Asatru has nothing to do with racism, anyone who comes on here and says that they are a follower of Asatru as well as a nazi, is stupid. it has nothing to do with fascism or racism.
If you are folkish, that does not mean you are racist, it merely means that you believe people should follow the gods of their own land, and their own people. that is supporting diversity, not racism.
It´s not easy because we are only a few idiots for the german community but when I see what the icelandics have reached I´m very hopefull for the future.
@Girrovv I totally understand where you're coming from. I'm a new Asatruer myself in America but unfortunately I live in a Catholic community and on top of that live with step-family who are extremely deep into the faith. It is impossible to talk to her about any other religion except Christianity and tries to get me back into the church but claims that shes not trying to convert me. And to make things worse I don't know any real Pagans or Asatruers in my area. Hail Odin! :)
@joenobody13 ^This. When are people going to stop abusing our culture with that "14/88" garbage?!!! I'm sick of it. DON'T insult my Gods, Ancestors, and Folk.
I agree. Hitler was largely un-'Aryan' (if you use the word Aryan to substitute Indo-European. Which I usually refuse to do). Ancient indo-euro tribes had primitive forms of democracy and republicanism. Fascism and NS'ism is alien to our people imo.
@dirtyer76 You are perhaps the biggest, most unbeleivably ignorant, bigoted, racist person I have ever had the extreme misfortune of knowing the existence of. Do not shame the gods with your ignorance; Odin teaches to stand as equals, no man is better than any other; you are not brave, you are not a hero; and I believe I speak for every Asatruar when I say that we are ashamed that you even call yourself a follower of Asatru.
Excuse me for being a bit rude in applying so directly to you but I must get answers to my doubts. Many people claim that Iceland is a stunning destination with unearthly landscapes not to be encountered anywhere in the world. However, when I look at photos taken of Icenadic views, I do not get the impression there is anything to boast of . Well, there is some undeniable beauty but I think there are other countries in the far east and Europe which far exceed Iceland by beauty. So what's therush.
@Metaldude1945 yepp true, also the mid european germanics! in germany the belief is spreading again, which i like, the scandinavian germanics should see that they are not the only ones..^^
@9Niddhog9 Yeah, the longobardians in lombardia for example. But the Goths get assimilated actually, we can't really say they still exist in the south of Europe. Here in the Flanders(Germanic part of Belgium, where we speak dutch) region it's rising too. We have two major movements, one called Traditie and one called Hagal.
Also, this is probably my favourite documentary on the modern forn sed. The Scandinavians have got it all worked out already, in my opinion, while we over here in NA are bickering over folkism vs universalism and frantically cutting any and all ties to Wiccatru. Hail to the gods, hail to the folk, hail to the goodly wights; and one last horn to Beinteinsson :) .
I'm so proud to be half Swedish, I really like Asatru, when I de-converted from Christianity, I started studying my ancestor's religions. I think I'm going to become an official pagan now, even though I'm an Atheist.
@kht777 I'm actually in a very similar situation like yours; I have Viking ancestry, I have been an atheist for a couple of years, but Asatru is a very appealing religion. I've always had an affinity for Viking history and Norse mythology, but many aspects of Asatru such as the Nine Noble Virtues really connect with me and make me strive to do better with my life. Good luck to you with whatever paths you travel. Hail!
Uhm to the person saying common root language and Sanskrit, all Germanic people had common germanic which then split into North East and West, the eastern branch pretty much diappearing after the Goths fully Romanized. The language and Sanskrit and other languages in the indo-european language group, Proto-Indo-European/Indo-European =/= Sanskrit (which is a daughter language of the indo-iranian branch, which is a daughter branch of the full indo-european group.
I have to agree, but the answer is that the Northern Europeans were not pushy with their religion like the Christians were. Many leaders were paid off to become Christian and then forced it on their subjects. The old ways did not die off nor the belief in them. It just remained quiet and hidden until now. Christianity and Judaism are totally foreign to the spirituality of Northern Europe. People are realizing this thank the gods..
@joethebear Not all northern Europeans were pushy with their religion? If you look at the history of the Lowlands and Germany, our leaders were very pushy to express is it softly. Just think of Clovis and Charles the Great. They tried to kill our own germanic believes...
I have to agree, but the answer is that the Northern Europeans were not pushy with their religion like the Christians were. ''THIS'' Earth was made for ALL of us andit should not matter were we live or were we are from. Our skin is made the way it is cause of the atmosphere and temperature that we live in. Nationality is only what ''we'' make it. RESPECT other believes for we as people canot choose or MAKE Guði(Gods)....I myself bein from Iceland am Lúterskur(Lutherin). This is ALL our world, so we should love it & respect it.
I'm an architecture student, and I have a really interesting project that I am working on wright now. I am proposing a design for an Asatru Religious space, for example a temple or chapel. And I am looking to gain some informatiom about Asatru ceremonies like Asatru weddings or Blots. I am looking to really design an enjoyable shape and beautiful structure. And, I can use as much help as possible, if there is anything that you would like to share with me about Asatru, please contact me.
an excellent idea, but i think that the real temple of paganism is the nature itself, where you get most of your impressions and inspirations. although why shouldn´t there be buildings as a platform for the thoughts. i would say that you should stick very close to the nature in the designing process, perhaps using wood or other living materials.^^
@ kolemanplace: but why should we not be proud of what we are, it makes life more liveable and is a force of progress.
@wozza2341 Asatru is mainly a cultural religion for those of northern European descent. Anyone can believe in anything they wish, but it might be best to look into the beliefs of your own ancestors because they more than likely speak to you better than the beliefs of others.
In Asatru there is no one official body of governing conduct so I'm not entirely sure if people of other races/cultures can officially join, but you can believe in whatever you feel suits you best.
@SonicPsycho The beliefs of my own ancestors? Well, although I am not religious, the beliefs of my ancestors were different types of Christianity, as far back as history records. As for what my pre-Christian ancestors believed, who knows? Probably some kind of northern European paganism. I don't know how one can be a better person if their belief system is based on race and ancestry rather than principles and ideology. Sounds like a step backward, especially with regard to race relations.
@wozza2341 Yeah, I know what you mean. Asatru isn't a white supremacist religion, in fact many Asatruar encourage diversity of cultures. It might be a little hypocritical that it's mainly for those northern European descent while it encourages other people to look for their own way, but it's not very strict at all. I've only read about Asatru, I haven't practiced it or really meditated on it, so I'm not the ultimate source of it.
Like I said there isn't a group that enforces who can or can't join Asatru, and anyone can believe in anything they want, so I guess people of other races can be Asatruar.
@SonicPsycho oh come on, what is hypocritical about that? it is just bullshit for an african to be asatru, the religion was born in mid/norther europe, and the region and its nature is very important for the way the gods, the creatures and the myths are, as well as the people who lived there were...who were of european race...dot
it is a belief/philosophy for germanic/european people, where the fuck is the hypocrisy?^^
@9Niddhog9 'Hypocritical' was the wrong word. I meant to say that it might not be entirely fair for someone who's interested in a religion but is denied from participating in it because of where their ancestors came from. Don't get me wrong, I really like Asatru. I understand what you're saying, and I think you're right.
@wozza2341 Right on, I haven't read it, but Stephen McNallen, the founder of the Asatru Folk Assembly, has written a book on a concept he calls 'metagenetics'. It's about how people take on more than just physical traits from their ancestors such as spiritual ones. It's an explanation of why belief in one's native religion is better than taking on the religion of another culture. Nice talking to you wozza2341.
@Aterkomsten Yeah. That's what I thought. Look at all these people claiming it is a religion based on moral principles. huh! Thanks for your thoughts man.
@9Niddhog9 So using your logic christians are allowed only to be Middle eastern. And secondly, Skin colour is the only differance between us. And don't pull up this "oh asians have slanted eyes, or Blacks have bigger lips and noses" crap because EVERYONE have a chance of getting that. And yes, Northern Europeans did make up Thor, but if they where concerend about spreading their faith they would accept everyone. A religion that bases its entry ship on race is doomed to die.
@Warpmek wrong, but i would be happier if they were! christianity recruits people for being the only belief, you see that mostly european people are christian instead of mesopotamian.....
oho you scientist....:D ridicolous! and i didn´t even mean the phenotypical differences, which of course exist. most of the asian people have an epicantus and black or darker brown hair. in europe there is no possibility for an epicantus if you don´t have asian blood. just an example.
@Warpmek i don´t know how the correct words are in english, just in german. but every human today is an homo sapiens, that is the "art" (in german) we are all able to get potent children, however we mix the races. but in one "art", genus, whatever yo know what i mean, there are still differences of the look, the behaviour, and, in the human case, of the mind, the spirit, the ability of thinking!
@9Niddhog9 well, you are corretc up untill "the behaviour, and, in the human case, of the mind, the spirit, the ability of thinking!" as that is all BS. Genetics does have an effect on personality, but not as profound as you think (there are diseases and parasites that can affect your personality), most of your personality is gained through enviroment. If my parents where conservative, Chances are i'd be conservative. And teh mind is the exact sma eas personality. And the Spirtual is utter BS.
@Warpmek i think i know what you mean, but please explain: BS. you are in a way right, i believe so too: personality is something that you get by the environment, the people around you, things that happen to you or in your life, discussions you have, things you read etc.etc. but before all that, is your genetic.
how you react to anything is influenced by your genetic, how you work with informations, your "temperament", your intelligence, how you interact with people...and so on.
The Norse peoples were actually THE most well-traveled peoples in the world at the time. They had gone to and interacted with native Greenlanders and North Americans before the end of the first millennium, had been to Greece, Arabia, and Egypt, with evidence that they'd gone even further south (that's right, to the blacks), as well as potentially as far east as India. The majority, if not the entirety of these interactions, were peaceful. Saying their way was racist is ridiculous.
viktor2008 - Germanic peoples refers to the people of northern and north-eastern Europe that share a common language root, as opposed to the romantic peoples in the south and west and the slavic peoples of the east. The germanic peoples had a common root language (sanskrit anyone?) but also had a common belief system with the same gods and goddesses.
lake of fire. haha. "hell" came from our religion, just drop one L. Get your own beliefs, you mooch. It's a good thing I have some good pagan ancestors who were known for their ship building. we'll just sail along watching all of the "bad" christians burn in that lake. Ive been just itching for a nice bloody fight for a while, too bad you dont live in MN. and if you do reply back to me and i'll set up a date and time. Lets see you turn your cheek then, pussy.
Exactly the same here. I am agnostic but I don't disagree with anything about the philosophy of Asatru, there isn't anything negative about it. Like you if I used the gods it would be as a symbol and nothing more.
practicly every EUROPEAN nation was forced to accept those lies, unfortunately. it's a sad thing that now, when noone's threating us anymore, so many people choose christianity - i think it's caused by the fact, that original religions are not known very much and that there should be bigger agenda - i don't mean forcing someone, but i hope, that intelligent people who wanna be free would choose paganism (or atheism, if they don't wanna believe at all ;)
IF(and only IF) the christians are right then all "pagans" will burn in hell. However then there would be more good men in hell than in heaven because all tolerant, wise "pagans" with strong soul would go to hell and heaven would be filled with weak minded irritating brain washed christians who are just not capable to shut their big mouths up. So hopefully we`ll meet in hell:)
@LordMaraquesh if there is a hell, and christianity is correct then I feel you make a valid point.
But then it should not be called hell, for how can it be so when its filled to the brim with noble and honest people who refused to bow down to a God who said "I am a Jealous God" - Jealousy is a human weakness, how can a God be jealous? How can a God send people to eternal torment for not obeying him? Allowing to be treated as a flock of sheep? No. I wont even send an enemy to eternal torment.
OMG, i cant beleve this guy says it a NEW religion. 1.07. Asa-tru has been around for CENTURIES. its wat spawned alot of Christianity beliefs, traditions and so forth. they found a rune stone that they believe dates back to 900BC. ya, real new guys
The old ways, the core beliefs, the culture and the religion in being - that's what's been around for thousands of years. But Asatru, or whatever you want to call it, fell almost completely out of communal practice, with aggressive Christianity stamping it down wherever possible.
Now, with the decline of Christianity, the old ways are being rediscovered. The living community behind this is new and fresh.
@alwriter1066 not just our ancestors friend, we who follow asatru today also do not force ideas on others. We wish only that our ideas be respected. This is a tall order for alot of people particularly southern babtist Christians. Living in west texas can be hard at times but we will continue on! Wassail
Not only that but they also respected the beliefs and Gods of other cultures - there was no concept of "holdy war" in the old days.
For example, imagine a member of the Suebi tribe would visit a Auedi village. What would he do? Problably he would ask for the protection of Donar/Thor before entering. Then, he would visit the the main temple, shrine or grove and sallute the Gods that "ruled" there.
@alwriter1066 What, do you mean if only the christians were more like the peace-loving vikings? Read about the carnage they unleashed on Lindisfarne in Britain when they arrived there in 793 AD. They may not have missionised people like the Christians, but tolerant they most definitely were not.
@wozza2341 jeah...the viking squad on a ship, consisting of young war-ready, reckless warriors, hunting for gold and bounty is shurely not tolerant...:D
but that has nothing to say about the norsemen/heathen population entirely
@wozza2341 in a way jeah, but christian raids were caused by any form of christian legends(jerusalem), or valours(christianization), while the viking raids were not forced by the belief, but by hunger or greed.
this religion was always just a device for power and might....- , -
@9Niddhog9 With all due respect, I think it is naive to say that the imperial expansion of the christian powers was caused by christian legends. Christian expansion (western imperial powers), even the crusades, were driven by politics and economics. What the ruling elites told the poor peasants that were sent to die is probably another story. But really, there is nothing in the bible to justify aggressive war as christian countries have done.
@wozza2341 i never denied, that christian religion was just a device for normal ambitions like you said politics/economics/the will for might
it is just the complicated and very large story that makes the people hear, what they want to hear and, importantly, makes them do what the storyteller wants.
@wozza2341 ask the inhabitants of Marhat Al-Numan (sp?) about the benevolent Christians. oh wait, you can't. the Christian crusaders killed and cannibalised all the inhabitants of Marhat. so ask Antioch, where they slaughtered women and children. or Jerusalem, where they slaughtered christian, jew, muslin and pagan alike. or go to france and speak to the jews who were displaced and killed that frankish crusaders could afford the trip to jerusalem
@napoleonbonaparte000 Absolutely. Salvation is of the Jews, says the Bible. Preach first to the Jew and then the Greek. I don't know that Jews care much for Christianity or ANY religion. But i appreciate you deflecting your personal actions in this life onto a more unique platform than "God is Dead". thanks for showing some REAL hate for God. These Heathens , they just don't try anymore. They've made alot of money talking about God!
This is an excerpt from 'Hednalagen' from Sweden. But I can't quite understand what it's saying anymore. It's ancient swedish. Looking more like Icelandic Givr maþr oquæþins orð manni · þu ær æi mans maki oc eig maþr i brysti · Ek ær maþr sum þv · þeir skvlv møtaz a þriggia vægha motum
as a Christian who takes on the CIA, NSA,FBI, Jesuits, hidden Nazi transsexual slave agenda, communism, and poverty as a result of mystical imperialism and gets death threats by making sick fun of jews and islam and athiests...how can anyone say we are ALL sick and miserable and weak.
my home is libel to be blown up by these folks.

Wow, quite alot of heated debate here. Jacoblandes I gotta give you kudos for your superb reasoning and baddave62 you are either a troll looking to cause trouble or just a misguided fool. Hurling insults on the comments page on Youtube is not an effective way to get your point across baddave62, which, as I have seen, consists of explaining that Christianity is stupid and terrible and your seemingly justified by acting like a immature child.
Thank you for your brilliant analysis. You seem to have overlooked a few points, though. I don't think I'm a fool compared with Christians. And this video is not a place for Christians, you have your own silly videos, many of them in fact. And you are too stupid to understand that this is not a place for Christian criticism or proselytizing. So have a nice day and bugger off.
I see no longer any point in argueing with you. This is a religion I am interested in learning more about and it has nothing to do with my religious conviction, though you may argue otherwise. I have nothing but respect for Asatru. I am not calling you a fool compared to other questions, I am just saying your behavior is foolish. I appluade your devotion but focus it more on something positive. Bad mouth my faith all you want, it dosent upset or even bother me. At least I have an open mind.
I think that compared with burning heretics, witches, or those who dare to say that the earth revolves around the sun (which it does, by the way, even the fucking pope admitted as much 350 years after everyone else had figured it out), my behavior is pretty sensible. What is not sensible is the habit Christians have of sticking their noses in other people's business. By the way, say hello to Ted Haggard and Jimmy Swaggart. Hugs aplenty!
asatru is the old religion of all germanic countrys - germany, norway, iceland, sweden and so on. its a religion older than the cross, the germans believed in wotan = odin long before the romans attacked "germania magna". and the people will find back to it.
what the fuck!?^^ the old german tribes were all asatru, like the vikings eight hundred years later. the saxons in north germany for example were asatru until the 7th century. also were many germans in north germany vikings or had viking ancestors later. typically for all germanic countrys are the pagan ancestors, the similar speeches and the same "race" of people. and you say germans have nothing to do with all that?^^ asatru is a GERMANIC religion, not only a scandinavian or something.
@viktor2008@viktor2008 Well where the fuck have you been? Germanic countries are Germany, Norway, Denmark, Sweden. And Maybe The Netherlands, I actually dont know.
@bill3ok germanic countries are: germany, luxemburg, liechtenstein, austria, party of switzerland, the netherlands of course, denmark, norway, sweden, iceland, england, part of belgia.
@bill3ok you´re right about that, considering that i named luxemburg, liechtenstein and austria. but actually they are german anyway. so now faroer is not danish anymore...well, i just want to express that all of the germanic countries have the same cultural heritage and should remember about that in their relationships. i think the ancient culture would be a good alternative to the modern-one-world-liberalism-non-identical "culture"! :D
@9Niddhog9 True, Culture collaboration is not good. Look at America.... Shit hole country. People think that not wanting to e associated with different cultures is considered evil or racist even, And it pisses me off, No, It just ruins cultures when you do that. Its not saying other cultures are less than mine, its saying strengthen your culture while I strengthen mine.
@9Niddhog9 Don't forget France (Franks/Burgundians,...) and Northern Italy (Lombards). Most barbarian invasions and immigrations to Spain/Portugal came from Germanics and out of France too later on, as well as other country's that have mixed Germanic/Slavic history like Poland, Czech, Slovakia, Hungary, etc.
Even though I am Jewish I respect ppls rights to worship what they like, and for the record Judaism didnt go seekout converts like Christianity and Islam so I dont understand why the spread of Christianity to Northern Europe is Judaisms fault, we live and let live and I am touched to see ppl returning to their roots you all have my full support, but if some of you like Persia want to remain Xtian do so just leave everybody else alone to believe what they want too.
and see mohammad was just a hack at religion, fared better with young girls and propaganda.
you seek out people to swindle in money rackets and anti-chrisitan smut peddling and other such things like russian mafia sports hockey extortion death organ harvest
islam is a religion of drunk, speeding, ugly, stinking, pedophile sex slave NYC child kidnapping pigs
and anyone who likes islam is a fool your missing daughter is in kabul
"Courage, truth, honor, fidelity, hospitality, and discipline." Christianity believes in all these, though "honor" would probably be called "uprightness" or "forthrightness." A main difference between paganism and monotheism is that the latter asserts the value of each person before God, while the latter lets fate, wyrd, etc. consign the soul to its "lot" (a Germanic word & notion). Valhalla is very nice if you belong to the right social group (warriors) when you die. Pity the poor.
Christianity is great if you like crusades, popes, witch hunts, book-burnings, heresy trials, and LOTS of stupidity. It turns people into mindless panytwaists. This religion from the Middle East (an screwed up corner of the world) was foisted on Europeans who in turn foisted it on others. The camel religions have been a scourge upon the world.
Christianity does not have a spotless record, but it is contradictory to speak of crusaders and "pantywaists" in the same breath. 2ndly, the office of pope is in part derived from the pontifex maximus of *pagan* Rome; the office of the Dalai Lama is a Tibetan Buddhist parallel. 3rdly, the pagan Roman persecution of Christians demonstrates the lack of "tolerance" by pagans; 4thly, neopaganism is rife with homemade beliefs, values, and rituals--and this is not "stupidity?"
Christianity does not have a spotless record? Your facility with understatement is world-class. Yes, Christianity produces both pantywaists and crusaders. The commonality between them is they're screwed up. Just as the RC church has been known to burn men alive for having sex with other men, yet produces a bumper crop of panytwaist priests who like to fuck little boys. Btw, you need a course in logic--only an infinitesimal percent of pagans were Romans. Christianity produces sheeple.
It is easy to condemn others for failing when one has vague or non-existent standards for oneself. (I do not say this about you personally, but regrading the airiness of neopaganism). BTW, if you want to rant about Christianity, you may choose to do so, but you sent me a reply to a comment I made about the primitive classism in Northern paganism. If you wish to continue hurling at me, address that issue rather than using me as your ideological scratching post.
I really like your assertion that paganism is rife with homemade beliefs, values, and rituals. The idea that people could choose such things for themselves must be very threatening to sheeple. Do you think that Christian values, beliefs, and rituals aren't homemade. Oh please excuse me, I forgot that they were dictated by God and His vicars on earth.
I am not denying the organic development of religious practice. Note that I put the word "stupidity" in quotations, in order to compare the assertion that elements of Christianity are "stupid." Please address the issue I brought up, as I invited you to, and eschew name-calling ("sheeple"). If we are old enough to write and use computers, we can correspond like grown men.
Believe it or not, you do not get to dictate what I write about. Christians love to control others. The prinicipal issue, as I see it, is that a pagan site is not a place for Christians to bloviate about their opinions. This is a constant activity for Christians, who not content to burn, hang, and silence those of other religions (or even their co-religionists), must constantly be inserting their noses in other peoples' business. While their priests fuck little boys.
Dave, by chance I have seen your posts on other videos and your tone is the same. I do not CONTROL you but I INVITE you to correspond in a mature way. If that offends you, then ask yourself WHY that angers you. I don't know you, Dave, or your path, only your words, which come out of your deepest self. Good luck on your path.
How did you acquire such cosmic wisdom? I feel better now, just reading your mature comments. Btw, posters like you are a dime a dozen; Christians must always go where they are both superfluous and unwanted. The pathetic Christian need to proselytize really is proof that misery loves company. Thanks for checking out my other posts, you must be in love with me!
you are right when it comes to listening to someone who worships a self surrenduring beggar nailed to a cross. i think i will stick to something worthwhile, like laughing at the fools
It would seem that christians just cant keep their fucking opinions to themselves. evidently its the job of holy rollers to be the fly in the ointment of the whole damn world. here in the u.s. most hard core christians are nothing more than ignorant hillbillies and weak minded idiots. who jump at the chance to prove themselves worthy of the heaven they so fondly await. when in all actuality they are just scared, small minded fools, chasing a dream.
You are the one whos wrong. I was myself long time a Christian. However, I have recognised that the Christianity is one single big lie. I am for a long time now an Asatruar and I am more happily with it. But only, so besides. Now I ask you, your church does not teach to you other people and their religions to pay attention? I may be a pagan but I know what I'm talking about. And now die you damned little Christian.

And to make things worse I don't know any real Pagans or Asatruers in my area. Hail Odin! :)

There's an answer to the folkism vs universalism debate.
Tribalism. Conversions from any background should be possible, but it should mean assuming a fully Heathen tribal identity.

And I am looking to gain some informatiom about Asatru ceremonies like Asatru weddings or Blots. I am looking to really design an enjoyable shape and beautiful structure. And, I can use as much help as possible, if there is anything that you would like to share with me about Asatru, please contact me.
Rilwankujenya 1 year ago
@Rilwankujenya
an excellent idea, but i think that the real temple of paganism is the nature itself, where you get most of your impressions and inspirations. although why shouldn´t there be buildings as a platform for the thoughts. i would say that you should stick very close to the nature in the designing process, perhaps using wood or other living materials.^^
@ kolemanplace: but why should we not be proud of what we are, it makes life more liveable and is a force of progress.

Can black people join?
wozza2341 1 year ago
@wozza2341 Asatru is mainly a cultural religion for those of northern European descent. Anyone can believe in anything they wish, but it might be best to look into the beliefs of your own ancestors because they more than likely speak to you better than the beliefs of others.
In Asatru there is no one official body of governing conduct so I'm not entirely sure if people of other races/cultures can officially join, but you can believe in whatever you feel suits you best.
SonicPsycho 1 year ago
@SonicPsycho The beliefs of my own ancestors? Well, although I am not religious, the beliefs of my ancestors were different types of Christianity, as far back as history records. As for what my pre-Christian ancestors believed, who knows? Probably some kind of northern European paganism. I don't know how one can be a better person if their belief system is based on race and ancestry rather than principles and ideology. Sounds like a step backward, especially with regard to race relations.
wozza2341 1 year ago
@wozza2341 Yeah, I know what you mean. Asatru isn't a white supremacist religion, in fact many Asatruar encourage diversity of cultures. It might be a little hypocritical that it's mainly for those northern European descent while it encourages other people to look for their own way, but it's not very strict at all. I've only read about Asatru, I haven't practiced it or really meditated on it, so I'm not the ultimate source of it.
SonicPsycho 1 year ago
Like I said there isn't a group that enforces who can or can't join Asatru, and anyone can believe in anything they want, so I guess people of other races can be Asatruar.
SonicPsycho 1 year ago
@SonicPsycho oh come on, what is hypocritical about that? it is just bullshit for an african to be asatru, the religion was born in mid/norther europe, and the region and its nature is very important for the way the gods, the creatures and the myths are, as well as the people who lived there were...who were of european race...dot
it is a belief/philosophy for germanic/european people, where the fuck is the hypocrisy?^^
9Niddhog9 1 year ago
@9Niddhog9 'Hypocritical' was the wrong word. I meant to say that it might not be entirely fair for someone who's interested in a religion but is denied from participating in it because of where their ancestors came from. Don't get me wrong, I really like Asatru. I understand what you're saying, and I think you're right.

wozza2341 1 year ago
@wozza2341 Right on, I haven't read it, but Stephen McNallen, the founder of the Asatru Folk Assembly, has written a book on a concept he calls 'metagenetics'. It's about how people take on more than just physical traits from their ancestors such as spiritual ones. It's an explanation of why belief in one's native religion is better than taking on the religion of another culture. Nice talking to you wozza2341.

9Niddhog9 1 year ago
@9Niddhog9 well, you are corretc up untill "the behaviour, and, in the human case, of the mind, the spirit, the ability of thinking!" as that is all BS. Genetics does have an effect on personality, but not as profound as you think (there are diseases and parasites that can affect your personality), most of your personality is gained through enviroment. If my parents where conservative, Chances are i'd be conservative. And teh mind is the exact sma eas personality. And the Spirtual is utter BS.
Warpmek 1 year ago
@Warpmek i think i know what you mean, but please explain: BS. you are in a way right, i believe so too: personality is something that you get by the environment, the people around you, things that happen to you or in your life, discussions you have, things you read etc.etc. but before all that, is your genetic.
how you react to anything is influenced by your genetic, how you work with informations, your "temperament", your intelligence, how you interact with people...and so on.
9Niddhog9 1 year ago

No. I wont even send an enemy to eternal torment.

scarffinc 2 years ago
@scarffinc -
In the form it is in now, it's technically new.
The living community behind this is new and fresh.

aubergine2c 1 year ago 3
@alwriter1066
A wonderful coexistance.

@alwriter1066 What, do you mean if only the christians were more like the peace-loving vikings? Read about the carnage they unleashed on Lindisfarne in Britain when they arrived there in 793 AD. They may not have missionised people like the Christians, but tolerant they most definitely were not.

But really, there is nothing in the bible to justify aggressive war as christian countries have done.
wozza2341 1 year ago

Most barbarian invasions and immigrations to Spain/Portugal came from Germanics and out of France too later on, as well as other country's that have mixed Germanic/Slavic history like Poland, Czech, Slovakia, Hungary, etc.

@rosevilleparkway yeah, but i was just numbering countries with a germanic majority and germanic culture/language....i know it.^^

The camel religions have been a scourge upon the world.
baddave62 2 years ago
Christianity does not have a spotless record, but it is contradictory to speak of crusaders and "pantywaists" in the same breath. 2ndly, the office of pope is in part derived from the pontifex maximus of *pagan* Rome; the office of the Dalai Lama is a Tibetan Buddhist parallel. 3rdly, the pagan Roman persecution of Christians demonstrates the lack of "tolerance" by pagans; 4thly, neopaganism is rife with homemade beliefs, values, and rituals--and this is not "stupidity?"
jacoblandes 2 years ago
Christianity does not have a spotless record? Your facility with understatement is world-class. Yes, Christianity produces both pantywaists and crusaders. The commonality between them is they're screwed up. Just as the RC church has been known to burn men alive for having sex with other men, yet produces a bumper crop of panytwaist priests who like to fuck little boys. Btw, you need a course in logic--only an infinitesimal percent of pagans were Romans. Christianity produces sheeple.
baddave62 2 years ago
It is easy to condemn others for failing when one has vague or non-existent standards for oneself. (I do not say this about you personally, but regrading the airiness of neopaganism). BTW, if you want to rant about Christianity, you may choose to do so, but you sent me a reply to a comment I made about the primitive classism in Northern paganism. If you wish to continue hurling at me, address that issue rather than using me as your ideological scratching post.
jacoblandes 2 years ago
I really like your assertion that paganism is rife with homemade beliefs, values, and rituals. The idea that people could choose such things for themselves must be very threatening to sheeple. Do you think that Christian values, beliefs, and rituals aren't homemade. Oh please excuse me, I forgot that they were dictated by God and His vicars on earth.
baddave62 2 years ago
I am not denying the organic development of religious practice. Note that I put the word "stupidity" in quotations, in order to compare the assertion that elements of Christianity are "stupid." Please address the issue I brought up, as I invited you to, and eschew name-calling ("sheeple"). If we are old enough to write and use computers, we can correspond like grown men.
jacoblandes 2 years ago

Good luck on your path.
jacoblandes 2 years ago
How did you acquire such cosmic wisdom? I feel better now, just reading your mature comments. Btw, posters like you are a dime a dozen; Christians must always go where they are both superfluous and unwanted. The pathetic Christian need to proselytize really is proof that misery loves company. Thanks for checking out my other posts, you must be in love with me!
