It's kinda cool that he's in depth with the speed of human voice, how he's fast when he's excited, stops when he's called ugly and then slowly asks why he's ugly, etc.
It's kinda scary too at the same time that there no longer will be human feelings that are truly transmitted from the heart when these robots take over, man.
While it does appear to be remoted, this technology is very possible.
There ARE other robots that have speech capabilities. I've seen other ones that can even do simple tasks you give them (in the future it's supposed to help the eldery)
Whats unique about this one though is that it doesn't just respond, it responds in a more human-like way. nice :)
The part where he says, "Thank you friend" makes me want to cry! Quasi is such a wonderful robot. I want to give him a hug and a kiss!! I'll give him a flying kiss right now.
I did bumped into the facts about this long time ago but I just can't recall. You may want to try looking at other Quasi videos because it is from one of those videos that you can find the answer. But if I am not mistaken and remember it right, Quasi was developed by students in a University or College in America and initially designed to entertain children who has cancer.
The version of Quasi you see here was made by a group of grad students at Carnegie Mellon University as part of a project to explore interactive, entertainment robotics. Some of those students have since formed a company called Interbots. You can learn more about Quasi (and his new sister Moxi) at Interbots' website at interbots [dot] com
Quasi is in fact being "puppeteered". Check out the Products->Software for more info on the Guided Control System.
It's amasing how far we've come with speech recognicition. The robot didn't fail even once to hear what everyone was "screaming" to it. Altho i'm afraid the words Quasi said was pre-recorded, since nowaday speech synthezisers ain't that good.
I believe that it's pre-recorded too. I mean, they put this memory in him that would enable him to respond to any conversation he'll be engaged in. During our talk with Quasi, there are questions that he can't immediately answer; he would try to throw the question back maybe to give him more time to scan his memory or hoping it will be re-phrased to words his memory has. Thanks for your comment.
Where's that robot located? In a museum or something? I'm really interested in these kinds of interactive audio animatronics. But I'm quite sure that the robot is not acting "stand-alone", it needs an operator who controls it and speaks for sure...
That's what we thought of it at first but he is the real thing. Try to do a research of Quasi and you'll find that he's been touring around the world and if I am not mistaken, mainly created to entertain children who have cancer. Thanks.
Whoa, he's clever.

What's the name of the song playing in the backround? It actually fits perfectly with the mood of what's going on here.

Well, there will be no way robots will take over man who created them, like no way we humans can be greater than God.

Hey, do you know the name of the music that was playing in the backround? To be honest, it really made this video more touching. *blush*
