President Kibaki sensing defeat used every tool in his power to frustrate the results. He learned well.
If Odinga has any leadership in him, he should accept this outcome, calm his supporters and wait for the next 5 yrs President Kibaki waited for 40 yrs
Raila's leadership solidified after the murder of Ouko. Fingers were pointed in the wrong direction, yet none ever stopped to wonder who the ultimate beneficiary was.
Odinga must wait and call off his bitter supporters.
And our poor Kenya is part communist and part capitalist. Why don't we form our own eco-political agenda and motives so that we can have our economic destiny in our own hands! But the problem is that we are so acute minded that we don't see the wider picture. Anyway back to politics, who is leading in the battle between baba Jimi and Agwambo?
God help these poor Kenyans who seem to know so much about the Communism and Capitalism! At the end of the day, Communism and capitalism don't add value to our day to day lives or do they? These are selfish individuals wanting to gain enrichment in the form of complexity so as to brain wash the poor black guy in Africa who knows so much about history!
Because at the time the name wasn't synonymous to communism. If anything, it was mainly associated with positive revolutions. This was the period when Fidel Castro was actively supporting African freedom movements in Angola and South Africa.
Fidel Castro identified with African liberation struggles. He even sent Cuban troops to liberate Angola, Namibia and South Africa from the colonialism and white supremacists. Now tell us, what is your point?
Heshima Jameni, YOU ARE STUPID, DO U KNOW THAT!where in the world did u went 2 school?!! Don't say something you don't EVEN HAVE A CLUE, Cuba have nothing 2 do with Africa. U r asleep. Castro is a Cuban Dictator since 1958. USA tried 2 remove him from power w/t his bro but he's still president of Cuba.CASTRO IS A COMMUNIST, he had destroyed Cuban economy beyold recovery.
What History Heshima?!If you don't have anything to say don't say it here man! Castro was featured with Stalin,Deng Xiao Ping, and Lenin, all he wanted was to spread communist ideas. They agreed with Marx theory, just b/c sm/one was mention in African History doesn't mean he contributed 4 freedom, READ MAN B 4 U TELL OTHERS TO READ!
lyonb12, I am just curious, how old are you by the way? Because these events we are discussing seem to be ancient history to you. Even apartheid regime's existence is beyond your recollection; you only learn about it in history books, I suppose? Your point is taken; yes Fidel Castro is a communist. Nobody, not even Castro himself denies that. But that is not the issue of discussion here!
Heshima Jameni, did u went to school in Cuba or Soviet Union?! Our interest is what the man had done not what he said, u talk like he is your uncle or something! Look here man, Fidel Castro overthrew Fulgencio Batista in in 1959, then established a socialist state that was a close ally of Soviet Union. With the collapse of Soviet, Cuba followed,If he is what u say he is? why is Cuba that way, and why is he still in power since 1958? or there is no one can lead Cuba apart from him?
lyonb12. I was born and raised in Nairobi a year after Kenyatta was arrested and detained by the British. And yes, I went to school. In 1975 South African racist government invaded Angola from Namibia which was still their colony. They were within a few miles of Luanda when Fidel Castro sent thousands of troops to repel their onslaught. In those days South Africa was developing the nuclear weapons with the help of the western governments.
lyob12. I meant to say, I went to school in Nairobi. Before the Angola invasion, South Africa used to brag that their forces could easily overrun the entire continent from Cape Town to Cairo. The pretext for the invasion was always that they were fighting "communism"! A code word to describe the African freedom fighters (especially those of ANC's Umkhonto we Sizwe, MPLA, SWAPO, FRELIMO, ZANU-PF, and ZAPU-PF).
lyonb12. Even the front-line states of Tanzania and Zambia were not spared from the "communist" label! The Cubans fought gallantly alongside the Angolans in the fiercest battles ever fought on African soil since world war II. It is, therefore, not what Fidel Castro said but what he actually did that was the last straw that broke the back of the racist South African myth of invincibility. There followed many years of international negotiations before the Cuban troops finally left Angola in 1988.
Simply 'COLD WAR' communist Vs Capitalism,Cuba or Soviet was not fighting 2 free Africa, all they wanted was 2 spread communism ideas & S.Africa gov't felt resposible 2 oppose, today people like Kenyatta & Mugabe have been denied 2 be honored by History institutions 4 their failure during their regime, they r associated with freedom but they fail 2 implement what they preached,Soviet/Cuba were in africa wth the wrong motive & since Africa wanted 2 get rid of Whites, they were the only option.
Simply COLD WAR? To Africans it war HOT WAR! They were the ones dying in the name of your ideological games! To you, Africans are expendable. No wonder the atom bomb was used against colored people instead of Nazi Germany and their fellow fascist (Mussolini) who wrecked more havoc. And by the way the allied forces did not seem to mind getting help from the "communists" against Nazi Germany!
If someone is standing on my neck and someone else comes along and offers to help topple this tyrant off me I will not give a s**t what his motive is; or whether he is communist or not. I will deal with his motive once the current exigency is taken care of. That is common sense.
And Batista, a US ally, was no angel either. He was worse than Fidel. At least Fidel gave the Cuban blacks, who are the majority, some "relative" freedom. Like the rest of the Cubans, the blacks there want freedom from communism. But they are terrified of the slavery days of Batista. And the US makes matters even worse; for the former "slave owners" exiled in Miami get away with impunity with almost anything. They can act like thugs and terrorists rather than like real freedom fighters!
Russia was not communist yet in 1945,Germany had surrendered when the bomb was tested in New Mexico State (VE Day), Japan had brainwashed people 2 believe they were fighting 4 freedom, even litle kids were fighting 2 defend Japan, President Truman could not afford 2 loose more troops when he could just use one way 'the hard way' 2 end the war.Africa may need help but they r not desparate as u want 2 say
Stalin was not a communist? Anyway Stalin ascended to power following the death of Lenin in 1923. The Bolshevik Revolution that led to communism took place on October 24, 1917. And the Soviet Union was created in 1922 under Lenin.
