you got GENIVIEVE NAJI who was featured on OPRAH along with a couple of BOLLYWOOD stars , americans are not really exposed to this industry and its only just emerging to them whereas in the middle east, the carribean and south america they have been following nollywood for yrs.. even yoruba and hausa films as long as they are translated , however it is the english speaking films coming from ibo peoples that have the most audience share now, because they are accessible and easier to understand.
fact is, african artists dont find it easy breaking the us market which is pretty much closed off to them .. infact the only way they can break the us market is by being a niche brand. very difficult to go mainstream, unless you either change like RIHANNA DID to appeal to the mainstream audience, or just concentrate on a select audience branding.. american market is notorious in that aspect, most foreign artists cant break thru when they do the rewards are HUGE but its RARE. especially for US

so they are going to show africans as they really are not the way foriengers love to portray us , we are strong, independent, and have a very positive "can do " attidute . i love our films both the nollywood and yoruba films that i have been watching for a long period of time, from back in the day when yoruba films dominated the market and most ibo films were in the language not english speaking like now. i can only hope that the films continue to be true to themselves and tell our stories .

the industry is evolving and i hope, in turn the production values which need much work, and improvement will be of a standard that will make them more accessible to a much wider diaspora audience world wide.. the audience for nollywood films are from the middle east, carribean , south america and lately the market has been getting some exposure in north america and that is mainly due to the oprah programme when she had some nollywood stars out there. our films are about the african viewpoint.
