This is hilarous. They did all that motor work and still had the stock exhaust. Throw an exhaust on that bitch and its up to 450+. Hands down best way to go with the stock blower is a steggy stage 5 ported blower with a 2.76 upper and some n20.
@Houser450r06 i know a guy selling a modded 03 kenne bell cobra for $10,000!!!! neg. its a steal he got laid off has 2 kids and needs to sell ASAP....if anyone interested let me no
@jjonlythebest1 it sold bro....they dont last long for that price even in this economy.lol...i have people asking me all the time if im sellin mine...but i think if i saw it on the road i would break down and start crying like a little girl.ha...so my answer no
i have the same set up on my cobra but i have 443 rwhp ;) not sure if i want a ported eating for a cheap easy gain to 500rwhp or if i want to save up for a KB set up... i know I should wait for the kb but I dont have much pacience.
ya i hear ya. mine has trouble grabing traction as it is with goodyear eagle f1's on them lol i need a wider tire and the irs suport set up before i get a kb... i did decide to wait... with all the o/t i worked this holiday i am close to having the cash to getting the kb :)
I just love knowing a less expensive, smaller displacement vehicle not made of fiberglass and has four seats not two can show the tail end to a 80,000 dollar car that geared towards retired people...oh no offence to our seniors I have seen some of you in nice 'stangs too lol.
And how come they gain 8hp going from a 3 and a half inch pulley to a 3 inch, but 12hp from a 2.8?
So they gain 8hp from a 1/2 inch less, and 12hp from 1/5 less. Anybody see the problem here? The smaller pulley made less power than the bigger one, something's very very wrong, and they don't talk about it, why? Because the parts they use, well, those companies help sponsor the show, well I'm sure you all know that.
If this were true, why is everyone using the 2.8, and not the 3 incher?? lmao..
Oh I found out why, because the programmer is what I like to call a "limiter", that's just my terminology. Anyways, as you heard them say in the beginning of the show, it does "NO" void your warranty. This is why the boost gains are so low.
Basically the extra boost needs a very aggressive fuel/air ratio, among other adjustments to the ECU, and the programmer limits it, because too much raises the risk of engine damage, which is BS, these engines handle over 850HP. It's Ford certified=limiting.
That power programmer is holding the car back. It's fantastic if all you wanna do is get 400rwhp, and not get ur hands dirty, etc etc, BUT. Those additional runs, especially the third run, going from 8-8.5 PSI to 12PSI, only gained 9 HP, WTF I own a 2004, and before I got my 2.8H Kenne Bell kit and tune, I did the pulley upgrades and the tunes, etc, and I was getting 471rwhp? That programmer is not handling the extra boost properly. NO WAY an extra 4psi gains 9hp, that like 1HP per 1PSI....WTF
Holy shit didnt even kno about that build date thing!!.. I have an 03 Mach1 and it has over heated once and it started that "ticking" Noise..... We changed the lifters, rockers and nothing.. Maybe its the fukin Head like this vid said LoL
hypertech=junk!!!! damm corparate advertising. works good on a truck not a terminator. and that cobra must have been built on a friday ive seen a stocker lay down 425
gstboost30, the motor might not necessarily be a "friday motor," most cobras should lay between 355-380 the tires from what Ive seen from other friends dynoing theirs.... but ur right, Hypertec IS shitty :/
Oh, shit this is an old episode, lol. Danica Patrick hasnt hosted this show in forever, lol. Id like to know what made her think that she was such an amazing driver that she had to quit the Power Block and devote all her time to racing. I mean one 1st in what, like 6+ years? If she wasnt hot shed have been fired a long time ago.
364 hp at the wheels is pretty decent. Base hp and wheel hp are way different. The general loss from engine to wheels is 15-20%. If we say 20% of 364 that's almost 73 hp. Add that to the rated 390 and you get over 460 at the flywheel. The final run should be around 510 hp at the flywheel.
yep, thats the show. they don't actually "tune" the car, they just throw parts on and see what they do. but its a cable show, what more do you expect?
Then to speak of that we just got rich off something a retard could of done. Don't go looking for real power though then folks don't pay us so that may blow your engine.
you're right, they do...at the crank. the cobra in this video pulled 364hp to the wheels. its agreed upon (albeit inaccurate) that a rear wheel drive car will loose around the 15% range of power through its drive train. so, with that, 364hp multiplied by 15% gives us roughly 418hp at the crank. about 30hp more than advertised.
You guys are very right. I'm actually very surprised those guys got through this benchmark without lauching... they must have known how stupid this was. They didn't speak of torque at all....which is absolutely mind boggling.....!! Furthermore, they were showing net gains of about 2HP per 1LB/boost, that's so incredibly modest, it's not worth it, spend the 250 on groceries instead.. Or save up for supporting modds, and do it right. Wow, this has to be the dumbest "real" video on here, arguments?
first of all, Hypertech? who the fuck uses that? and if they know ANYTHING about cars, they'd know that positive displacement blowers absolutely LOVE breathing mods. that car should be damn close to 500rwhp if they put the rest of the obvious mods into it, and didnt use that crappy software. full exhaust, CAI, bigger injectors, 95mm MAF, SCT tune (and of course clutch and IRS upgrades) would be the way to go. hopefully i can pick one up soon. getting tired of only 1 Mustang, lol.
NO ONE! and I mean NO ONE uses hypertech. Best combo out there is Diablo Sport and UPR 2.91 Pulleys, JLT Intake proved itself to me, and basically any exhaust (except flowmaster keep that for your F150) will put you well over 400 RWHP. From there its on to ported eatons and KB's if you really want serious boost and from there its on to crank shaft and flywheel mods... dont forget that clutch either.
yeah sct can design you custom tunes (idk about diablo) cause if your gonna put a pullyand forc more air in you have to let it out through a bigger exhaust ...so this test didnt show much on this show
@kt007ss i wouldnt say any exhaust there are major differences i would go with a straight through design like borla and there tips everything they make is stainless it will never rust and they have a million mile warranty not all brands are the same and flowmaster isnt the only bad one
i agree. Nobody that modifies the terminator uses hypertech. Who the hell puts smaller pulleys but doesnt change the intake and exhaust out. thats retarded. They should have got way more power out of those pulley changes.
thay dont go all out on tv with cars that cobra putts out 390hp

Full catless exhaust, 2.87 pulley swap, intake, and a good custom tune and you'll see 500 wheel horsepower easy.
That's around $2500 worth of parts. These cars are just beastly. There's no other car that will get you that kind of power for that kind of money.

mustang cobras have a 15 % DT loss so 364/100 x 15 = 54.6 + 364 = 418 hp at crank. . more proof the cobra was underated. but im sure you knew that
