We live in Alaska and our giant is "Klondike". I made the mistake of thinking I could let him relax in the living room while I went upstairs to sew for a bit....LOL...I forgot to move the FEATHER PILLOW I had on the couch. Need I say more???? It made for great video!!! Try cleaning up thousands of feathers of the living room floor. We love him though. He's our big baby.
@Corey497 I have two huskies in an apartment, and both of them are happy and healthy. Needless to say, we run, run, RUN together. So having a huge yard is not a condition sinequanone. Having said that, if you're NOT motivated to go run and walk alot on days when it's raining or there's snow on the ground, and you have a small or no yard, then these dogs are NOT for you.
I agree, large spitz type dogs aren't for everyone because of their extreme intelligence mixed with their active nature. If you don't spend time with them, they'll escape and explore around the neighbourhood. These dogs have very good observational learnings as well so if anyone isn't motivated then they shouldn't bother getting these dogs. Pomeranians are also the same, despite their sizes, these little dogs are as equally intelligent as huskies and are super escape artists!
True I have owned both breeds, Still have The Malamute but because I was strict and never let him away with anything he is the perfect dog. Well behaved and quiet. The only thing I let him do when small was get on the sofa and he still does it no matter how many times you tell him down.
Malamutes actually get away with unwanted behaviours less often than Huskies and other similar, yet smaller, breeds of dogs. The Malamute is just as intelligent as the other ones but because of their weights, they actually become a lot more peaceful and quiet once their energy is burnt out a little. But as for the other dogs, they are lighter and quicker and people often underestimate them. The smaller the breeds, the more people overlook them and let them do crap they shouldn't do.
they stay that small for like 3 weeks. lol
