  • I found Rick Perry's theme song!

  • Thumbs up if you came here because of Sideshow Bob.

  • The Duke of Edinburgh gets a new title The Lord High ... Executioner? Made (off with his) head of The Supreme Court!

  • Just posted a video response... I'm the viola girl who posted below. Check it out!

  • One: Who else is here because of the Simpsons' episode "The Bob Next Door?"

Two: Who else pictured Ogami Itto popping out and killing all these guys?

  • @Terrakinetic

    Two: Toshiro Mifune in Yojimbo.

  • that is a lot of white guys

  • 怖~い!妖怪みたいだわ・・・

  • @kmnozoh Haha, pretty similar. It is the early understanding of first western guy who study the eastern culture. Pretty scary as you said.

  • This is simply beautiful.

  • Yup, darwin's dangerous idea.. cheers

  • OMG, when I was in high school I was totally in love with Martin Savage in this movie. Then I researched the real George Grossmith, printed out his picture and put it under my pillow at night. And my locker at school had pictures of Koko in this movie. So did my viola case. He, is my dream boyfriend. YES.

  • @periola : Nerd alert! (but of course, it takes one to know one!) ;-)

  • Anyone else been at Darwin's dangerous idea :)?

  • I dont recall seeing this in the movie. Could this have not made it into the theatrical release?

  • @DanS24106 I think it is in the film, just after you see Gilbert getting the idea for the mikado when the sword falls off his wall.

  • An absoluetly brillent film in every respect. The performances are uncanny, every one of them. It is an ode of love to G&S.

  • Can anyone tell me what the name of this production of The Mikado this is?? thanx a lot. :)

  • @jonamation247 , it is a clip from the film "Topsy Turvy" a 1999 movie about Gilbert & Sullivan's work in creating the Mikado. I highly recommend the movie.

  • not going to happen droog

  • I was in the 2nd ever School performance of the Mikado!

  • I'm in the pit for it :)

  • @CityRuler1 are you 102?

  • I think he probably meant his school's performance... or maybe he is 102

  • no, im 13, the performance was 3 years ago.

  • wow - you are over 100 years old?

  • Brilliant. Savage is the Alec Guinness of his generation.

  • Savage is just incredible as Grosmith. Totally nails the minor details, like Grosmith already having been famous, coming into operetta from the music halls, etc. He and Shirley Henderson are incredible in this movie.

  • Are his silver fillings accurate? It's too glaring to be a anachronistic error.

  • Wait... so this is a play within a play?

  • This clip is from a movie called Topsy Turvy about Gilbert & Sullivan (and Carte, etc) writing and producing the operetta The Mikado. It's a "backstage" movie set in the time it really took place. Late 1800s.

  • @smog718 Well, a play within a movie.

  • Love Martin Savage as KoKo & his snickersnee!

  • Were doing this at school at the moment and i'm annoyed because i didn't get a part.

  • hmm funny im annoyed at my school for doing it in the first place lol

  • I played the executioner back in my school days. 20 years later and I still remember the lyrics.

  • grosmith DOES rule!

  • favorite song from the mikado.

  • Grosmith Rules!!! I love how this movie develops all of the priciples' stories, but Grosmith (Martin Savage) was my favorite.

  • @yimme- Funny, I was just thinking he looked like a Cardassian.

  • Ahha, were doing this play in my School, I'm Pitty-Sing. :p

  • or even Pitti-Sing

  • Best damn film ever. :)

  • Haha Ko-Ko here reminds me of Data from Star Trek

  • Great movie...great song...good stuff.
