  • Damn republicans!

  • @TheHomeNationsParty Yet lots of Brits have a very low opinion on France and the <french military. Which is wrong, when well-led and motivated; the French professional soldiers are amongst the best. And that is not my opinion. That is what an analysis from the US military showed some years back.

  • Maybe it's strange but i'm from poland and i love France .I want to live there but i don't want to be associated with immigrants . That's a problem

  • @MrMaxym7 Legion Etrangere. Since the end of the Cold War enough Eastern Europeans have found a new home there that the former favorite swearword, "Merde!" has been changed to "Curva!".

  • Canada was founded by france, The empire established the colony of New France from Quebec,Ontario all the way down to Louisiana, military service for everyone 16 to 60!!

  • Listen to the song "Bastille Day ", (with lyrics), by Rush

  • I salute the French Republic !

    FROM THE USA !

  • Bastille day? The french national day celebrates the Fête de la Fédération(July 14th 1790) where the King takes the oath in the constitution and everyone rejoice. Don't believe we celebrate the Bastille massacre.

You can search "Fête de la Fédération" on Wikipedia. ;)

  • @CutyBecky kso FIRST OF ALL . ;)

    wikipedia is 40 % wrong, :)

SECOND OF ALL . "the French NATIONAL HOLIDY celebrated annually on july 14th, is officially called the FETE NATIONALE, and commemorates the FETE DE LA FEDORATION -- but it is commonly known in English as Bastille day.

    thankyouverymuch.

  • @PineappledJam you go girl...

  • @DragonsREpic

Yeah like your national day, althrought, in France, we never call it the bastille day, only foreign says it.

We just talk about the 14th of july.

  • @DragonsREpic it like the US fourth of July.

  • Je suis un américain qui aime la France. Vive la France!

  • Why didn't America aid France during the revolution? It's the least they could of done when France helped the U.S obtain independence from King George.

  • @hihowdigut We didn't have a navy to send troops

  • @hihowdigut US did not help Britain either but I think at we were still getting on feet as nation. I can't remember but I think the US was writing the Constitution.

  • ahaha gays

  • did you see the way those guys marched up to bastille day?

  • France truly is la grande république.

  • I'm an American and I love France! It's one of the most beautiful countries in the world!

  • @siddude me too ! since I listen Phoenix a great French bad I begun to like France lol...

  • france always had one of the greatest army in the world. when the french army was defeated In WW2 many people thougt the war was lost but thanks the japanees they waked America and they become the strongest country in the world before it they thougt the french army was the strongest but has been defaeted only because idiots generals who want to do the same as ww1

  • President Sárközy is a hungarian.

  • @bebtozoltan55 Yes you are right, he should go back in hungary, we don't need this little and dirty dwarf.

  • @bebtozoltan55 To say nothing of his links to the CIA and the Corsican mafia.

  • fail

  • Ridiculous, celebrating the beginning of what would be the bloodiest revolution in history? Saying that "if you don't support us you're against us" is the definition of a republic? And here I thought the French were educated in some way, it turns out so very differently. It's no wonder France is a laughing stock of other major European countries as well as Western countries. Terrible.

  • @ChaoticBFly

Do try and refrain from writing drivel...

  • @ChaoticBFly

I agree on the fact the this damn revolution shouldn't be celebrated. But saying that France is a "laughing stock" of other western countries means that your knowledge of the world and history ends in Brooklyn.

"Let a fool hate France" Chesterton.

  • @ChaoticBFly

If you don't support us you're against us WAS NEVER the definiton of our republic.

It was robespierre and his dictatorship " The Terror ", since 1795, our definition is Liberty, Equality, Fraternity

  • Vive la France. Next Bastille Day I am going to drink French wine, eat French bread with French cheese. I'll pass on the Freedom Fries. LOL.

  • The only problem between France and the USA was BUSH. Today, the problem are the rest of his crap propaganda..

  • America and France are like brothers...we tease each other, wrestle, fight and argue...but in the end we are family and both countries care deeply about each other

I am an american and most people who live in usa love france. We are allies and so we shall remain forever...vive le france!

  • From an American, For all the French people who said Happy 4th of July, I say thank you, and Happy Bastille Day to you! Celebrer et avoir un grand temps!

  • lots of ppl are talking about WWII... it's off topic. But well. If Germans kept France longer, the whole world would have been different. Not only France. It's not "WORLD" War II for nothing. The war would have come to America. There's no country that help in a war "to be nice". They do it for they own sake. So America didn't save France. They saved themselves.

  • the problems between france and americans is that they both have an superior complex, but americans have more right to have it than france, cuz america have proofed they are superior, french doesn't and to all the americans let mee tell you this, france and germany are both the most hated countries in europe, by the european people, german cuz of WO2 and Wo1 and french cuz they always think they are the best in everything, but actually they suck at everything

  • @djadod I'm French and we have no complex towards anyone because we do better in many domains, France is in 2010 the 5th largest economy in the world according to the world bank, our HDI is one of the hightest, in Europe only Norway and Sweden, do better than us, the French military budget is the 4th the most important, the French health care system is one of the best, we have a great history, even though we lost the WW2, we are only proud about France nothing more, I dont see any arrogance.

  • @minhounou but you also have one of the highest undeployments rate of europe...

  • @tauwarlord it's actually in the 2de term of 2010, 9.2% if you compare with Spain it's more than 15.8%, and our unemployement rate is pretty the same in Germany.

if you add the total unemplyement rate of 27 countries in Eurôpe, France is in middle.... so don't open you mouth.

  • @minhounou we won WW2 ;)

  • @minhounou God bless LA FRANCE

    FROM SPAIN

  • @minhounou

  • @djadodh --yeah but at least the French have a better grasp of the language they speak than you do. How embarrasing!

  • @djadodh very naive...

  • @djadodh

You're naive, France and Germany, along with UK, ARE europe, the other may be physically in EU, all the economy is concentrated THERE.

  • Please listen too this! This sound in a wind band I like - you don´t miss the strings!

The Swedish national wind band plays "Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral" The Swedish national wind band plays "Mälardrottningen"

The Swedish national wind band plays "Admiral Stosch"

    Conductor: Nils-Gunnar Burlin

    And french food is best!

  • france owns fatland usa

  • @AttackTheGasStation1 Tell that to the men that hit the beaches to give the rights to have that freedom to say that.

  • @TheIceman567 "Tell that to the men that hit the beaches to give the rights to have that freedom to say that" --> those men who would not live in an independant country if Lafayette and Rochambeau didn't have saved their ass during their independance war ???

  • @AttackTheGasStation1 No shit dumby did i say they didn't. God no to smart are yah.

  • @TheIceman567 not*

  • @deadmanshand2010 lol show me a parade thats entirely american no european influence ?? oh yea right you are european sorry i forgot i bet you are french too lol say one thing you love about your culture that wasnt there 150 years ago ?

  • the reason why french soldiers and officers ride on hourses is because they have promoted the idea of chavilry

  • Cool video

  • I Wonder what Napoleon would think if he saw the Islamification of France? Sad what France, Europe and the US are letting these fucks do to our countries.

  • i agree, sad

  • You know, I met a Muslim from Afghanistan who was actually really nice. So I wouldn't say ALL Muslims are trash when some aren't. It's like saying all liberals are hippies, or all conservatives are inbred, or all Christians are Mormons, or all Jews steal money. None of it's true.

  • Oops, my post was too long, so here is the end :

Helping another country to get back its sovereignty and liberty is a wonderful thing, but it shouldn't stained by pride...

  • let's help the argentines now get the Malvinas back.

  • Okay, people, I don't get it. Why are you fighting over "who has the biggest" ? This is a YOUTUBE video of Bastille Day, guys ! I understand that both French people and Americans are proud of their country (and so am I), but no need to come back to those old war stories ! France helped the colonies to free from England, and America helped France to free from nazism. That's it. So, get the hell over it !!!!

  • Right !

  • @cemele51 yes i agree France and Americans are allies we should get along or die together.

  • @cemele51

They were never free from England. They were free from Great Britain. There is a difference.

  • @cemele51 France had their own colonies in which they treated them a lot worse than the English. There is NOT a single ex French colony that is a democracy today unlike ex British ones. That says all we need to know.

  • The whole world learn English.

But for the moment this the uk who's going to be more intensivly a part of the original French / German EU ;). We let you think about that monsieur je me prends pour dieux ! France a colony of the brits ? rofl !!

  • Lol ... just... Ta gueul.

  • L'Angleterre fut la première colonie Française avec l'invasion de Guillaume le conquérant en 1066 ! Alors va te coucher roosbeef !

  • 30% of English words are French

10% of French words are foreign (German/Italian/Dutch/English/Spanish...)

Your "national" symbols are French : "Honi soit qui mal y pense !"

Lol you don't even have your own culture.

  • england was basically a french colony for centuries after 1066

  • That is very true. But hating France is one of the base of the British national identity, so you'll never find a Brit proud of his French heritage.

  • i love the bbc monty python and doctor who

but wo things Really make me lose respect for the british

one is this racist jingoism around the monarchy and empire, the other is how hollow it is considering how eak and dependent their society now is on the USA

a society they stand so much time spitting on, it wreaks of biting the hand that now feeds them and envy and resentment, i admire so very much the french republic its revolutions, and the fact that the french despite everything

    refuse to

  • The best of America drifts to Paris. The American in Paris is the best American. It is more fun for an intelligent person to live in an intelligent country. France has the only two things toward which we drift as we grow older—intelligence and good manners.-F. Scott Fitzgerald

  • kiss our ass

the british seem to drift between the Sycophantic and open hotilility and resentment to their dominant partner

    the french remain consistantly snotty

de gaulle ven threw us out of france altogether militarilyman that took balls

I like Frenchmen very much, because even when they insult you they do it so nicely.-Josephine Baker

thank you for being so nice to

    Josephine Baker btw

she was treated terribly here at the time

La Baker you even gave her le

    Croix de guerre

  • Brits spent their entire history pissing in their pants while thinking of a French invasion of their foggy island. That's why Brits keep barking at France like a little nervous jack russel barks on a big coldblooded dog...

  • you know i never knew why but in 1066

Guillaume le Bâtard a French speaking NOrman invaded with 10 000 knights

and took the whole kingdom of england

ALL! tout..10000 french man had the whole of england on its knees and the royalty of britian was french for centuries

for eample who was Simon de Montfort, 6th Earl of Leicester ?

  • Simon de Montfort, 6th Earl of Leicester (23 May 1208 4 August 1265), was a French-English nobleman, notable as the principal leader of the baronial opposition to King Henry III of England. After the rebellion of 1263 and 1264, de Montfort became de facto ruler of England and called the first directly elected parliament in medieval Europe. For this reason, de Montfort is regarded today as one of the progenitors of modern parliamentary democracy.

  • and yes they were absolutely terrified of Napoleon and the revolution coming over and guillotining their parasitic aristocrats

  • who was his father pure french

Simon IV de Montfort, Seigneur de Montfort-l'Amaury, 5th Earl of Leicester (1160 25 June 1218), also known as Simon de Montfort the elder, was a French nobleman who took part in the Fourth Crusade (1202 - 1204) and was a prominent leader of the Albigensian Crusade. He died at the siege of Toulouse in 1218

for years the french were their rulers

and they dont talk about it much

    but they remember the humiliation

  • @TheWilliamcale there's statues of Simon de Montfort all over the country and a University named after him. Hardly keeping quiet about it.

  • @TheWilliamcale, HUMILIATION? this whole routine you have of trawling through youtube looking for any opportunity to moan about England comes from humiliation and the fact that your ancestral nation was colonized by England and still is partially occupied. When on Evil empire does it it's wonderful but when another does it its a travesty. Hypocrite.

  • @TheWilliamcale and as for not mentioning it any English Historian will tell you 1066 was one of the most important dates in English history. History is openly celebrated here Celtic, Roman, Saxon, Viking, Norman, Angevin whatever.

  • Allons enfants de la Patrie, Let's go, children of the Fatherland,

Le jour de gloire est arrivé ! The day of glory has arrived!

Contre nous de la tyrannie, Against us, tyranny's

L'étendard sanglant est levé, (bis) Bloody banner is raised, (repeat)

Entendez-vous dans les campagnes Do you hear in the countryside

Mugir ces féroces soldats ? Those ferocious soldiers roaring?

    LONG LIVE FRANCE

  • @TheWilliamcale Oh I know this one, It's a great anthem, pity they couldn't think of a tune and had to use the into to a Beatles song.

    C'mon Bill sing along.

" All you need is love....Bhap Ba Dab da Daaaah!"

  • you know its true then, britian once again has developed into the sick man of europe, and that chip on your shoulder is just getting biger now that the french have overtaken you again. good.

  • @festivalstrider Ahaha...!!! xD

  • @TheWilliamcale

    Normand colony*

Normandy was not part of France until 1204, and there the hundreds years war take, and everything gets complicated.

  • los franceses no saben desfilar !!

  • Then, I think there is (even if never will people admit it) a lot of jealousy against the US, as they're the most powerful country now. It's always used to be the same in history, all countries tend to be jealous of the most powerful one, and bash it as "Imperialist"... But well, who cares ?

  • Always the same american jokes, they as usual think that military history started in 1940... We do thank the US for WW2 contribution, what do you need more guys ? Stars and stripes on the Eiffel Tower ? Is there a French flag on the white house since we helped you not getting kicked by the brits in 1783 & 1812 ? Nope. Yes we did won a couple of wars, that's why we still speak french since 1,500 years. What's your language ? Oh, english of course, I'm sorry. How many wars have US won since 1945 ?

  • We French would have the right to blame US ungratefulness too. French revolution is the result of the financial costs of the American revolution war. France has been non stop in war from 1789 to 1815 against coalitions of UK, Russia, Austria & Prussia. Did the US help us to fight at that time ? No they just kept enjoying their fresh liberty for which french soldiers gave their blood. Is there any commemorative day to celebrate the French naval victory of Chesapeake that led to US independance ?

  • The US was a relatively weak country in terms of military might in its early years. To fight countries such as the UK and Russia in the early 1800's would have been suicide both militarily and economically, at that point we just couldn't sustain a war like that, much less win one. And while we do appreciate French support in the Revolutionary War and War of 1812, it's no different then a proxy war in today's world, where one country uses a 3rd party to do it's fighting.

  • So rather than France trying to help out the US, it was helping out itself as well, so don't go claiming that as a helping hand. An example of a proxy war would be the Cold War, with two sides supporting smaller, developing countries in order to weaken the other in some way.

  • It's all politics of the past. And yes we have won all but one of our wars since 1945, and both the French and the US lost in Vietnam, thus you have no room to talk. You seem to me like a Frenchman drowning in his own pride. True, my view is biased because I am an American, but I can go on and on about French military failures. And now the US military is the strongest in the world and of which I have had the honor of serving so I have first hand experience on the matter.

  • I agree this is all past, and now there are plenty of challenges ahead of us we should all rather concentrate on. But as a former french marine who served its country for 12 years, and served on mutliple theaters from Kosovo to Africa, Guiana, Haiti and the rest, I feel it quite injurious when I see some posts picturing us as surrender monks just good enough to be saved by the US. I was just saying that our military history cant just be resumed to 1940.

  • And since ww2, I dont know any French military failures you could argue on: Indochina & Algeria were both under France's military control until the end. We left on political decision motivated by public opinion pressure, just like US in Nam. The last time (part of) the French army surrendered, it was 70 years ago. And again, not ALL French surrendered. Dont forget that they were Free French along with the Brits on Sword beach on the D-Day, or French SAS who jumped on France the day before.

  • True, we both lost politically in Vietnam. And the whole thing about the French as always surrendering, it is just a stereotype that is "supported" by France's losses in wars in the past. When I was in Afghanistan, I met some French marines and foreign legionnaires, very squared away guys. Personally, I believe they were poorly led, and not due to the lack of military prowess. And I get pissed off when people bash the US for being "imperialists" and saying we kill people for no reason

  • Well, I think that people like that are firstable unaware of the military job reality, and dreamers as they tend to think that we live in a peaceful world and that armies should not even exist anymore. They've seen nothing else than their own country and dont even know the chance they have to live in comfortable and rich places. But they dont take the time to ask themselves why they live in so peaceful or comfortable countries !

  • the statue of liberty is made in french

  • Yeah I know, who helped you recover after WW2?

I call that more then a fair trade.

  • My country would be Englands if not for the french. We honor in America many french generals. The most famous is Lafayette. Not far from my house is a very prestigious University named for him. I don't know where France and USA went wrong. We have much more in common than different.

  • Very True. God Bless America and Vive Le France!

  • VIVE la france paris la plus belle ville du monde le vin le chanpagne Dior

  • I wouldn't have said any better on the French end... Pleased to read comments with sense, merci.

  • Me too, I thought this would turn into a bashing of each others cultures with harsh words but you surprised me with well backed up facts and arguments.

  • Right, University of Louisiana at Lafayette ! Thanks for your comments.

krazyirish, of course it was the US with the Marshall Plan who helped western Europe recover after WW2. It was an altogether generous and clever policy. I regret that, since the 1980s, the US have shut down many "American Libraries" or cultural centers in Europe. Shortsighted expense cutting, I guess.

  • We also have Lafayette University in Easton, Pennsylvania. Very close to my house.

  • And, in additiion, Pennsylvania is a SPLENDID state !

  • how come u speak english ?

  • Been at school. Listened. And read books. And had fun.

  • Because I can't speak french =/

  • Am i the only one who see the irony of the commentary made by the guy bellow me :P ,oh and fuck it:

Ummm hmmm ,how many indepedence have the americans won alone ??? WITHOUT HELP. I have a question for you fatso ...

Frenchman: Do you plead allegience to the queen of england ?

    American: No.

    Frenchman: You're welcome

You would all be kissing her feet without us ,douchebag . Oh by the way i guess that the statue of liberty count for nothing nowaday oh wait ,its an american "symbol" ,haha irony.

  • Good one ! An alternative could be:

French Person: Do you speak english ?

American: Yes of course, what else ?

French Person: Oh that's right, sorry we came too late.

Once for all guys: WW2 is the 1st US military victory in a real war in the whole history of the world. Moreover it's your 1st victory outside your homeland. So who's arrogant here ? French or Americans ? To write such remarks like French being unable to win a war or always giving up is highly offending & wrong.

  • Umm, hmm, how many wars have the french won??? Without help. I have a question for you frenchies...

    American: Do you speak German?

    French Person: No.

    American: Your welcome

You all would be German if it wasnt for us. Just sayin. No hard feeling, were allies and all...

  • We have won more than 100 victories in all the wars combined. We've defeated some of the biggest empires in the world, beginning by the Roman Empire, the Russian, the Spanish, the Austrian, the German, etc... Then, I've not to tell you why you aren't an English slave today if you have just learnt 1% of your history and not only your interests.

  • Then, during the war of the Third Coalition, France was alone against :

    The Austrian Empire Austria

    The Russia

    The United Kingdom

The Kingdom of the Two Sicilies Naples and Sicily

    The Portugal

The Sweden Sweden This is just an example.. I don't need to explain you what was "Austerlitz".

  • please stop okay this its the bastille day no the american day please france have more histoy than usa its the most incredible and powerful country in the world i m not french i m spanish but i think france is of unequallent beauty .

  • many

  • But Americans are emigrants ... They are britains , french and spanish... omfg ;p ..

  • fuck you IhateFIaggers08 -_-

  • what were the women on the right in the last?

  • They are volunteer firemen, women and young people

  • Before they had : USA (=United States of America) and USSR (=Union of Soviet Socialist Republics).

And now, they have with obama : USSA (=Union of Socialist States of America).

  • not really, if america was socialist it would be way better than it is now. there is still a lot of fat pigs in it.

but oh well at least america is finlly taking the next step.

  • I know that in USA they call the obama's party (Democratic Party) a Progressivism or American liberalism party (thanks wikipedia) but in the rest of the world we call that socialist because their ideas, their ideology are socialist.

I also know that since Cold War with USSR in USA the word socialism (and communism) is exiled.

The fear of their ancient enemy may be ?

  • It's humour !

  • whats so bad about socialism???

I mean in America it's like if u got money u can have a good life if your black and from the ghettos to bad for u. NO public healtcare so people that are sick but poor cant get treated or their economy is ruined and they're life is ruined!!!

Ur the world richest country FFS!!!!!

how can u even allow people being so fcking poor and the ghettos clean em up!!!

give them some money!!!! it's not like you dont have enuf!! American selfishness!!!

  • In fact, in the US they have Medicare. It's not as generous as what many European countries have - so it doesn't have the drawbacks of it either. And don't get fooled about "blacks": There is a huge black bourgeoisie in the US. Look how many blacks were in the Bush administration, for instance. It was not "window dressing". Same as in France.

  • if americans would just pay a little more in taxes especially the rich ones america would have healtcare!!!!! think of the lives you would safe!!!!! by the way i still cannot believe this is going on in the richest country on earth

  • don't worry, france and the us are not in war... but some people are just idiot

  • yes, chauvinist idiots

  • Can you Americans just stop bashing on France?

I am not in favor of France nor US. Logically speaking, US has a debt of gratitude to the French for helping them in the war of independence. The American payback is the WWII liberation. Now don't use history again as an excuse.

  • why do americans hate the french so much?

  • It's totally IMPOSSIBLE to post a french-related clip ANYWHERE on the internet and avoid having some American shitheads spam the site with ignorant anti-french and pro-American messages. You can post a harmless clip on how to make a croissant and sure enough a few American retards with their superior complex will surely find that comment box and start writing about how france sucks, America rocks, how france would still be speaking German if the US didn't bail them out during WW2. Oh Americans!

  • not all americans are like that ...

I'm from America and me and my family love france! we visit france almost every other summer and we DON'T have any family there or anything! we personally think it's a great country!

but i do know what you mean. there are SOME people from here that for some STUPID reason can't stop trashing france! i think FRANCE AND THE US ROCK!

If I could quit my job and move there tomorrow I would in a heartbeat. je t'aime...

  • @Sassyblue04:

Well, get ready for the shock of your life when you go to Paris... the "beautiful, clean, well run country" you saw outside of Paris is very different in the capital city. Of course if you stay in an expensive hotel you will be insulated from the vast majority of the populace, but if you stay in inexpensive accomodations and get around the city you will see that it is filled with Africans. I was totally shocked when I was there in 2001- the place was crawling with Africans!

  • I love how the French goverment "showcases" the military bands. One question, do they select the band prior to the Bastille Day parade or, do the French goverment have a nationwide competition to see which of the winning bands of the French military services will be honored to preform in the Bastille Day Parade?

  • French army have many band and selection is made by military authority

  • oh shut up, Im americain and your giving it a bad name,

    vive la france

  • if not France you be paying for your hamburger in pound sterling..
