Never let film die, if Dolby, DLP, and the MPAA have there way, if consumers keep supporting Digital Cinema that's what's going to happen, Shame on PANAVISION for building 3 models of what they call Digital Film Cameras...
@flickerman68 Film has a longer archival life span. Every video and digital drive gets replaced every 2-5 years at the longest and little is done to deal with the issues that follow. Film has been used for over a hundred years and much of the earliest films can be properly stored and projected as if recently printed and transferred from the negative.
Regrettably, in less than 10 years the good old film is history. I don`t like video too but tha`s the future.
I am a film projectonist in Hamburg. Recently they replaced our Prevost and Kinoton machines through a D-Cinema system from NEC. I think for the cinemas the filmtime is rather over than for filmproduction.
Great book - The from Jon Fauer, great clips from Jon Fauer VHS, I have got the book but didn't get the VHS from Amazon seller, he tricked me. does any one have got copy of this video, suppose to be 3 VHS. Thanks
@AsianStvex So do I. The Arri SR model in particular are much easier to load and give wonderful results and are still relatively new when it comes to movie cameras.
Lovely pictures. Would it be fair to say that shooting on 16mm is the film equivalent of 15ips and 35mm the equivalent of 30ips audio?

THere needs to be some kind of cooperative for those of us who want to shoot on film but can't afford the direct expense.

@Fader2003 I love digital for it's speed, accuracy, ability to shoot an unlimited amount, all that.
But I love film more because it's about passion and skill.
I'm a starting photographer but in many ways I love my 1980s Canon T70 over my $2,000+ kit for my digital T2i.

.. and who died and made you the future predictor? Film is mature, video isn't. New film stocks will always be made. Get with reality. Enough said.
