this is the first time i've seen this camera angle. it gives a great sense of the pace of these cars. 190mph into a wall and lives to tell about it. I wish kubica a speedy recovery (from his recent rally crash)

@DuRiTo09 When coming into the turn with huge speed - close to 290 km/h- he was on the outside (outside line into the corner not track) and didn't had enough space between another car and grass. He didn't managed to slow down and get behind it in time and his front wing was damaged in contact. Then this very wing got under his front wheel(s) - like if loss of the FW in high speed corner wasn't enough to be thrown outside of the track - and when he got on the grass a little bump send him flying

Never seen this angle before, and it really shows how fast Kubica was going when he hit the barrier.

One thing I notice from this video is how lucky Kubica was not to fly over the barrier he hit, into the incoming traffic on the other side of the hairpin. Now that surely would have ended worse!

@jimmyass its just the way he made contact with the wall. from where i was sitting it the way he hit the wall reminded me of senna's crash. when it first happend i though kubica was dead, the force of the impact and the way he lay lifeless. but after a few seconds he started to move.

Kubica is so very lucky, but, and i know people on here will slaughter me for saying this, but max mosley is one of the most unappreciated people within the F1 world, without the efforts of max and that tragic, dark weekend in imola, formula one would of lost one of the most talented drivers of this generation in montreal, max was pushing for huge changes regarding the safety, or lack of, in F1 even before the death of ayrton and roland, whose deaths were, sadly, the justifaction of his views

We ALL know just how fortunate Robert was being able to walk away from that horrendous crash, it so easily could've been much, much worse. Sorry for putting a downer on things but it would be appropiate to remember the drivers that lost their lives, but not in vain, so that advances could be made in safety in F1so that todays drivers have a strong chance of surviving big accidents, but by no means is it totally safe, after all it is still an open cockpit and the driver's head is very exposed.

I watched the whole race again this morning. The marshalls were sitting in camping chairs right by where Kubica had his accident. The chairs were in front of the wall, and they only moved them away when Scott Speed broke down and needed his car moving.

@petrolhead Indeed thank goodness for Hans but I think Roland's crash was much more of an acute angle as he'd lost part of his front wing. Check my videos to see. This is still horrific and I'm so glad he survived. Thank you uploading this plokijy09 what an amazing angle!! Those Marshall's had a big time wake up call with leaning over the wall like that. Thank goodness all was ok and F1 is safer than it's ever been, let's envisage another great year of fast but safe racing :-)

This could so easily have been fatal, especially when you look at what happened to Massa in Hungary. Kubica was lucky on so many counts... the fact he didn't cross the wall, the speed of the impact and the rolls, and from another angle he nearly gets hit in the head by his own wheel a few seconds after it had come off. The man owes his life to the FIA's safety changes, and the drivers who died in much lighter incidents decades before.

I think his car hitting the small white wall at the bottom is what saved his life.

That impact shifts his momentum from straight forward into a fast moving spin so he "bounces" off the bigger white wall. If he was to hit the big wall dead on he might not have spun off and taking all impact force on his body.
