  • We are good at sizes.... we still have problems with rotation direction

  • I'd settle for earth lol

  • Reminds me of the first predetor movie

  • fuck that music is annoying

  • Song name?

  • i remember when i fav this video when it only had couple of thousands of views, now it is almost to a million, fascinating video

  • Damn! That's amazing and a little bit scary.

  • I'd settle for mars..

  • I just imagine myself looking up to outer space and seing these huge spheres. I get scared shitless.

Now i'm wondering, would jupiter look like that from one of its moons?

  • @ilam3d Europa is the closest moon of Jupiter and it has an orbit twice as large as our moon. So Jupiter would look half as large as it does in this video from the surface of Europa.

Anything closer probably got gobbled up a long time ago.

  • Oops, that 'Woulda' just ruined my post haha

  • And yet, the VY Canis Majoris woulda would beat all of them, easily. We're so tiny.

  • Shit don't get any realer then that when jupiter came in

  • What about Mercury, Venus, and Uranus?

  • @muterabbit ...and Saturn? I can't believe I forgot Saturn.

  • @muterabbit I was waitting for Saturn also

  • You are a talking chimp on a 6000 billion trillion ton organic biosphere, hurtling through a vacuous shooting gallery at 250km/second... Shit don't get realer than that!

  • Wanted to see Saturn the most :( Still a cool video.

  • Just imagine guys... if VY Canis Majoris was viewable at the same distance as our moon... it would just be one big wall of 'WTF'. :D

  • i watch this video every week, and i still get amazed.

  • Now that is cool. Really puts the size of the planets in perspective.

  • Earth would be pulled from it is current orbit, to be a moon for Jupiter of Neptune, after that i think you know what will happen, .........Darkness as we orbit the dark side of the bigger planets, plus it will be freezing ass we pass the dark side with no sunlight

  • @lesonen1 That's not the point of the clip...

  • @lesonen1 we'd just have to turn on the heating and throw an extra blanket over the duvet i guess.

  • @mjshine24 from hypothetical point of view, blankets would be useless, there would be huge tidal forces, waves as high as mount Everest would hit the shores.

  • Why didn't they do them all? I wanted to see Uranus.

    GIGGITY.

  • 又大又圆。

  • I fucking shivered when Jupiter came on.

  • Can't stand the annoying creepy music. Lame. But video is really intriguing.

  • If you feel genuinely unnerved by the size of Jupiter after this, some of the comments down here might make you feel better XD

  • Damn Jupiter, you scary!

  • so then the moon landing WAS fake.

  • Jupiter o.0

  • anyone else utterly terrified with how huge jupiter is?

  • we would all be dead if the [planets were that close

  • shouldve included the sun :D

  • Makes you feel uncomfortable, but it gives you a better sense of motion.

  • I dont think i would feel safe if Neptune was that close. IT would feel very very weird.

  • @ArtranGaming

If it was that close we'd be orbiting NEPTUNE. I wonder if that'd be stable though... I do think we'd have HUGE tides with something THAT mass pulling on the oceans from such a close distance.

  • What about Uranus?

  • Neptune came in and I was like "WOOOOOAAAAAHHHHH" :O

  • Shit got real when Neptune came in.

  • @ KillYourTeeVee I was gonna ask the same question! - bet it would take a year to pass us !!

  • Jupiter.

  • I wish Saturn was in this. The rings are always epic looking.

  • Died I hear the smoke monster noise from Lost at 1:01? Or was that just me?

  • Okay I must admit it, this is one of the most original video I have seen in Youtube! and the size of the Jupiter of the night sky and the eerie music really took the shit out of me!!

    Thanks for posting!

  • me no like you jupiter!

  • hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyy shhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  • THAT'S NO MOON! ! ! ! ( oДo)

  • What about uranus?

Oh wait, there it is! Its only 1 pixel wide!

  • DANNNGG! i be really scared hah

  • Damn Jupiter! You scary!

  • I shat a little when Jupiter came around

  • what about myanus? i mean youranus? uranus

  • I jumped to hide under my desk when I saw Jupiter coming...

  • why not include the other planets?

  • jupiter...TO FUCKING CLOSE!

  • When I saw Neptune, I felt a sense of impending doom. When I saw Jupiter, I knew the doom had come, for I had seen its face.

  • @musicalswordfish lol what? Dude it's just the music changing...relax :P

  • I was fine till I saw Neptune! :D

  • damn nature

  • I feel the Neptune size is the sweet spot for eeriness and terror. Jupiter tries too hard.

  • @MCGeest I agree.

  • Why all the planets are rotating in the wrong direction? They should be rotating counter clock wise........

  • Great video, the music score was not suiting it.

  • Ah, just give me a Denny's Moon's Over My Hammy already and we'll call it even.

  • If Jupiter orbited us we'd have completely black nights that lasted a long long time due to it blocking out the sun completely.

  • @jazcash We wouldn't even get the chance, its gravitational force would be so strong we'd be "sucked in" to its mesosphere which would melt us all to death. :)

  • @bvespertine Why would it suck us in? We could just orbit around the planet, Jupiter's closest moon only a little bit further out than we would be, it has managed to survive there for billions of years, Given enough energy, any body can orbit around jupiter.

  • Earth is spinning in the opposite direction

  • Did anyone else feel claustrophobic

  • The earth becomes the moon of Jupiter...

  • what would it look like if the star VY Canis Majoris orbited us from this distance... sheeeyat

  • @KillYourTeeVee earth would be vaporized. It's a star (hot gas)

  • @KillYourTeeVee Haha.. I was hoping I'd see our sun first then Sirius or Pistol Star.. VY Canis is a little bit too excessive, don't you think? It would be just a full screen full of orange background :D

  • @KillYourTeeVee we would all burn proberbly.. xD sorry bad english

  • @KillYourTeeVee

If VY Canis Majoris was placed in our solar system it would be the size of Saturns orbit.

  • @ElBarto3131 what the fuck are you talking about? It would be 340953548095480948 times bigger than Saturns orbit.

  • @Shpong1ed

340953548095480948x Saturns orbit would probably be enough to get to alpha centauri. You're not a very clever individual are you.

  • @KillYourTeeVee it would engulf us

  • @KillYourTeeVee ridiculousness

  • @KillYourTeeVee It wouldn't look like anything, because it would consume our planet.

  • @KillYourTeeVee What do you mean "Orbited us" that thing is insanely massive, if something, we would orbit it like, and it would be from a huge distance.

  • @KillYourTeeVee We and the whole solar system would be inside it, :O

  • @KillYourTeeVee

We'd be DEEP -inside- the star, considering it'd swallow Saturn if you put it in the same place as the sun.

  • @KillYourTeeVee

It wouldn't look at all since canis majoris has diameter all the way to Jubpiter's orbit.

  • @KillYourTeeVee We would be within the star

  • @NickManor Looked for this the second I saw the top rated comment.

  • @KillYourTeeVee We would be toast!

  • This is what I love about astronomy. There are things out there that are unbelievably massive. You just don't know how small you really are.

  • funnyjunk :D

  • Holy shit.

I shat bricks at Jupiter O.o

  • thumb if fj sent you here.

  • what are the odds of us seeing something like that on earth?

  • Jupiter is terrifyingly huge.

  • If Jupiter were that close, the earth would be destroyed by the changing gravity from the uneven mass inside of Jupiter. Jupiter would create a tide on earth so strong it would pull all of the water to one side of the earth. Look at Europa, Jupiter's moon. The gravitational changes occur so quickly that it melts the ice on Europa by crushing it, like how if you crush an ice cube it will melt.

  • La Tierra gira en sentido contrario. En la animación el Sol saldría por el oeste. Gran video de todos modos.

The Earth rotates counterclockwise. In the animation the sun would come out from the west. Great video anyway.

  • I was hoping to see Uranus :(

  • @DigitalSoju4u venera too? :/

  • @DigitalSoju4u You cant see my anus from the space you ignorant scumbag!

  • @DigitalSoju4u filth!

  • Awesome :)

  • amazing

  • well jupiter is fucking creepy now.

  • @thisismyname12111 HAHAHAHAHAHHA agree!!!

  • سبحان الله و الحمد الله على النعمة .

  • When I saw Jupiter I was like going to take a dump cuz I got scared

  • Damn it. i'm really dumbfounded by a scale of Jupiter. in comparison with moon....... it's stupendous and immense.

  • Having apeirophobia isn't helping me. At all.

    Fuck.

  • @experimental97 I share your infinite pain, my eternal friend. XD

  • I think this video can breed one more yo mamma so fat joke...

  • The Jupiter one DID scare the shit out of me.

  • that's just mind blowing! i can't get my head round that lol

  • If Jupiter was our moon, I would be afraid to go outside at night.

Actually I'd probably be used to it...

  • @ComplexHouses i think it would be the other way around

  • @ComplexHouses in that case I think the Earth would be Jupiter's moon. And can you imagine the tides?

  • @Alterverse Forget the tides, we would get bombarded with asteroids that Jupiter attracts, and by its insane radiation, Not to mention we would be very far from the sun so we would bloody freeze to death, or rather, there wouldn't have been life here to begin with.

  • Where We're Calling From - Doves, no problem.

  • nice video mate!!!!!!!!!!

  • Does anyone know the name of this song?

  • doesn't the earth rotate the other way around...?

  • Comment removed

  • Jupiter looks so close that you could touch it!

  • Thank you, Jupiter !

  • u skipped a few planet eh???

  • I just about shit my pants when Jupiter came around. anyone else?

  • @Roboman60 yeah for some reason ahah

  • @Roboman60 The music didn't help matters

  • Ok, to those people who are disliking this video is because...?

Jupiter scared the shit out of you?

    They dared to replace moon?

Unreal, and you just cannot believe it?

    Misclick? I don't understand lol

  • @swchoi89 christians.

  • anyone else think of Dr.Who?

  • elenin...

  • Jupiter LIKE A BOSS.

  • suck very big

    i'm scary..;;

  • I think a lot of people felt primeval fear when they saw Uranus and Jupiter; why is that? Why are we afraid of such large objects? Does anybody know?

  • @1tephania No idea. But I got chills when I saw it. Probably because it helps provide a sense of how tiny we are, in the scheme of things.

Also, I'm just imagining what it would be like to walk outside one night and see that. It would indicate that something was very wrong, to say the least.

  • @cleverloginname It only feels wrong because our species has evolved on a planet that doesn't have a body like that. Now, if earth had been a large moon orbiting some Jovian planet and life had evolved on it like here, we'd be looking at these small moon examples and saying; "That looks very very wrong, the sky feels really empty. It feels very exposed with all this emptiness & those small moons." Think what possible Titanites might be seeing in 4 billion years when our sun goes red giant. :)

  • can we see what would sun look like?

  • @bionaire123 We actually would be >in< the Sun!

  • @bionaire123 screen would go white, and it'll be like a trillion tiny screams then suddenly silence

  • who else backed away from the screen as jupiter scrolled on? o.o

  • holy fucking shit jupiter!!!

  • Mars it's ok, Earth cool, Neptune WOW, Jupiter HOLY CRA... i spiled my drink.....jajajajajaja

  • 0:54 shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

  • Why the F would you show the earth if we're supposed to believe that the planets of our solar system are revolving around us? How does the earth revolve around itself?

  • @teknotoast The video is about comparison of sizes of different objects as viewed from Earth at Moon distance. The other planets do not revolve around Earth, they revolve around the biggest body in the solar system, the Sun.

  • @teknotoast lolwut?

  • @teknotoast Your comment/question is stupid. Why are you looking for theoretical flaws in a video that is clearly just a "what if" concept...

    Plus Earth was the coolest.

  • OK people, took me a while to remember what song this is (I was literally banging my head on the wall :P) but here it is: DOVES - WHERE WE'RE CALLING FROM, track 5 from the album THE LAST BROADCAST (2002)

  • @Chronotone thanks for the info. i hope your head is ok... :) next time bang someone else's head until yours remembers the name of the song :D cheers!

  • song please??? is it ulver??

  • At least we can touch Jupiter now if not Uranus

  • you forgot pluto

  • i think you missed a couple planets.

  • Nice comparison. But you do have Earth rotating the wrong way.

  • have u ever been to uranus? :))))

  • Holy shit, Jupiter is big. I mean, I knew Jupiter was big. But holy shit Jupiter is big.

  • Hmm i wonder what URANUS would look like :O

  • Pluto is a dwarf planet bit as been declassified as a planet because it simply isnt massive enough to bare that distinction. It is the second largest dwarf body and the tenth largest body in the solar system. It obly has a volume a third of the moon anda fifth the mass - it just isnt large enough! There are many other bodies like it in the Kuiper Belt so youd have to name all of them planets as well because there are many like pluto and one larger. Btw, I'm on my phone writing this

  • Amazing vid, btw

  • ......... Where's pluto. It's a fucking planet.

  • @MetalAnonym0us

    1. The maker of the video didn't include all the planets. For that matter, where's Saturn and Mercury?

    2. Pluto is not a planet. Deal with it.

    3. Seriously, deal with it. If Pluto's a planet, then so is Ceres and the sundry Kuiper Belt objects that have been found in the past decade.
