McGuinn nearly joined the Wilbury's after the death of Roy Orbison, but was working on a new album and couldn't do it. Would he not have been a great addition to the Traveling Wilburys?
didnt want to be a Byrd, he and Roger were just great friends, so they always jammed together, check out King of the Hill off of Back from Rio, they sang that together
@LittleDragon2000 Roger and The Byrds were great! Yes, and this video is also a proof that they still break many hearts. TPetty still produces new rocks/pops, good as ever!
@28if I beg your pardon? According to me Pete Seeger is no more than an employee... Nothing against him but I'm afraid uncle Bob plays another league...
@blindwilliehighlight OK I'll play. So why are Bob's songs always more popular when covered. Maybe he should have been in the Brill building? Could you see the Monkees doing say "I Want You" with Davy on lead vocal. Maybe with a spoken word on the outro? "I want you to buy my lunch boxes" Could have worked...
@28if I guess Bob's so great his songs sound equally good (not better to me actually, nobody sings Dylan like himself) in others voices... Pretty much monday morning point I'm afraid...
@LittleDragon2000 I think he really loved the Byrds when he was growing up but he really wasn't part of their generation. Tom has more in common with the Punk's
This is great! Who's playing bass on this?

Actually, everybody knows that the real boss is Pete Seeger.

Someone find a video of them performing "American Girl" together. Individually, both of their versions are terrific.

And most likely would have been had he been born 5-10 years earlier than when he was.

A great classic song with a modern beat and feel. The best of both worlds!

Great Post. Petty seems really excited to be playing with McGuinn. Lot's of fun.

Yeah, Tom is not afraid to let his idols know he loves them - look on YouTube for Tom and Bo Diddley singing Mona on stage together.
