Just saw a missed approach of Virgin Atlantic in the Caribbeans....The airport is very close to my home, so i can see all the flights landing and taking off ! This is the 1st time I saw something like this since the 8 months I have been staying here !
I work at London Gatwick airport airside and our base is right next to the runway. last year I saw an Emirates 777-300ER get within 20ft of touchdown then he pressed the go around button - we get several go arounds a week here I can even see them form my living room as I live next to airport.
Very nice, standerd miss approach for a 777 & heathrow which is gear up flaps 5/15/20 depending on your speed rate of climb etc, climb to 3,000 with the RDR HDG from ATC :)
you did a great job, and posting the reason for the go around was nice too. i am a still photographer, but i do like to hear ATC, and the noises that go along with a landing or departing aircraft. good job on a good video.
this happened to the plane i was in i was returning from my Disney Trip And Then when i was about to land at Toronto Pearson The Pilot Abort Landing because A Plane was Lining up with runway.
Omg how much i love engine sounds aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah Thank you very much ,,, SUBSCRIBEEEEEEED !!! keep posting such a nice videos like this ,,, we <3 you
Greetings from SIngapore! Just want to say thank you for filming and uploading these top quality videos with raw sound! People who love to spot planes around the world had to pay good money for videos of plane action at airports around the globe in the days before the advent of the internet.
The quality of your videos are just amazing. Thanks again!
The reason for the go around was that Air Canada sucks so bad and the airport authorities did not want this sad excuse for an airline at it´s airport.
I used to work at a small airport and I saw some aborted landings, one particular evening a dc9 was coming in from the north and he put the plane down right in front of the terminal, the end of the runway was about an 1/16 mile ahead.
When the people got off they were all upset, when the crew got off they were talking about the extra free thrill ride they gave the customers...
@mcpcshowcaseHD I totally agree with you. It's definitely not something you see every day, at least, not me and I'm a frequent spotter. I guess 1234Pipo is a little bit jealous of your beautiful videos. I also enjoyed the 747 Go Around. Where exactly did you stand? It looks like Myrtle Avenue to me or somewhere else near Hatton Cross.
@fastest2000 Sure. A Go Around is performed when it is not safe for the aircraft to land - maybe because it isn't configured right, because of poor weather conditions or something being on the Runway. Most aircraft have a setting known as TOGA which stands for Take Off and Go Around. By selecting this mode the aircrafts engines are taken to full power so that the aircraft can climb away from the airport. I hope this explains it. Let me know if it does/doesn't.
A Boeing 777 - 0:15 raked wingtips, 0:13 the tip of the tail where the auxiliary power unit is located is somewhat square looking not round (767), what about the landing gears? 0:16 it's definitely a 777. a 767 only had 8 main landing gears compared to this who had 12.
Its easy to see that this is a 777...Except the engine size, look at the wheels guys. The 777 has triple set of wheels..Its the only one with triple wheels.
@Vorox144 Air Canada do have the 767 but this is definitely a 777. Notice the 6 wheels per main landing gear bogey (767 has 4) and the tail cone which is flat at the end (767 is pointed).
Unrelated I remember when I saw the A380 do an aborted landing in Toronto, and it flew over my house, usually they don't do that, they fly on the other side.
Just retraction on schedule. Pitch to SRS flybar, verify positive climb, flap to twenty, gear up, go as instructed by ATC and the missed approach procedure. Hope that answers your question. =O)
Because according to Boeing documentation, maximum flap setting on either initial approach or go-around is twenty degrees not thirty. If you leave the flaps positioned at thirty, you'll get a "gear-up" warning. That's why on the checklist, you proceed to flap twenty, then twenty-five or thirty after the gear is configured for landing. ; )
@TheJeffreyklm Sooo true!!!!!!! I live very close to KJFK and When a 777-200LR/ER or 777-300ER fly over my house during take off I don't need to look out my window. The sound speaks for itself :)
Your the idiot grotter50...."This it's an Boeing..." You can't even make a comprehendible sentence. Think before you criticize. Not an Airbus....No winglets. Very nice vid mcpcshowcaseHD.
It was likely the continental that was slow in clearing the runway. Heathrow gives what are called "continuous decent" clearances to pilots which mean all aircraft have their speed regulated very stringently during the entire decent. It is also unlikely that the AC jet was fast because Heathrow routinely separates jets well below minimums and if one aircraft is fast, it is made noticeable far earlier in the approach.
GE's sound like jet engines and nothing more. Rather a boring but, I grant you, pushy whine. I'm afraid the opposition, meaning that company based in the same country as Heathrow airport (not a good airport in my opinion) produces a noise that is more like music than (as someone mentioned on Youtube) a vacuum cleaner on steroids which is I think the best description of this engine. No, come on chaps no offence.
Doesn't change the fact that the GE90-115b is a superior engine. all that noise is only fun to listen to when you aren't sitting beside it for 10+ hours. not to mention the superior fuel burn and lack of icing problems that have plagued the Trents. Oh and not to forget the most important thing, to quote a well known British journalist.... "POWAAAAAAAAAH!"

VIR092 1 year ago
@VIR092 why not just leave it at 30?

Because according to Boeing documentation, maximum flap setting on either initial approach or go-around is twenty degrees not thirty.
