game

  • THATS DJ Q BERT!! woot

  • DJ Hero will be better

  • Is he even scratching?

Seems like the 5 buttons are getting the most action.

  • You CAN freestyle scratch, but most of the time those 5 buttons are keeping you too busy to even care about scratching.

  • DJ Hero for the win!

  • wtf

  • Cool. Terrible IIDX.

I'll stick with DJ Hero, thanks.

  • lack of scaratching ,djhero rocks more than this piece of shit, toyish looking

  • No offense intended towards this game's supporters, but DJ Hero is getting an average of 90 - 95% from reviewers...

I don't hate this game, but that's going to be tough to beat....

  • scratch the ultimate dj is supposed to be more of a simulation and for people who wanna be a dj and are to lazy to buy a real turntable and lessons so this is the closest thing to real other than dj hero wich is based on arcade

  • bullshit!..its only a game nothing like the real thing show me someone who djs with only one turntable and i will appaligize to you

  • TOTAL NOOB FUCKING MISSED THAT YELLOW NOTE IN THE BEGINNING.... LOOOSER

BEATMANIA ALL THE WAY OKAY. IT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT RHYTHM GAME TO DATE. GET THIS RIGHT.

AND DJ HERO BEATS SCRATCH ULTIMATE DJ.

DJ HERO IS AT LEAST INNOVATIVE AND HAS QUITE A GOOD SET OF MASHUPS BTW ARTISTS/GENRES.

    scratch wishes it was beatmania

  • What happened to the supposed "turntable spinning to the bpm" deal? rofl. BEAT-MAY-NEE-UHHHHHH

  • I guess this is the Rock Revolution all over again.

  • this game looks like shit :P

  • this game looks like PS One.

Also the scratching seems very unintuitive- I'll definitely wait to try it though. DJ Hero has my money though.

  • hey dont insult ps1 like that these graphics look more like sega geniss

  • I AGREE!

  • i started djing bout 4 months ago and imma stop just because of little kids thinking there "DJ'S"

  • Video games are cool and all but really if you are going to be paying money for something why not go all the way and just get a real musical instrument. Something that can actually benefit you in life.

  • Look the size of this thing O_O", you can't even control everything with your hands. DJ Hero is way better than this.

  • I totally agree. The turn-table looks so half-ass

  • how can he play if you pause it at the 9 secound mark you can see only a green light saying that the ps3 is on but wheres the blue light to say there a disc in there ?

  • yo true shit dude! i just noticed that!

    wtf???

  • Wait a minute.. Is that dj qbert?

  • GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

Now there's gonna be a bunch of faggot 12 year old white nerds with no lives that think they can dj.

  • exactly.. fucking gay

everyone is gonna think they are beatmakers.

    FAIL

get somebody to play this for 3 months and they still cant make an original song or have a good demo to send out because they are sooo good and "djing"

  • lol the person dancing in the game her feet are on fire

  • looks boring!

  • i love how everyone kept thinking that the GHWT and Rock Band 2 controllers wouldnt be compatible but they were. in this case, you do have to be rich of pick one game.

  • this looks ok, but by the looks of it u scratch MORE in dj hero....

  • gotta admit the crowd looks more realistic then DJH. i think i wanna get this it should be alil cheaper then DJH

  • o word?

  • woord..djhero is a house hold name they got clout to over charge ..ultimate dj is trying to make a name for themself it will more then likely be cheaper then DJH

  • kooool, im more interested in gettin that now. wish it would come out soon

  • yea maan i need this i use to dj in the 80s alot of hip hop..its funny to see this game when i threw a party in my yard it was just like that lol

  • Lol@ beatmania IIDX ripoff.

At least when I start seeing this at parties and such I can inspire awe in people by playing the hardest songs.

  • omg, this is realy childplay, no way to compare with djing -.- shut up you kids and get some real decks

  • Actually, Mix Master Mike help make this game, he said its pretty close to a real deck and the accessory is developed by Numark a real turntable company.

  • Comment removed

  • Yup, Scratch is going to be the better game because it's not pre-set in what you can do. Scratch is the only game thus far that will allow you to scratch freestyle without being limited to what the devs give you...

  • Well, it's not THAT bad?!?!

  • I WANT ONE!!!!!

  • when is this coming out?

  • DJ HERO WILL WIN!!!!!!!!!

  • naw,,, dj hero seems to have the actual better game, as in design wise,, but scratch has a better peripheral and song list

  • wow this looks booring vs Dj Hero

  • DJ is better than Scratch in terms of variety.

I love hiphop no doubt, but DJing needs variety. This game and hiphop is big on turntabalism and mixxing and sampling. But there still needs to be a variety in music genres.

And both games copied Beatmania IIDX straight up. Beatmania was the first DJ game and even, first rhythm game ever made.. first ported to arcades and then hit consoles in '97/98

  • ...but Beatmania wasn't fun.. like at all... not even a little bit.

  • somebody doesn't know much

your just afraid of a challenge

  • Yea, cause it's my opinion that Beatmania was complete garbage, I "don't know much". What an ignorant fuck. Dude, go do something productive.

  • FAG

  • No, Beatmania, at least IIDX, is NOT DJing! Not even close! It's essentially playing the piano with a DJ theme. You don't interact with the music and manipulate it like an actual DJ and how you get to do in Scratch: The Ultimate DJ.

Scratch: The Ultimate DJ is by FAR the best DJ game to EVER come out. Period.

Beatmania is simply a whole different type of game, at least from the DJing aspect.

You both hit keys in sync with music, sure, but Scratch lets you scratch, BM does not - BIG diff

  • meh..

    and DJ Hero > Scratch.

DJ Hero has a better interface and new concept.

Scratch looks cheap. Graphics look ghetto.

  • No way! DJ Hero has a PURE CRAP interface compared to Scratch. With Scratch, you can ACTUALLY SCRATCH!

With DJ Hero, you're just moving a piece of plastic to PRE-DONE scratches; you're NOT putting that much skill into it, and there's NO way to express your own creativity besides hitting a few *horn* noises every now and then.

Also, with Scratch, you actually MAKE THE BEAT! With DJ Hero, you just sample, which is lame.

  • You're missing the point. These are games! Not music creation tools. Fair enough you have more freedom in scratch, but to what effect?? It sounds rubbish. It seems as if this game is more about the beat. With a turntable thrown on the side for making scratch noises.

DJHero goes along the path of every other music game out there. It keeps the same ingredients that make the other games 'fun'! It gives you a benchmark to aim for, so you will spend the time practising until you nail it perfect.

  • Also, if you really want to make some beats. Then there are far better things to spend your money on than this.

  • No, YOU'RE MISSING THE POINT!

In actuality, this game will TEACH you how to make beats in terms of coordination and conceptualization of pressing buttons in the right area, speed, and syncopation.

This game, essentially, is a PROFESSIONAL music creation tool with it's supposedly EXCELLENT scratching capabilities, sampling capabilities, and potential for making your own beats.

Believe me, if you've ever played Beatmania, then you will LOVE this game and it's awesome creative edge. This owns.

  • This is far from a PROFESSIONAL music creation tool. Compare it to Reason, Ableton Live, Cubase, pro tools etc. And this is clearly just a sub standard GAME.

Yes the game can teach people how to make a beat, but how many people do you know that bang out a beat in one go? Most will use a loop adding new bits to the beat as the loop passes. Which makes this whole GAME pretty pointless, as it's a useless music tool in reality, and a pretty poor game.

  • When you can sample your own stuff and scratch and manipulate that audio-file to what seems to be the point of respectable and excellent accuracy makes this game - or piece of music software - and respectable music-creation tool and instrument.

Secondly, this game will teach people the proper and necessary finger dexterity into programming a beat using a beat-machine, such as the M-Audio Trigger Finger.

Look dude, I've made beats using such devices; this game is quality and educational.

  • Lets dissect your last paragraph.

"Look dude, I've made beats using such devices; this game is quality and educational."

I've been drumming for about 7 years. So I've used many different drum kits, as well as beat machines.

This game is not quality. It was abandoned early development. And they are now trying to rescue it.

As for being educational, it's only a small step along a very long path.

I'd say rock band 2's practice mode for the drums is better for learning beats than this.

  • So now you're being inaccurate in your quotes. How cute.

I'm only telling you from first hand experience as a real musician.

I'll just continue to laugh at your biased and quite frankly ignorant statements.

    Have a nice day :]

  • WHO THE HELL LIKES EDUCATIONAL GAMES?

  • Also, just because you can scratch on this game, or DJHero. Does not mean you will be able to walk up to a set of decks and scratch properly. All it does is give a very basic introduction to somebody who knows nothing about mixing and scratching. While trying to make a fun game.

  • Unlike DJ Hero where you follow simple, half-realistic scratches - as well as them all being pre-rendered - this game allows YOU, the MUSICIAN, to CREATE your OWN scratches, THUS YOUR OWN SOUND AND MUSIC!

I ALSO DJ - as in scratch "wikki wikki", maybe you've heard of it? It's awesome stuff.

Anyways, not only does this game teach you the basics, but with a crossfader and a turntable controller MADE BY NUMARK - a VERY respectable DJ equipment manufacturer - you can learn the real art.

  • You are just making yourself look a fool. I don't know any DJ that will use them. Because it's a game.

How many DJs currently touring do you see with numark decks? Most of them are using technics, it's been the same forever.

Scratching isn't really my thing, but my best friend used to DJ amongst quite a few big names. And he knows a lot of well respected scratchers. None of them would take this serious.

These games are not made for people who have experience with any music creation.

  • You're ignorant; any REAL musician or DJ would realize that Numark as made some VERY respectable products - look up the NS-7 - and with their latest technology that they supposedly integrated into this will make this game and software a respectable instrument to at least practice on as well as HAVE FUN AS A GAME TO SCORE POINTS BY BEING ABLE TO FULLY - READ AGAIN: FULLY! - DO WHAT YOU'RE ABLE TO DO IN REAL LIFE IN TERMS OF SCRATCHING!

    UNLIKE DJ HERO!

Deal with it, this games great.

  • Dude, everything in DJ Hero is realistic.

    OHNESTLY, I'm a DJ too.

Plus not EVERYTHING that numark has is great. Just Most of it

  • i'm a dj also and this game looks like a side project of dj hero... "ooh u can create ur own beats so this is for real dj's" no a real dj has the equipment or atleast the program at their disposal to create real beats with an infinite range of sounds instead of whats preloaded in a game... dj hero is for fun.., this game looks more like work to me. if i want realism i'll go hook up my real dj equipment otherwise i want fun

  • lol side project of dj hero, it came out first.. just cos you're familar with the hero franchise. They absolutely assed dj hero. re-slapped new skins on guitar hero and went WOW dj game, done. Nothing innovative for the DJ.

Watch the clips I posted to relik2009 above.. sorry i just think scratch udj will be the win ;)

  • Yeah like the scratch is really realistic with my hand movement on scratch sounds. Queue play scratch sample. BAH!

  • man theres no way ur a dj if u say dj hero is realistic. The gameplay is fake, the graphics are fake, and the controller is SUPER fake.

  • DJ Hero is boring as hell and has bad music

  • Dude, the scratching in this game sounds terrible.

and also: how fun is it to press buttons and scratch now and then?

    Honesly, doesn't look that fun. . .

  • Hmmmm, Beatmania has been doing it for years and has a shitload of fans. Does that answer your questions?

  • thats whats real about it it looks so called ghetto

  • It's good to see someone recognizing that about beatmania/IIDX. I can't stand when people call them ripoffs of other games/etc.

  • Gangstarr my nigga

  • I would get this if it didnt have crap music. Dj hero it is...

  • how do you know what music is on it?

  • every single video ive seen on it has rap shit, i want some damn techno, drums & bass, something else damn it....

  • Me too! Actaully i want it allllll!!! *fart* excuse me

  • haha i want some techno too but i dont mind the rap and i think there will be other music too but just wait till later when their close to being finished =D

  • If you prefer electronic stuff, why don't you invest in Beatmania IIDX instead? It's the same gameplay as this (not so much with DJ Hero), just with different music <_<

  • its on wiki

  • Look at beatmania IIDX, too. It's on it's 16th version because it's just that good.

  • GANGSTARR

  • Okay, now that thing is more a copy of Beatmania than DJ Hero.

  • this game come first than DJ hero , this game is a copy of beatmania , and DJ hero is a copy of this and beatmania

  • Why is this stupid video in the Auto section?

engadget must be a real dumbass because he can't figure out where the Music section is on Y/T.

  • I am trying to keep in mind that this was HOPEFULLY the easiest difficulty. Maybe the upper end will rely more on the disc/scratch wheel?

  • wow this looks so lame

  • Despite the boring video I'm still excited for this game. I'd like to see more advanced gameplay, and more liberal use of the scratch wheel. seeing as how the game is titled Scratch.

  • This looks like some 80's NES accessory ...

  • getting a real set of decks is almost as easy as far as learning is concerned and you wont get board of it in 2 weeks......

  • or if you have been into music games on the PS2 FreQuency and Amplitude. OR older than that IDX / IIDX.

    ipod has no original games

  • This looks way less complicated than DJ Hero. Sadly, it's too simple to seem decent. Reminds me of Tap Tap Revenge for the iPod

  • Nah, DJ hero isn't complicated. Actually it's easier, it's only got 3 buttons instead of 5. =P

  • Well, by more complicated, I mean DJ Hero is more than just pressing buttons. And yes, I got the 3 button part :)

  • Nah, not really. The only difference is that you have to scratch when you press the buttons as well. The crossfader is only introduced in hard difficulty and onwards.
