In old days people used to sleep on roof tops in Lahore summer times. This is one of the songs which hold their imagination and made them sleep in a motherly manner. The feeble sound from distant transistor radio accompanied with occasional swings of breeze familiarize people with the radio program Apki Farmysh.

You've mentioned almost the same thing, only difference is that people in Karachi used to sleep in their 'sehan' rather than roof tops. Those were the days. Deebo was a seasoned, born music director. Unfortunately very little work has been produced by Deebo and Hasan Latif (Susral fame).
