  • i didnt like the music. but other then that i loved this one.

  • I judge the movies for what they are and this is the weakest movie in the series along with the book

  • I read all the books over again and watched each movie after reading each book, and i really think Oder of the Phoenix was the worst adaptation from book to film. For someone who has not read the book i think the movie is rather useless as far as depicting what the general feeling of the book was. But thats just my opinion.

  • this one was the most intense, darkest, and violent film of the series, and the BEST

  • I actually like the fifth volume x)

  • Sorry for double commenting, anyways but why does everyone say this movie is the book exactly? I don't think any of you have read the book because this movie didn't explain anything at all with it skimming through the entire story of this book. Also Harry was suppose to struggle A LOT this movie.

  • i actually agree with both these guys...i watched the 1st 5 movies b4 reading the books and liked the first 4 but not the 5th...after reading the 5th, it was my fav movie...with HBP, the book was the 2nd best (next to DH) but the movie was dreadful...

  • oh yeah uhmm HBP they really should have inclued the battle scenes (maybe that would have been enough action for this guy over here). Ah and i did like this movie i was just a little ticked off that they didnt show ron play quidditch and what not oh and the weasley swamp in school. I've seen it in the video gaME and it's awesome

  • this one was better than half blood prince film i hated that.

and also before people critisise it read the books i sure have

  • seriously that guy needs to read them XD

  • Lol, he didn't read the book, i thought so.

  • This move ROCKED SO FUCKING HIGH THAT THAT METHOD MAN AND RED-MAN TOGETHER CANT GET THAT HIGH ROCK FUCKING FIST WAY UP IN VOLDEMORTS ASSS

  • i'd give it a minor rock fist up

  • my favorite movie

  • this movie was pretty good

only that POA(3) and GOF(4) were better, but still a good movie and certainly better than the first 2

i think the franchise has been very well handled and the movies have been as good as they could possibly get

  • i have admit that i agree...mostly. i believe that the first 3 were the best, the 4th one kinda went down the toilet.......and the 5th one was a lot of fun!the books rule!!

  • Ok, I'm sorry, but the third movie was completely wrong!!!!!!!!

  • great review. funny to see a harry potter fan and a non potter fan argue

  • The book had enough action, had they not changed a thing it would have been much better. But it was a light show, I was very disappointed. They ruined the Sirius death scene, the prophesy scene, the Department of Mysteries scene. Everything!

This is just my personal opinion, while they did get characters spot on (Umbitch and Luna) overall I was not happy with. Also worried about the 6'th movie as the directer is the same.

2 ROCK FISTS DOWN FOR ME. This HP fan was Not impressed.

  • I agree with you. I was dissappointed by both harry potter 4 and 5

  • I need to tell you that the 5th movie was the best one when it came to being faithful to the book

  • @TheKnightOf0 Are you serious? The 3rd movie definitely, personally the 5th skipped out on a lot but still good for the book being so big

  • It's

    50/50

    on everyone

  • to my point of view from a person that hasn`t read the books (witch i want 2 do but havent got my hands on a single 1 of them) this movie is preaty good allthow the lack of battles (sweet wizard battles if u want 2 lol )and the krapy atemt of putting a sort of love story in the movie besides the fact that most of the movie everybody is training so that in the end only the main charactes would fight. but i dont know thats my point of view so id give tha movie a 3 and a half or even 4 star

  • ps. harry potter and the goblet o fire is the best till now for my taste

  • i didn't really like that 1 i would say chamber of secrets

  • Most definitely, it followed the book almost exactly.

I would be supprised if this directly even read the 5'th book, he probably just skimmed.

  • sweet ass wizard battles. lol

  • i like the movie but wish it was longer. it seemed like they just flew through every scene and didnt stop to explain anything. like with the snape scene ( a crucial part of the story) they chopped it down to like 3 seconds and left out info and now its going to be hard to explain some things in the last book. thats only one example though.

  • the movie sucked completly to many hangers

  • all the action is due to the books not the director, and it is an average movie, there's no way it can be better than the book which brims with action and crap

  • the guy with the gnarly facial scruff knows wut hes talking about, this movie was sweet...period. and yes i HAVE read all the books

  • this movie wasn't so good. It's a TV movie, it doesn't have any action AT ALL. rockfist down for me.

  • you need to read the books. and order of the phoenix is the best book.

  • I'm also blinded in harry potter love because I thought both the book and movie were GREAT!! Harry Potter ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

  • The guy who hasn't read the book totally hated the movie.I agree with him that they left the main plot of the story out which was the "prophecy". But otherwise I liked the movie but i liked the book too.The fight between DD and LV was kick ass and so much better then star wars.and it wasn't just wand pointing.

  • As for the story: Nobody believed Harry because minister Fudge was busy using the wizard media ("Dayly Prophet") to discredit him. Fudge plays the role of the petty politician, more concerned with preserving the status quo than facing the fact that he might have to lead a war. Only when this war actually does break out right on his doorstep does he face the truth and is impeached immediately.

This clear things up for ya? ;-)

  • Maybe the movie should have done that.

  • Yeah, it probably should. But they had already cut out loads in the first film, and here the book is twice as long. I didn't watch it, so I don't know what else is missing from the story. I don't think the story can be told properly in your average 120 minute films.

  • why does everyone think that Azkaban was such a great movie? It was horrible. Alfonso Cuaron absolutly ripped it to shreads. It was destroyed. I think OOtP was fabulous, visually. It was so good. Definatly my favorite of all the movies, and Goblet was a close second.

  • I can't agree with you more, Azkaban was a unique book, and the movie was unique in its horrible-ness. I read the book for the 4th time just before I saw the movie and the movie hardly follows it. Stupid reviewers who probably never read the book praised it for its "darkness". More like vagueness. Crap...:(

  • it was dark...and there were parts that i really liked...the time turner scene for example was really well done. i was wondering how they were going to show such a complex scene. but...cutting the explanation of the marauders map to show the tree beat the shit out of some bird? ridiculous!!

  • I know! If someone doesn't read the book and just watches the movie they don't really get what a really big meaning it is for harry's patronas (spellings bad XP) to take the form of a stag.

lol why was the tree/bird scene even in it? It didn't even have a purpose!

  • i agree that this was the worst book

  • i think they should totally make the 6th and 7th better seriously they ruined the movie i was so excited to see it and it wasnt even that good!!! I think they hsould make the 7th one a bit longer since its the last one!!!

  • stand alone this movie was CRAP. it was rather disjointed, i don't know about u, but i actually went with people who hadn't read the book, and they were confused to holy hell about it. and what was with the whole Luna romantic sub-plot, did anyone else notice that?

  • And apparently the guy in this vid calling the movie average missed the whole part about how the government and people are AFRAID to accept the fact that Voldemort is back. It's a political fear/control thing, and it's definitely not a new or difficult concept to understand.

  • How did you got this info? What couples do you like in Harry Potter? I like Hermione Granger and Harry Potter I really think they go together. Do you think that Susan Bones have a chance with Harry Potter? If you ask me I do not think so.

  • I liked Prisoner of Azkaban (filmwise) the most until I saw Order of the Phoenix. My complaint about POA is that, while I like Cuaron's style, it had a little too much artsy, random stuff in it for my taste. I loved the acting in that one...except for certain parts that were absolutely atrocious.

I felt like Order of the Phoenix balanced out pretty well. I didn't have too many complaints.

  • if you're going to analyse the harry potter movies like CINEMA then tey're ALL crap, because the idea is to make a visual ilustration of 500-page-books in two-hour-movies; so you indeed HAVE TO READ THE BOOKS. By the way, this movie really sucks and the best movie of the series is "Prisoner of Azkaban", the only one with a sense of environment and suspense.

  • I AGREE ALFONSO CUARON DID A BETTER JOB

  • these two guys are the stereotipe of the fat nerd who thinks that the movie replaces the book because he is to lazy to read

  • yea but they should have atleast one quittich match, plus, quittich has to be in it, cuz when they win the cup, is when ginny kisses harry, and it also plays a big role in haryr liking her. plus, he finds it weird that malfoy doesnt play

  • I'm totally agree with JD. This is not my favorite Harry Potter book, but i think the film was pretty amazing. Still, my favorite directors is Alfonso Cuaron (and not only because I'm mexican hehe) and i hope that he will be the director for the last one, cause Deathly Hallows is the best book of the series. Great review

  • i read it, and i could tell you, snape, dobby, mad eye, hedwig, fred, crabbe, voldemort, bellatrix, lupin, tonks, wormtail, colin creevey, die. but im not going to.i think i might have forgotten some

  • love the book, hate the movie.. i pretty much thought the movie was pretty dull.. nothing happened for me, but if i picked my fave scene.. i would say its the scene where the order battles the death eaters.. other than that.. its was pretty plain for me..

  • personally.. i think that the books are 100 times better than the movies..

  • The thing with Fudge saying "Oh, he wasn't lieing!" Well, it was told, by Sirius, that he knew he was back all along! He just didn't want to face the truth! And he had to face it when EVERYONE sees it! And wait, is one of you saying that the end battle scene with the Order and the lights and the black and Dumbledore and all wasn't cool or it wasn't doing anything? Oh, wow....I totally disagree. I thought that end fight scene was better than all the fight scenes in Star Wars COMBINED!

  • ...oh and Harry Potter is WAY better than Star wars!!! I hate Star Wars.

  • I hate that Snape's worst memory was cut! That was my favorite part of the book! Rickman does not get enough screen time!!!!!!!!!

  • snape's worst memory isn't cut, they just show it in a diffrent way, harry dosen't look in the pensieve, he just casts protego and sees the memory. but the the scene is so short that it dosen't do the book justice at all.

  • It isn't that they necessarily didn't believe Harry. They just didn't want to believe him.

  • the movie DID NOT STAND ON IT'S OWN. Far to much left out of the plot. Far to much refitted. The entire 'profacy' thing was ingored and left out. HELLO, Nrvil was a HUGE part of this and was left out.

  • I completely hate that Fred and Harry didn't get to beat the SHIT out of Malfoy!

  • Man I was waiting for the scene. Man what a rip off that we did not get to see Malfoy's ass kicked. And what is the deal with HP giving LM the orb. WHF! I should have never crab that book in 5days before I saw the movie.

  • I hate when they say the 'theme' the film takes was good. They didn't nicely show Harry growing up. They put blatant scenes in emphasising the 'theme' they choose completely off of the book- e.g Harry shouting for no realisitc reason. Utterly unsubtle.

This isn't so much a review as a narrative.

  • He shouted in the book, too.

  • Nothing like in the way it was presented in the film though. Fair pint though.

  • Yer I dunno if I agree with you lol ... I felt that "anger" was a major theme in the book, and that the film makers depicted it pretty nicely. I get what you mean about "shouting for no apparent reason" lol, but I guess this time we aren't the ones literally *reading* Harry's mind :P

  • that's ok though i generally like the films more when i haven't read the corresponding book for ages

  • the dude who hasn't read the books? Read them, you sound like an idiot. Other dude? Just ignore your worst half

  • Ur mad! This was the best book!

  • tonks is my hero

  • Tonks is my hero too even though in the movie she barely said anything.

  • Go Team Westerburg High! World series of pop culture Rocks!!

  • Haha, these guys are great. Good review.

  • What was wrong with the book? Chamber of Secrets was my least fav.

  • @MynameisJohnP same

  • best book and best movie

  • the last one was the best book, the 5, then 4,6, 2,1,3

  • they basically found out he wasn't lying in the middle when they creatded Dumbledore's army. That's a dumb complaint.

  • I'm a huge, huge, obsessed fan of the books. Really, I am. But despite the huge changes I can't deny that this was a good movie. Considering how much had to be cut (since it was the longest book in the entire series) I think, for the most part, it was done very well. (Although I think they'll hit a snag or two with some foreshadowing they left out...) But it's spectacular and now my favorite of the movies, all the heart-wrenching cuts aside.

  • i thought that the movie was crap... i dunno wether people who havnt read the books would like it but i love the books and the movie didnt do the book justice at all this time... no climax no suspense... nothing compared to the book or the other movies

  • They can't put EVERYTHING in the movies

It would be 10 hours long

  • they dont need EVERYTHING but they completely change stuff. dobby finds the room of requirement, not neville, they completely cut quittich, they shoulda just made it a little longer and put more stuff, if number 6 doesnt have quittich im gunna be mad cuz they havent had it since movie 3 and book 7 has nothing to do with quittich

  • Love the book. heard the movie is supposed to be great. P.S READ THE BOOKS. Any of you people who watch and like the movies should read the books. Even if you don't like the movies read the books any way because, in my opinion, a movie can never totally live up to a really great book.

  • this is the best harry potter film i loved the book and i loved this film

  • Yeah this movie was bad ass and really dark....awesome!!!!

  • The best book, the worst movie. Absolutely terrible.

  • Defense AGAINST the Dark Arts, not Defense OF the Dark Arts. But I'm picky.

This was actually one of my favorite HP books... I haven't seen the film yet, but I'll watch it after the hype dies down a bit.

  • shut up "fluttery thing" and let the beard man speak. If you didn't read the books, then keep your shitty opinions to yourself. Book wasn't my favorite but this movie takes the cake

  • Good review! It gave a really good idea of what to expect.

But just for the record, I thought OOTP was the best book.

  • I totally agree with the dude with the beard, this was my least favorite of the books but my most favorite of the movies, kinda weird but the movie kicked ass!! WAY better than the book

  • The films have never really impressed me, but I didn't hate hate or really dislike any of them either. So far I've like the Prisoner of Azkaban the mostt. Well as long as its entertaining and I'm always looking forward to seeing where they go storywise from the each one.

  • lol good review. I'm seeing it later today. I've never been too fond of the Harry Potter series. I read the first 3 books(liked them, didn't love em) and I should probably read the rest. My expectations for this one aren't too high though I have heard some really good things. I don't know. Maybe the big Harry Potter fans will actually dislike while the average moviegoer such as myself will enjoy it quite a bit.
