Hehe, it actually was MY last star, too. My technique: Since the coins are patterned diagonally, then just follow them diagonally.

lol silly, it's just a game. everytime you start, it's set up so youre able to play the final level again.

You will have to play the final level after you collect 120, again, to unlock something new.

Collect 120 stars with Mario then do the final boss again. After you've done the same thing with Luigi you unlock the Grand Finale Galaxy for both Mario and Luigi which contains the 121st and final star.

An easy way to complete the level is use the jump spin technique and try to only go on spots you need to. Also go to the spots where there are the most coins.
