The sound at the front of the venue is waaaay different than the sound from his perspective. I'm sure that it sounded fine from his monitors. There is literally no way he could know that he is too loud. That is why there is a sound guy...too bad it's a shitty one. They adjust the levels, not the musician.
Plus, it is a youtube video. For all we know it sounded perfect that night, and the audio on the video is picking up the drums more.

The levels on this are completely seperate from the levels that would have been used during the gig. When you record a gig live like this, all the mic levels go into protools, and they go untouched, then its mixed, it doesnt matter how loud the drums are on stage , the dude mixing this could have turned it up, so its whoever did this mix for the video in post production, that made the drums too loud etc
i think the issue is he just got the recording straight from the board with the mix they were using at the show. while it sounds OK in the audience, they usually turn up the drums and vocals on the board. i do alot of this and it's a common problem i have :( i usually just got with audience audio unless it's a big venue, then everything is usually mixed right

These guys are so awesome. I saw them for the first time about three weeks ago... I originally went to see Alkaline Trio and Rise Against but I was so glad when I heard these guys =)

Such an amazing album. The last song "Once Upon a Time" is a great, great song...a song that when you listen to the words you realize the depth of the music. I look forward to seeing them live.

as a Rise Against fan, you can shut the fuck up. Fucking pop punk kids acting like they know shit about music. I swear I think I'm one of last few people that knew Gaslight Anthem before they toured with shitty musicians.

Rise Against hasn't been good since 'siren song,' i hate most pop punk nowadays too but its funny you call yourself 'antifascistpunk' AND a rise against fan when there is nothing punk about them. every album they get more and more mainstream.

I was referring to him being a Rise Against fan. Pseudo-Anarcho PETA bullshit. The best thing about GLA is they don't fall into any of that pre packed punk rock shit. They actually make REAL music. Unfortunately they seem to be playing shows with shitty bands. Alkaline Trio and Rise Against should be opening for Gaslight Anthem.

to me its about a person who talking to a loved one in a grave about when they passed away and he's asking the that person if they heard the music of 1959 from an old radio when they died or if they heard a gospel choir etc.

haha, being sarcasting doesn't help anyone here. he is passionate enough even without giving too much. i think he's just a little too motivated, that's all. it doesn't need to sound exactly like on CD but it should nonetheless sound good don't you think? and here it's, well a little too much.
