The song is about a poor old lonely homeless man, with no home and who is very sick, whom people think or so think that he is a pedophile but in reality he only wants someone to help him out, but the people around him look down on him for what he is. And in the end of this song, he sadly dies, from the cold winter. This song in general is truly a good emotional song and is awesome to listen to.
@CaptainHurricane Not meaning to start a flamewar or anything on this beauriful song, but possibly the fact that this sentence may symbolise the way the world around the old man sees him?
@CaptainHurricane No the opening part is told for societies view of the old man the switches to his story so its kinda like a don't judge before you know what its like...

There are some amazing realities about the Bible but none as fascinating as the fulfillment of Prophecy. The Rock Phenomenon is one of them. Is it described symbolically in Revelation? These bands are described as tormentors of certain persons who were not Christians.Rev 9“hurt...only those men which have not the seal of God ... And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented..and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.”
I say give Jethro Tull credit... every lyric is not slurred or muffled; indeed I can understand every syllable down to the phoneme level. Even my parents can understand every word, and they are over eighty years old! I've yet to see a modern band that can reach that criteria.

What do u ppl think u do when u comment on a video its ur own personal comment on what u think about the video so I put my own input u don't like it again ignore it I don't why it bothers u guys so much. Again Metallica and Jethroll tull can't be compared that's my opinion. Enough I don't care what anyone has to say about what I say so grow up and stop arguing with it.
Cant compare in the sense of different genre's and from different generations of rock/metal and the associated sub genre's.
Note also the themes are different in the lyrics and writing styles, the musical side is completely different. Metallica opting for heavier and more intense Riffs while Jethro Tull Opting for more laid out and varying pitches.
Metallica is METAL,I classify Jethro Tull as folk Rock personally.
@HeavensOfMetal I'll stick by what i said, namely because most metal bands of the current generation take inspiration from Metallica,Metallica started a whole new generation of metal bands like Trivium,a7x,btf,dragon force. they all take bits and bobs from metallica.
Jethro Tull's lyrical style is folk, its written like a story being told with elements of poetry in there. thats folk rock.
anyway enough of that atleast we can agree its fucking awsome!
@Stag2506 dude, were can i start when you say current generation, it doesn't mean anything because there are countless styles on the current generation, the band you mentioned are just the more mainstream bands of the current generation, and the only band which has early thrash metal influences is trivium, all the others don't, a7x takes their influence and base from metalcore, and dragon force is power metal, a genre which doenst share many external influence whith thrash metal
@Stag2506 metallica is given way much credit than they deserve, people say they created thrash metal, when in fact there were thrash metal bands like venom before them, and metallica is also given credit for the continuation of the thrash genre, but it wasn't taken from them, but from earlier black/thrash metal bands, also metallica is given credit for death metal inspiration, but that inspiration was taken from thrash metal bands like krater and slayer
@HeavensOfMetal actually you do sound angry... just calm down man. and i dont really care about credit, thats why im doing bad in my english class cuz i dont like to do "citations" on my essays
@Stag2506 Lady Gaga takes inspiration from Judas Priest, that doesn't make her a Metal act now does it?
I can't call any of those bands Heavy Metal, mostly Screamo and warped forms of modern Metal.
You've missed it in terms of music, you've just went and called most all bands Folk Rock bands, listen to how the music goes, listen to the VOCAL style instead of the lyrical style and try see where I'm coming from when I say progressive.
@HeavensOfMetal metallica's first albums were metal, not only the first one, ride the lightning is as heavy and fast as the first album, i agree after the the black album the rest of their albums weren't metal, or at least not the metal they played at first
@Stag2506 dude rap is a good genre, maybe you're talking about midstream pop rap, but first old school rap had some great musicianship and lyrical message
Good for you humberto gillian lennon I don't care if you like jethrotull I Like Metallica they are better if you don't like what I say then don't respond toooo it. My opinion u don't like it OH welllllll!!!!!!! Get over it and everyone else.
You can't compare jethro tull to Metallica cuz they sound way different and Metallica is better anyways. I don't like jethrotull too much but this song I like the beat toooo it gets stuck in ur head the beat to this song.
@NeedHim6543 "You can't compare jethro tull to metalica cuz they sound way different and metallica is better anyways." Quite the invalid argument there. Personal ideas stay in your own head please :)
@larawora What? It would be great if you could spell something. I like the song, and I listen to it. It's something I just noticed. Calm the fuck down broski.

Again Metallica and Jethroll tull can't be compared that's my opinion. Enough I don't care what anyone has to say about what I say so grow up and stop arguing with it.
NeedHim6543 3 months ago
@NeedHim6543 Agreed.spot on!
Either way Legendary Bands! FUCK RAP!
Stag2506 3 months ago
@Stag2506 Little correction, Jethro are Prog rock, and only Metallica's first album was remotely what I would consider metal.
HeavensOfMetal 3 months ago
@HeavensOfMetal I'll stick by what i said, namely because most metal bands of the current generation take inspiration from Metallica,Metallica started a whole new generation of metal bands like Trivium,a7x,btf,dragon force. they all take bits and bobs from metallica.
Jethro Tull's lyrical style is folk, its written like a story being told with elements of poetry in there. thats folk rock.
anyway enough of that atleast we can agree its fucking awsome!
Stag2506 3 months ago
@Stag2506 dude, were can i start when you say current generation, it doesn't mean anything because there are countless styles on the current generation, the band you mentioned are just the more mainstream bands of the current generation, and the only band which has early thrash metal influences is trivium, all the others don't, a7x takes their influence and base from metalcore, and dragon force is power metal, a genre which doenst share many external influence whith thrash metal
MrMig3 3 months ago
@Stag2506 metallica is given way much credit than they deserve, people say they created thrash metal, when in fact there were thrash metal bands like venom before them, and metallica is also given credit for the continuation of the thrash genre, but it wasn't taken from them, but from earlier black/thrash metal bands, also metallica is given credit for death metal inspiration, but that inspiration was taken from thrash metal bands like krater and slayer
MrMig3 3 months ago
@MrMig3 You can't give Metallica ANY credit at all, as Dave Mustaine wrote most of what was on the first album, which was their only Thrash album.
Metallica deserve nothing but coal for their terrible lyrics, agonising vocals and out of place guitars.

@HeavensOfMetal hey take it easy man who cares who wrote whos music. just listen to this, the good stuff
stoutishpayload 3 months ago
@stoutishpayload "Take it easy"? Do I sound angry?
And I care, I think the authors own work should be credited.. Don't you?
HeavensOfMetal 3 months ago
@HeavensOfMetal actually you do sound angry... just calm down man. and i dont really care about credit, thats why im doing bad in my english class cuz i dont like to do "citations" on my essays
stoutishpayload 3 months ago
@stoutishpayload Stop patronising me.
Well if you're doing bad in English it shouldn't be an excuse to say "I don't care about crediting"..
HeavensOfMetal 3 months ago
@HeavensOfMetal well i can considering its a class where we basically only write essays haha...
stoutishpayload 3 months ago
@stoutishpayload Story of my life, this whole term we've only wrote essays on poems, gone through almost 15 poems now I'm sure,
HeavensOfMetal 3 months ago
@HeavensOfMetal agreed completely, mustaine gets the credit for the decent music metallica did on their first couple of albums
MrMig3 3 months ago
@Stag2506 Lady Gaga takes inspiration from Judas Priest, that doesn't make her a Metal act now does it?
I can't call any of those bands Heavy Metal, mostly Screamo and warped forms of modern Metal.
You've missed it in terms of music, you've just went and called most all bands Folk Rock bands, listen to how the music goes, listen to the VOCAL style instead of the lyrical style and try see where I'm coming from when I say progressive.
You said it, Jethro all the way.
HeavensOfMetal 3 months ago
@HeavensOfMetal metallica's first albums were metal, not only the first one, ride the lightning is as heavy and fast as the first album, i agree after the the black album the rest of their albums weren't metal, or at least not the metal they played at first
MrMig3 3 months ago
@Stag2506 dude rap is a good genre, maybe you're talking about midstream pop rap, but first old school rap had some great musicianship and lyrical message

Luxmaxnike 3 months ago
You can't compare jethro tull to Metallica cuz they sound way different and Metallica is better anyways. I don't like jethrotull too much but this song I like the beat toooo it gets stuck in ur head the beat to this song.

@NeedHim6543 "You can't compare jethro tull to metalica cuz they sound way different and metallica is better anyways." Quite the invalid argument there. Personal ideas stay in your own head please :)
