  • WOW that was one of the best videos i seen for an up n coming pilot...i jus made the transition from 120sr to mcpx and already learnt to hover and move left to right (took about a coupla hours). i need to learn the turns and nose in as its a different ball game to the 120sr and msr, but im sure ill get there soon. Thanks for the vid!!!!

  • Omg, I'm in my 10th flight (E-Sky Honey Bee V2) and i still can't do a nose in hover.i take my hat off to you sir, good job

  • @mihax209 hehe, put your hat back, I wasn't able to do nose in hover either, I had to keep the heli in movement in order not to loose it's controls. I had HBV2 too, sold it away quite a while back, but that was the heli I really learned how to do nose in hover, and stay in it, good heli, slow respond but very stable :) ... anyways, it's easier to fly circles (lot like a plane) than keep hover I think. Have a nice time with the heli ! :)

  • Good on ya mate. Good video. I got the Blade 450 yesterday and am taking it slow. My first flight only got 6 inches off the ground but I did not crash it. I was thinking how the F*** am I going to fly this thing??? Your video has shown me that it is normal to feel this way. When the weather gets better I will have my next flight. Thanks!!

  • Wow, absolutely love it. I just started with helis so i am far behaind you. Still flyng a micro coaxial indoor.

How is the torque eliminated in a single rotor heli like yours?

Many thanks for the video, very inspiring in doing more.

  • @bingobongo32 Well, micro and big coaxials are good way to start. I did too, and could've never handle single rotor without them :)

Do you mean tail torgue ? Well with tail blades obviously, and 'coz this is belt driven, the angle of tail blades are changed to turn either left or right. And there is gyro controlling the tail so the heli keeps straight, or almost atleast :) If I accelerate the motor really quick the tail usually turns abit with stock electronics.

  • I'm a girl and learning to fly RC helis and I love it! Do you have any tips that you think would help? I have a couple videos on my channel if you want to check them out. I subbed! Have a great day! =)

  • Dude I just got a Blade CPP2 and today was my 1st day at trying to fly it! Ontop of that the wind factor today was like 10 mph constant winds and like 25 mph gusts! >.< I was loosing hope and going threw blades left and right couldnt keep the damn thing in the air for more than 5 sec! Btw this is my 1st CP heli and I was starting to doubt my ability to learn without burning a whole in my wallet! But thanks to this video I now know I must slowly learn and not give up!

  • @kj908studio Well I didn't / haven't come a pro my self either :) but I know when you recognise it's gonna take lots and lots of practise and small steps and bit of money too, you have a very good start :) If I'd do this video today, I would do it bit different, as I don't show enough all the preparations I had, like watching videos here for hours and hours, using sim and picking the best calm days to practise :) Good luck for the future flights :) and glad this video did some good :)

  • @AxsFin Heh your a pro to me ^.^ any way you could make more videos or help me out by talking to me and pointing me in the right direction that you went cuz you deffinitly got thier! How do I go about getting a sims? Still waiting for a calm day! Been so windy I am getting mad >.< but maybe tomorrow morning will be calm I am crossing my fingures cuz I dont have to work till 2 pm! Thanks bro I really need skillz and alot of luck to learn this thing and maybe fly without wrecking it!

  • @kj908studio I have about 10 vids of my Belt progress... but I could brake the first 12 flights better, gotta think about that. I didn't have any masterplan really, just tried to learn something while having fun, or I guess it's more like nerve wrecking fun :) but you know that already :) Yeah, you definetly need a simulator, any sim will do. Easiest is to get USB sim controller if your current doesn't hook up with PC, and then download free FMS to start with... not the best, but free.

  • man... you r really good student... you'll be a good pilot someday...

helis can be addicted... especially doing 3D... you'll shakes ur thumbs and knees... even sweating a lot... but all I can say is... Flying 3D heli is awesome... that's why I love it... keep going man...

  • @MrDeclansmith Thanks ! "back then" I was hoping to learn how to master helis, and I was very passioned about it. But I got stuck soon after these vids. Later I was lacking the time and after winter it was hard to get back to speed... so I got more involved with planes. I didn't quite believe in just better parts or didn't have guts to buy bigger heli for windproof flying. So the fire is still burning and waiting the right moment to start more intensive training :)

  • hehe....=) its easyer to say that, as to do it!!! I have not much money and because of that Im afraid to crash it again. Because then I will have to wait a time with repairing my heli... :( check out my new vids!!!! Regards Aleksandarvidovic57

  • @aleksandarvidovic57 I know what you mean, I've learned it after this video :) If you check few more of my videos, you'll notice I've got my share of good and bad times. But yeah, in the begining I was in good position to learn, I had just enough money to repair it, and since I didn't crash early, I build lots of confidence really quick, which is obviously the reason for the crash eventually :) ... You seem to be doing good I think :)

  • did u use a sim btw not bad

  • @halosuck99 oh yeah I did, free FMS. With out the sim I would've been so screwd :)

  • hey AxFin I have ordered the honeybee cp 3 and I'm gonna do the progress videos to!! I'll post them on youtube soon. I will post a comment when it's arrived!!:D

  • @bboyjs sounds good :)

  • Alright mate, nice Video 5*

I have just ordered mine for £204 with delivery and watching your vid kinda gave me a heads up as to where to start, my total flight time is bout 4hrs on my other chopper (nothing special) and our vid is pointing me at what to learn first on my new chopper

Thanks for the vid fav and sub

  • @matty2213 Thanks ! :) Take it easy and good luck ! :) ... not sure though if my video is the best tutorial one, but that's how I did it anyways.

  • Most people don't pick it up that fast and many will have had at least one crash within first 12 flights...

  • @trondyne One thing I forgot to really underline was that I prepared A LOT with YouTube videos, especially the NightFlyyer videos, which I watched like 3 nights a row to seem 'em all :) ... well, I'm soon to make my 1 year video, so I check, but I think there is way over a month time betwen those 12 flights, so it wasn't 12 days. I know everybody "can't" do it, but it's possible. And it's all at "knifes edge" anything could've gone wrong anytime, there was luck too !

  • @AxsFin

Another major factor is pucker factor.. In other words, it's much easier to take chances if you have another chopper waiting in the closet. On the other hand if you barely have the money for parts and are a nervous pilot (that happens after a crash too) then things change, your brain will stop you from getting far outside your comfort zone so you learn slower.

  • @trondyne That is so true. At that time I knew I had money to repair it few times, so basicly it was not a big problem. Right now, it is a problem, family is getting bigger, spare money... what spare money ?? :) So now I'm just taking it easy. I got my self HBV2 later to get the more relaxed feeling (cheaper) and own two helis. It worked. Back then I was 100% heli guy, now I'm 50/50 in planes, since the cheap glue fixes most problems.

  • @AxsFin

Planes are more relaxing... I like planes too..working my way up to warbirds...haven't flown my cypher in a while.. If I want to fly the chopper I have to make sure it's dialed in and then when flying it's always deadly serious.. Planes are a walk in the park... :)

  • You can do et !

  • are you sure your not a pro and just pretending to be an amateur lol! But I remember my 1st hover for a full battery, and thought "man I rule!", then on the second battery crashed it into a bush at 1 feet.. broken servo and bent flybar, thought to myself "what an ass!"!!! :o)

But it's worth the pain and cost, because when you tell some people that you fly RC helicopters, they normally say it's something they could never do! Hell, it's nice to be able to boast about something eh?

  • @LeChave Hehe, hey Thanks ! :) When I look those videos now (about 9months later) it's easy to see how it was flying at the 'knives edge', if anything would've gone wrong, it would've been certain crash. So I was lucky during all these flights and build great confidence. But after first crash the reality hit hard and I got some additional mental challenge. Now after winter, it's lots of work to get hang of it again. But yeah, worth the pain :) I noticed your profile pic, lots of blades ! :D

  • @AxsFin fraid they aint blades, they're King3's! 2 repaired ones and one "virgin" one.. I also have another one in bits as spares! So if i have a fatal crash (again.. hence the one in bits lol!), spares are at hand! Once I get more comfortable, I'm thinking about a 450-500 sized heli! But seriously, you've done really well! It must be hard to find the practice time with a demanding little 'un as well! (and an understanding missus too I presume lol!)

  • @LeChave I would like 500 size too. I was thinking even 600 size, but I really can't afford either. Though Belt is really good practice heli. I was thinking quite long between Belt V2 and King3, but Belt came available sooner so I got it. You're right about having little practice time, all that video material is gathered from about 2 months time. I still own only one battery. Then I had one toddler, now I have two ! So it's gonna be tight schedule this summer.

  • its true the belt cp heli is to hard for fly its true coz im a beginner player now im already buy the belt cp v2 but still cant fly can u teach me and give me some advance

  • Great work you really improved fast.I've been flying a Honey Bee FP V2 for about 4 months and have pretty much mastered it and have just received my Belt CP V2.Still setting it up but can't wait to fly it

  • Sounds good :) I really like HB V2 too, I've got one my self few months ago, lot less stress and it flies great. Well, Belt is gonna fly lot bigger ofcourse :) beware of the controls, Belt is far more sensitive.

  • @AxsFin Thanks for the tip:) I'll post some vids soon so check them out if you want.

  • I will... I'll sub you right away :)

  • Thanks.I'll sub you as well!

  • @AxsFin yup rc makes my hands shake and makes me nervous to for some reason even though ive flown for years with no major crashes it still does

  • @RcUniverseGuy Well I'm not alone then hehe :) though I have little experience in comparison, but even so... I've never could've thought RC as so exiting, if you just look or think someone flying RC stuff, you just can't even think how exiting it really is. But it's good to hear the exitement isn't likely going away :) ... I guess the little annoying shaking is kind a addictive too. I have no expensive models, but I like 'em all and don't wanna break them.

  • @AxsFin you are so much better than me. I have had my belt cp v2 for ages and there are so many technicle problems that seem to come causing crashes and worn out parts. I can hover mine pretty well but thats about the limit since any other movement will cause it to fly left ( has always been the main problem) and i difficult to get back under control. Proffesional help has not fixed my problem yet.

  • @blackhawk438 Thanks, but yeah I hear you, after I've done little crashing with mine, it's got pretty unpredictable too. I think it worked just fine when it was new... but... not anymore, it still flies alright, but... not quite precise. I think once I've done more learning with it, it would be time to get better quality heli.... but that's not gonna happen soon though.

  • Sweet! Yeah, I picked up on it pretty easy myself. No Sim.. too me about 5 flights to start to get the hang of the Micro CX Heli-Max I have. I really like that Belt CP.. Gonna look at picking one up. :D I just want to wait till spring so I can fly it outside.

  • Wow you progress really quick in just 3 flights your hovering was nice 5*

  • Thanks a lot for this video. I have had a couple coaxial helis that I flew like a pro. My first attempt with a CP ended badly. You have given me new hope.

  • Thanks ! :) If it feels little too exiting to fly CP, get your self FP ! I got my self HoneyBeeV2 too for hovering and orientation practise heli, it's lot less intimidating and so it's easier to concentrate. Also cheaper to fix. And I can have a quick flight at the front yard during winter, it has helped a lot to really get hang of nose-in hovering and such. It also stands freezing winter temperatures quite well.

Good luck and happy flying ! :)

  • how many times did u crash during these 12 flights?

  • None. I crashed little later, maybe 15th or so, and again while testing the repairs. Either wasn't very bad, but broke little this and that, some footage on my second video.

  • hi guys, just got my heli, had a small crash on second day no problems, it is now 1 month and i am going to start going in circles with my heli, wow what a great hobby i am so glad i didnt rush it

  • Got a sim? Looks like you do from your quick progress. Did you remove the FB weights? My experience is they actually make the heli harder to fly by causing a delay in the cyclic response. BTW you are so ready to remove that training gear man. I use pipe insulators from Home Depot on my skids if landing in tall grass.

Now save up for a T-Rex 450 clone, they are actually cheaper than a Belt CP and higher quality but come as an ARF so you gotta set them up yourself.

    -Brian

  • Back then I used FMS, got USB Tx with the heli. Now I'm using ClearView. Nope, haven't moved the weights, I've never knew those could be removed ? Yeah, I haven't been using the training gear in a while now. I've got better radio "in stock" already, and in time I'll get better kit I guess, but for now Belt offers more than I can handle. Oh, actually I "downgraded" just a while back and got HBV2, but I find it really useful for hovering practise (different angles), sim just ain't the same.

  • You're right, the sim just ain't the same. You just can't simulate the nervousness of flying for real. But Real Flight is pretty doggone close and I hear Phoenix is too. Clearview is good for practicing for the most part but it ain't even in the same ballpark as RF. I hear Heli-X is good, but have'nt tried. You can download Phoenix for a trial I think and I've been meaning to try it.

  • Better sims don't work on my laptop. ClearView is maybe the best that works. Heli-X would too, but when I tried the demo I don't know if it's really that different compared to CV - and it has planes too. I've noticed it's easy to master some basics in sim very quickly, but once in the field, all nervous and exited - it's easy to just kind a freeze when something doesen't go as planned... or just get confused with orientation.

  • Nice video!!! by the looks of it you are a very quick learner!!!! And you are totally right you have to overcome your fear and thrust your instinct. Fear can hold you back in the learning process. In this video by flight 6 or so you had to loose the balls!!!! (hahaha Frear held you back????? lol ;-)))

  • Good video, I have one of these on order.

    Looking forward to the fun.

    Good luck.

  • Thanks! I'm sure you'll find some good time with it. Good luck for you too ! :)

  • nice documentary you have here! heli is fun isn't it! :)

  • Thanks ! Yeah, indeed. Too bad it's winter - cold and dark most of the time, windy too. Kind a waiting the summer already so I can pick up the phase and fly more and enjoy the light.

  • You're well on your way to becoming comfortable in winds that your heli can handle. By this time next year you won't think twice about flying in 10+ mph winds. I'll bet this heli could easily handle up to 15mph winds with no difficulty.

  • Nice stuff dude!

Tjerstr0m tipped me on your clips.

    I'll be watching!

    Ray

  • Thanks ! :)

  • great video

  • excellent flying and excellent video, im just about to make the step from coaxial to single rotor and your vid has given me extra confidence, good job and happy flying

  • Thanks. Good luck for the next step ! :) It's bound to get very very very exiting :) Take it slow and easy so you'll avoid crashes better. Are going for FP or CP ?

  • Great flying there for such a newbie to 3D helis. U gotta get rid of that training gear though.......u r way beyond training gear. The Belt CP V2 looks so stable. Amazing.

  • Thanks. Gears gone a while now... I guess I was holding on to it quite long... eh, not sure why anymore. Felt more secure I guess. Yeah, Belt seems fine heli for the price, and it's all factory settings in these videos.

  • It's great to see your progress. I wish some others would do the same and I hope you will continue with updates. If you could do it again, would you buy a different ccpm heli, bigger maybe, or are you happy with the belt?

  • I try to keep up updating every now and then. Hmm... I don't know, I've been really happy about Belt. It's fairly cheap, nice size and enough performance for me. It was spot on choice at the time I think... Sure I want more, maybe bigger maybe just better... but I can take time to buid one and enjoy it later on. Meanwhile Belt does excellent. After practise, I think it can withstand little wind too.

  • You have done EXCELLENTLY!

Great flying it shows starting with a coax does help you progress in orientation and stick control.

By Flight 7 you are kickin ass!!!

  • Thanks! Never could've done it without coaxials, never !

I've now doubled the flights, but progress has been quite settle. Got familiar with ground contact too :) But wanna get comfortable and smooth with the basics before even thinking ahead.

  • I'm following you by getting a lama v4 and now gonna get a belt cp v2. Thanks for showing that it can be done comfortably!

  • Yes it can... just take it easy and humble. Have you noticed most early crashes happen when there are many friends around ? :)

  • Gday from Australia.

    Fantastic progress!!

I went from Nothing to a Blade 400 & I must say I found it, not so much difficult, as extremely challenging and confronting, at the same tome extremely rewarding.

    i have only been flying it for about 2 1/2 months..about 50 or more flights, 4 re-builds! :)

It's fantastic fun and I am hooked..as I imagine you are too.

Well done! ( I have posted vids of my heli...with on board vid too)

  • Thanks ! Wow, I never could've manage without coaxials to start with, never ! You got some guts :)

I only wish I'd have that many flight behind me, I've flown about 23-24 times and I've had her about 4months. Only few small crashes, but then again can't do stunts or anything... and gotta be economic too. Quite fresh family, demands time and money.

You seem to have loads of videos, gotta start checking 'em out someday ! :)

  • Good job, i'm 2 crashes so far in about 12 flights lol.... once the training gear is off it's easier to fly

  • off with your training gear!!!!!

  • Hey man! I'm about to do exactly the same thing you did, go straight from a coaxial helicopter to an Esky Belt CP V2!

    Would you reccommend this helicopter?

I was gonna by it from Xheli

p.s- You are definitly not alone with the exited, shaking hands feeling and GREAT FLYING

  • Yeah, I think I can recommend it. I mean I don't have experiences with other CP helis so can't compare it ! But I don't really have anything bad to say about it, especially when concidering the price ... Can't say for sure it it's me or the heli, but it doesn't seem to like wind.

Thanks! and yeah, shakes are worse than going into dentist :D ... although I think it's about to ease a bit ... slowly :) ... Good to know though ! :)

  • Oh and as additional piece of information. I guess you know most recommend HoneyBee FP for first singlerotor. It makes sense, 'coz fixing Belt can cost shit loads of money. But I've now crashed mine twise (small), and the money I've used to fix it equals almost one new Honeybee. But that money also includes all required tools, and I have few parts left over too.

So ... opinios opinions :) I have no regrets getting Belt though.

  • Most folks take much longer than that to learn... Might as well have taken off the training gear....

  • Well, I'm definetly not naturally talented at anything, so I believe taking it slow (mindful) and with humble attitude, it really ain't quite that hard. And free sim is nothing but helpful... and I had flown Lama before. And what I've learned here is just a scratch of the basics, but I think you know this stuff already ?

  • Yeah phoenix is a brilliant sim. Defo reccomend it.

  • Great vid mate. Glad to see you get the 'shakes' too!! I recommend Phoenix flight sim as its the best graphics, cheapest and constant updates with new models and scenerys. Also you can go online with it!!

  • Yeah, 'shakes' is a good definition :) Even I saw plenty of videos before getting in helis, I just thought it would like RC car, just harder... hehe, little did I know :) Gotta keep that Phoenix in mind, wouldn't hurt to have good sim afterall.

  • It is definitly time to get rid of the training gear, awsome flying.

Some advice, don't fly near anybody expecialy your child, those rotors can do some serious damage just by touching them. The tip of the blades move at some 200Mph.

  • Thanks. Yes that is true, it wouldn't hurt to keep more distance. Sometimes we use camera zoom so there is wee bit more distance than it looks, but then again, heli is so fast, out of control it's nutin but a blink of an eye and it's ten-twenty meters away... I'll keep that in mind for sure.

  • time to loose those training gears great flying!

  • hehe, Thank You... just wait till the "part 2"... I'm in the zone - at crashing :/

  • Hello again =) must ask one thing, i'm ordering my belt cp v2 in the end of this mounth and i'm wondering were you got that harness if its the right word :P you know the thing thats holding your transmitter 4 you =) or maybe whats its called. don't want to lose the grip on my transmitter and crash my heli because of that. hope you have a good time with your belt =) Sorry 4 my bad english, hope you can live with it :P

  • Sounds good :) Yeah, I know what you mean, it's called "transmitter suspender", who knew ? :) anyways, I got it from Finnish net store but if your looking to buy one I found mine in the transmitter category. The weather has been awful for two weeks already, fall is coming, so I've got long brake from flying. I ordered my self tiny singlerotor 4ch indoor heli for bad weathers during fall and winter :) hope it'll be good :)

  • okay thanks =) a tip if you can get your hands on AeroFly Professional Deluxe get it! its an gr8 sim that works just fine with the transmitter from the lama =) that sounds like fun 2 me :D what heli did you get? =)

  • Well FlyCamOne2 is easy. Records on a memcard (I use 1Gb). And the 90degree adjustable lens is obviously the best thing. I'd rate it "Great!". I payd about 80€ so price, light weight (even LamaV4 can pick it up) and video quality equals good comprimise. All Flycam videos are taken at evenings or cloudy day, so when there is more light there is less noise, and i've also used editor to sharpen the image a bit. I've used it on a cheap plane too, also takes nice image from higher up.

  • well done man really good progress i to am learning to fly with belt cp v2 im on my 7th flight now love it im interested in the fly cam r they easy to use? the quality looks good on your vid how do u rate the flycam?

  • Thanks! Have fun :)

  • Excellent Video. Excellent progress. Nice flying. Give's me more confidence to fly my Belt Cp v2 a bit more aggresively.

  • Yes, I've only used FMS. Even it's not quite that realistic, yet the stick movements are right enough to learn the orientation. At this point I rather buy a actual heli than expensive sim.

  • okey =) sounds good are about to do the same later =)

  • oh one more thing about FMS, if you wanna get some realistic feel, get the heli little in the air and press "5" from numkeypad, it locks the camera, then you won't get any hints from moving camera and it gives lot more realistic chance to practise hovers and stuff... And press "5" again to unlock it...

  • thanks man that tip was like golden, hovering, tail in & nose in was a lot more realistic in that view =) where are your next vid flying your belt? =)

  • Great! :) hehe, we'll see, the weather has been bad, and forecast seems kind a shitty too... winds and rain. I don't feel like I need the challenge of wind just yet :) ...so I've actually flown my Lama inside, almost forgot how much fun it is when there is minimal stress of braking it :)

  • okey, i'll have my eyes open =) indoor flying is always fun and yeah the helis in the lama series aint that hard to fly =)

  • hello again =) did you do some simulator time and if you did what simulator did you use?

  • Nej, jag leva på Finland, jag tala inte svenska bra :) I don't have enough experience to give tips really, but I have to repair my Belt and it costs 60€ and that sux. So HoneyBee might not be bad starter after all, but I was told it has low wind resistance, so I bought the biggest "cheap" heli I could. You know during winter it's short days and sucky weather. Big = Stable. King3 wasn't available when I got my Belt so it wasn't option for me. Check my training gear reply on previous comment.

  • Hehe okok =) i ain't going to buy one today so, hope it will come one with the same price tag thats bigger then the king 3 =) me like big :D wellwell keep your heli in the air and post more vids so i can come back and see more =)

  • Hey i got my lama v4, it have become a bit boring to fly, indoor is still a lot of fun but outdoor ain't that fun because of winds and shit. So i'm thinking of geting my lama a few months more and then get at bigger one like yours cpv2 or the hbk3 don't know the differences on them only that the hbk3 seems more easy to setup and fix after crashes :P any tips? =) by the way where did you get your "training gear" ?? tyckte jag hörde älskar du helikoptern, är du från sverige? mvh

  • Where did you get that training kit? Mine is flat and so the landing is much harder than yours....

  • I also feel obligated to tell that I've now crashed my Belt. 4 flights after the last video I had little mishap with it... so far it seems I get away with only few parts, I hope. Gotta say it was combination of lack of skill and pure stupidity. Summer is turning to fall and evenings are getting darker, yet, I'm keen to fly it, and I usually find time at evenings, so lost the position and angle to the dim treeline and came crashing down, almost got it in level, but too hard landing anyways.

  • i think you should be pretty proud of your self mate ....thats good flying in that time ..ive been trying now for a couple of weeks with my belt cp and have had a bad crash ...just bought crash kit v2.wondering why your still fliying with your traing gear on when your going that good ? adam

  • Thank you! I'm hoping the training gear to save me if I make mistake but can almost correct it in time. I've seen video where king2 landed too fast and the blades hit the boom, so getting it almost in level and adding throttle could save me just in time... I don't know, added feeling of security. Also the orange balls make it easier to track the angle. I've crashed my Big Lama so many times I've used same gear with it, and it has saved lots of blades.

  • ummm, why did you go from 3 - 7 and miss out 4, 5 and 6, and soz but i dont believe you got that good in flight no 7

  • 'coz I usually fly at evenings. Had no cameraman (wife) with me. Besides flights 4,5,6 were exactly the same as 3, just hovering, trying to get hang of things. At the end of flight 6 I made my first nose-in flight, and first circle. I took that feel and used sim to get confience with the movement. That's why 7th time was bit of surprise for me too. Didn't mean to go that fast, or high... and hands were shaking afterwards... But thank you anyway ! I do base this video on honesty !
