  • Chris Cheney from the living end does an amazing cover of this song.

  • Just an underrated band. Love this group, love this song. Thanks for posting this.

  • Along with James one of the most under-rated bands of all time. It's a shame most people know only their hits. What a wonderful song. CH have wrote so many. Right now my life is not so good and it's hard when you have lost hope. But listening to the boys from Te Awumutu reminds me that there are beautiful things in this world worth living for not matter if you're broke and single! RIP Paul Hester.

  • when i see this now and i see paul waving near the end it brings a tear.

  • Love this, and love crowded house. so very under-rated, some of the most beautiful melodies and lyrics. @ finn94, one of my fav tunes ever as well.

  • @zelotalot my dad brought me up with crowded house and im now the young adult who steals their cds off him and goes an listens to a beautiful and articulate perspective on life! these guys are magically wonderful and painfully honest all at once. tough me alot! this song is for kevin who i miss everyday, still so young and somewhere, travelling so far xxxxxxxxxx

  • Seven worlds will colide, whenever I am by your side <3

  • An Absolutely wonderful band. Extremely gifted musicians. Just don't ask them if they'd like another piece of chocolate cake...

  • Great song, but check out Tim Christensens version. It´s not often I like copys better than te original, but Tim´s version is FANTASTIC !!

  • They don't make them like this no more!

  • One of my favorites...

  • Oh, Neil....every time I hear this want to thank you for that couplet " I don't pretend to know what you want/but I offer love." Seriously, one of the most underrated songwriters ever-how many can write a song so simply, so pretty and catchy? Not many and not often with the same quality. He had me years before this with "Message to my Girl". This guy knows his way around an achingly beautiful melody. Still one of his best songs, this...

  • @fetishalchemy hes rated in the top100 song writers in modem times...as is his brother tim..its just that outside the music critics.. Kiwis.. and aussies..not many have heard of the mighty finn brothers..another great line of theirs i find was...where ever their is comfort their is pain...from their four seasons in one day song...i grew up listening to these guys now i see my kids taking my old CDs into there rooms and playing this music.. :)

  • Together Alone - the perfect album for kicking back to in the dark, on a balcony on holiday after a scorching day.

  • Please someone tell me when Brooke Fraser became man.

  • another shite day over........a couple of beers, a listen to this song & everythings well again........untill tomorrow......:-(

  • i had this song on my ipod for ages but kept skipping past it for some stupid reason. but when i was in my car this morning it came on and i swear i nearly stopped the car so i could just listen to this song without any distractions. It took my breath away

  • this song is so beautiful.

  • "I don't pretend to know what you want, but I offer love..." ,,my God, what a line. Breathtakingly beautiful xxx

  • Absolutely beautiful.13 people have no soul.

  • check out Tim Christensen's version! amazing!

  • @H0E0M0G14

    blasphemy

  • @jackypurts nope, Crowded House should be so very proud of having him covering their song :)

  • @H0E0M0G14 i like it but i prefer brooke fraser's cover

  • 2:25 - 2:32 has to be up there with the best song lines...

  • If everybody heard this song, the world would be a much better place

  • oh my god, this so fucking good. Greatest song ever; maybe

  • Australia and NZ have equal claim to this band. Just enjoy the music.

  • @jackypurts and pav

  • i grew up in the US with no idea there was this amazing band called crowded house out there. guess i have eddie vedder to thank for introducing me.....and now i'm hooked. greatest band in my life.

  • Turn up the volume, please.

  • Makes me proud to be NZer, best soft rock band ever.

  • They're New Zealanders, not Aussies

  • @burnstagger ACtually 2 of the 3 were Aussies (2 of 4 if you include Tm Fnn)

  • Aussies Rule.

  • the lyrics to this song are effing genius

  • tune.... enough said...

  • as time slips by.well 3:54 just slipped by but what a great way to spend it.

  • massive memory of my first band i was in and covering this song. I will always love it for that.

  • Fantastic song! Sounds so fresh!

  • I love this song.

Always good to see the smile from the late Paul Hester.

  • *it's easy to forget what you learn......waiting for the thrill to return....."

  • 13 people clearly have something against the kiwis xx

  • I was late to discover the hidden treasures of Crowded House, was bought the Greatest Hits in 1992 or 1993...loved it so much, went and bought entire back catalogue and now one of my all time faves. The lyrics, the heartfelt delivery and the hypnotic tunes combine to make total life moments..this is my all time best..makes me stop and listen and feel that wrench inside every time I hear it.

  • er,no, cock bum fanny doesn't sum this song up at all. try a bit harder next time. strange cunt that you are.

  • Great song. Easy and memorable.

  • Their songs are as timeless as the human condition.

  • I don't pretend to know what you want, but I offer love...my fave lyric ever. Perfection if ever I heard it :) xxx

  • @dakota0706 Neil Finn writes much perfection... You are right though, that lyric is awesome, gives me goosebumps

  • alrite im a big black metal fan, but i still like crowded house

  • ...OK, my friend and I went through the dramatic Nick/Paul embrace frame by frame several years ago, and she swears they didn't just hug but kiss.

  • Very good!!!

  • saw them at ADOTG Villa Maria, Auckland, last Sunday with Supergroove supporting. What a brilliant afternoon. Magic singalongs and lovely wine.

  • lol your all not alone! iv been a fan of theswe for years! got missus into em tried to see em on tour whilst travelling australia(they were in england) got back to uk and F*ck there in aus/nz PLEASE stay still neil i want my missus to see sum quality!

  • My favorite song of all time. I saw this video in 1994, and it was like getting hit in the chest with a sledgehammer (but in a goods way.) Thus my love affair with Crowded House began. I shared this song with everyone I could find. Nobody cared about it, and I couldn't understand how you could not absolutely love this song To this day I stand alone with my love of Crowded House.

  • @finn94 You are not alone.....I love love love Crowded House and I am so disappointed that I missed out on getting a ticket to see Neil Finn at The Scala in Kings Cross in April.....heartbroken

  • @finn94 your not alone

  • @finn94 no. you have at least 794 standing with you.

  • @finn94 you're not alone, believe me.

  • @finn94 hey just thought i would say you are not alone on this one...i liked crowded house before this song...but i love this song!! I bought the cd the very first time i heard this song...it is a really great cd...lots of great songs on it!!

  • @finn94 you are not alone!!!!!!

  • @finn94 I agreed with you ...always love them since ...split enz...probably the voice of Neil or the way he writes songs ! So the chords too ...Bye !

  • @finn94 That's a real shame. I know how you feel, though, I'm pretty much alone in my love for these guys, too. My family likes them because they've heard them through me, but people around me have barely, if any clue who they are.

If you don't love this song, I concur, there has to be something wrong with you. It's a beautiful song from a fantastic band who really should be a hell of a lot more well-known.

  • @finn94 OH no you're not alone in the dark ! I'm a french Canadian , Quebec and I love their music since their first moments ! ...1981-2-3....At least we're two ? what about Weather with you ? or Not the girl you think ...? there's so many !!!

    Bye !

  • @finn94 Ditto absolute perfection

  • great year to getting into music with albums like these

  • I don't pretend to know what you want <3

  • This video reminds me of Losing my Religion

  • @locololas It does have an R.E.M. quality to it, doesn't it? I noticed it after just a few seconds.

  • Terrific song... They gave you a good feeling when they came on the radio all them years ago...

  • Ah, the 90's. The decade when music was at it's best.

  • breathtaking, its an emotional journey just to listen this song, it leaves me drained but totaly uplited at the same time,. musicaly , it is sublime , lyricly its pure genius,

  • Still so young to travel so far

Old enough to know who you are

Wise enough to cary the scars

Without any blame, there`s noone to blame

This will go somewhere on my body one day. I love how much I can compare myself to this lines, plus I am a huge crowdies fan since I am 12 years old, I don`t think I would do something wrong =D

  • if i coudl like this song a million times+ i would!!! my favoriteee!

  • Neil Finn wrote such wonderful hooks. Really infectious grooves. Lyrics that engage the head just right. Among the best pop writers.

  • Спасибо,друг.хотя ты и не понимаешь по-русски.

  • wise enuff to carry the scars without any blame theres no one to blame...

  • majestic, i fuckin' love this song. if ever i get around to dying this bastard's playing at my funeral.

  • @thefattestwombat awesome comment!

  • @alternatereality85 thanks mate.

  • @thefattestwombat Crowded House are actually on my funeral list too! Actually, the list is getting quite long now!

  • @leoniesmith1982 ha,ha,well hopefully you will have plenty of more years to keep working on that list! you might end up with a funeral that resembles an all tomorrow's parties festival.

  • @thefattestwombat ...... totally with you on this one wombatdude!

  • @thefattestwombat I do agree!

  • @thefattestwombat Don't rush it, tho, Wombat ;)

    p.s. bet i'm fatter :D

  • @JayGOS117 ha ha, nah certainly not in any hurry. p.s. thanks for the moral support regarding my weight problem. my self esteem was taking a battering!!

  • @thefattestwombat Agree!

It gets me in the gut every time...These boys can really write a tune...

  • @thefattestwombat I know what you mean. My mom just died earlier this month and at the funeral I'm going to read the first verse and chorus from CH's 'She Goes On', which is so pretty I almost don't have the words for it. Thank you, Neil.

  • @wildsmiley sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. we only ever get one mum and i know the day mine is no longer with us i will be completely devastated. they say the two strongest emotions are love and grief and no doubt you showed plenty of both during your eulogy poem. take care.

  • @thefattestwombat Brill - "if I ever get around to dying". Don't hurry it now, there's too much good music to listen to, especially from this great group.

  • @spindrifter2 thanks mate, and believe me, i've got no plans on heading to the big round-up in the sky anytime soon :)

  • @thefattestwombat

    look forward to it

  • real music !

  • Love Crowded House - love seeing them live - love the fact that they refuse to be a nostalgia act and still release new music. Their current album Intriguer is a classic - check it out if you haven't already.

  • this is my BEST ENZ SONG EVA

  • Dust from distant suns shower on us everyday, pretty profound when you think about it.

  • @fairlanejay - indeed - neutrino's would be the correct terminology. But yes, very profound.

  • Yeah - one of Neil's finest....and probably in my top three CH songs..

Still get a bit choked to see Paul... Love the new CH material but the band had that something special when Paul was on the skins... No disrespect to Matt who is a fine drummer and musician.... If I had my time again I'd like to come back as Neil Finn. God given talent...

  • @ahpollyolly i love this songg so so much, but old ch had such a different sound than it does now, he just sounds like he's doing some solo project. i dont know but i swear neil finn sounds different in split enz, crowded house and doing solo stuff !

  • It amazes me that there are only 12 notes - but Neil Finn has this genius to arrange them into numerous masterpieces of melody. Someone bought me Temple Of Low men as a present years ago before I really knew what CH were all about.. I was hooked in a few plays and have been a massive fan ever since. As Neil gets older he's maturing in style and direction. Much like Mr McCartney he'll never re-create the past glories of the original band - certainly not without Paul Hester (R.I.P).

  • Niel.. I love you! before, now and forever! .. you are THE poet ...

  • Mark Hart is such a great musician. His guitar work (especially in the bridge) is just gorgeous. Plus he so cool and quiet.

  • beautiful song

  • this song ,fall at your feet,4 seasons in one day, my most played tunes.they make me feel gooooooooooooooooooooooooooood.love it.

  • One of their strongest, most underrated songs...

  • Such a beautiful song....

  • i love so many songs, but i think i can honestly say this is my fave song ever!!...im not sure why?...there is just something remarkable and uplifting about it!

  • Great song. Crap video.

  • Such amazing songwriting and musicianship. I swear it almost makes me cry just listening to something done so well.

  • they are a band i have seen a couple of times - they are still one of my favourite bands - sad to c paul hester tho - but they were trye genious

  • great song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great Track , brings back a great time in my life.

  • love this band

Like a christian fearing vengance from above.

  • my favorite song of all time!

  • Brilliant! Brings back wonderful memories for me. "Your seven worlds collide, whenever you're by my side"

  • Long Live Crowded House!!! TALENT, TALENT, TALENT! Reject all others with whom there are no ties with the aforesaid, or with whom do not match the genius of such!! Fucking perfect they are!!!

  • lovely

  • Saw them at Oxford last night - trust me, they are right back on form! If you get the chance, catch them on this tour - they were truly superb!

  • Nice tune!

  • Paul on Bari Sax! Awesome!!

  • My favourite Crowded House song!! Great song x

  • These are still the BEST live band I've ever seen! It's just a pity the new stuff isnt a patch on their old stuff. This brings back memories of my childhood and me and my Dad driving in the car singin along

  • @Josh2809 They've only released one album since they reformed, and Neil said that Time on Earth was them still trying to get back on their feet and get used to playing with each other again, so it wasn't as strong as it could have been. Intriguer will be brilliant though.

  • @Anon371 I could not disagree with Neil more, Time on Earth turned out to be brilliant. I am looking forward to Intriguer as well, still up in the air if it will top Time on Earth though from a fan's perspective. Anything they do is brilliant in my opinion, this is real music by real musicians who's passion show's in their work, not like the crap that gets played on the radio. Lastly, Together Alone was such an amazing album, glad CH is back in full force.

  • wow, the blonde hair... weird! not used to that intense colour, but Neil still looks hot! :-)

  • How anyone can click on the thumbs-down is beyond me.

    What a great song.

  • Timeless

  • Great song!!!

  • me encanta esta canción. Rosita está loca por ellos.

  • "Still so young to have travelled so far, old enough to know who you are are. Wise enough to carry the scars, without any blame, there's no-one to blame" - special lines for me

  • Love this song...great lyrics x

  • this is an awesome tune!

  • Super tune..:-)

  • this is a great album it came out the year i was born

  • This possibly my favorite song of their's

I love it In fact Together Alone is my favourite of their albums

  • they have too many good songs to have 1 favourite.

  • Wish you well Paul. Hope you are somewhere good. You created beauty.

  • I don't pretend to know what you want, but I offer love.

My favourite sentence in all the pop songs in the universe.

  • that is one of the most beautiful lines in a pop song ever. kinda makes me feel sad and happy at the same time.

  • The best Kiwi duet yet!...

    Betcha thought they were Ozzies!

... check out the next generation, Niels sons -> Betchadupa

  • I'll always love Crowded House but this is my favourite track :-) @craiglegrice

  • genius

  • The Finn brothers are New Zealanders with a strict Irish catholic upbringing, or so there greatest hits album tells me, you can tell there tims lol

  • I love this song, Crowded House have always been one of my favourite bands since I heard of them back in the early 1990s

  • Crowded House is an Australian AND NZ band considering that the band has a mix of nz and australian members. The band was formed in melbourne Australia but the lyrics contain references to New Zealand places.

  • the debate never ends, the band has had aussie, nz and american members, and to be honest theyre all talented and it wouldnt matter if they came from the moon. Can we all just get on with appreciating the songs?

  • How did a video about a pop song turn into a religous argument in the comments? Ah, youtube...

  • I find it so funny how when people comment on you tube they instantly become experts on the subject in hand its so funny...

  • This song is not about divinity at all, he's using religous fervour as a metaphor for his love for the woman and the impact she has on his life. Listen to the damned lyrics.

  • *sniff* listened to this for the first time when I got ditched by my old girlfriend, brings me to tears every time, but a highly underrated band, they r awesome

  • Unfortunately... there is no god... Look at the world we live in. We all are our own 'god' and it is we who have control of where we go, what we do and the future we head to.

  • 'switched 101' -- I respectfully disagree with you. My own life experiences have lead me to believe something much different...

  • that's ok.. each to their own.

  • @switched101

wow! if only all religious disputes were this peaceful and respectful!

Have you guys ever thought of getting a job in the UN?
