This was my favourite show of the 80's. Its a shame there were only 2 seasons. Everything about the show was so cool, Ray, the car and that brilliant theme tune. Would love to get this on DVD but it's only available on region 1. T.V. is so crap now. They can't make shows like they did in the 80's.
The pilot to this show was sick! It was 2 hours and I never forget how cool it was. The series really couldn't live up to the first episode though. The fight scene at the very end, the camera work, music...it was cool as hell!
@firewalled1951 Hey fireballs, what planet are you from where a woman who admires a man is a faggot? I think you're the real "faggot" here --come out of the closet already, ya old bitch.
This was a very challenging TV series in my opinion.....not like the junk nowadays. Stingray was always one of my favorite action series back in those days....like Hardcastle&McCormick, Airwolf or The A-Team this was good entertainment.....not like that stuff nowadays.
I've been renting these from Netflix. I had seen only one show in the mid-80's and I'm glad they're out on DVD. Stingray is a very cool, complex character. Like a one man A-Team.
I remember that in any unarmed combat scene, the 'Ray' character used Hapkido or Tae Kwon Do fighting technique. I recognized the moves by the stunt double and because 'Ray' was so good at it was another reason I enjoyed the series. My friends & I always talked about the fighting scenes we saw in the show before attending Tae Kwon Do class back in the 80s. We were fans of the 'Ray' character played perfectly by Mr Nick Mancuso. There should be a remake for the new generation!
wasn't he the guy who helps people out of problematic situations and not accepting any payment except a favour that they would have to give him in the future?
if yes, then i have finally found a series that i loved when i was a child... couldn't remember his name...
I had the honor of watching Pete Carpenter conduct & perform popular 70's & 80's TV show themes (like The Rockford Files & The A-Team) at EPCOT Centre, Disney World in June of 1984. I believe he was there briefly as a guest conductor. He and Mike Post have composed great themes all this while and the Stingray theme is my favorite.
Thank God, finally found this opening theme of Stingray!
I was shocked when I first saw this theme. It was too awsome and cool for me and was my first English TV drama that I was interested in a lot though I didn't understand most of them.
Never heard of this but it has a nice sounding theme intro, as most series back then did. I have to find out how many seasons it lasted. I'm more acquainted with a certain 1973 White Stingray Corvette TV series: The Magician with Bill Bixby which my channel is all about. Keep the faith! Sam.
Sadly, only 2 seasons. NBC cancelled it, then realised, 2 years later, they had cancelled a hit series, with a 24% audience share on Tuesday nights. After cancelling, their Tuesday nights fell significantly to a 12% share. 2 hour "Pilot" (1985), 1st Season (1986) and 2nd Season (1987). Total number of episodes: 24. Should of ran A LOT longer than "The A-Team", also created by Stephen J. Cannell.
Hitcher, I agree completely. Another great Mike Post theme as well. Interesting, that you mention the corollary if the A-Team, another SJC show. I remember a particular Stingray episode with Rachel Ticotan about migrant workers and wonder if the subject matter was too truthful for audiences back then
Das war ne coole Serie. Die habe ich damals immer geschaut, wenn man bedenkt was heutzutage für ein Mist im TV läuft, da kann man nur mit dem Kopf schütteln.
This was one of my all time favorite tv shows! It had it all, cool, laid back guy, great car, and the best theme song of all time. I could never understand why it didn't get the ratings and stay around longer?
Anyone remember the episode where he went to collect on a 'favor' from some female, and she said 'I cant do that'. And he was like 'ok thats how it goes, darn'. After that I was a little miffed with him because he let someone break the pact, the rule of the trade, i do you a favor, you will owe me one, no questions asked... I thought that idea was pretty studly
This is one of my favorites TV shows of all time. In mater fact, it still is. It's a shame that Nick Mancuso decided leaving the project at second season's end...
some one on the show once ran his car tag and it was listed as part of the presidents personal cars at the white house at the time so some thought he was secret service or part or the presidents famliy at the time -loved the show -you are right 80 shows were the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Michael Wincott is a name who comes to mind. He pretty much likes working on movies, but he would've been the only other one besides Mancuso who I could picture in the role of 'Ray'.
Recuerdo aún esta serie, era de mis favoritas. Y recuerdo también cuando lo anunciaban en el comercial. Su única pasión: La aventura. Su único compañero: Un corvette del 65. Stingray, a donde va deja una señal

@duskyhued476
You're a woman?
Wow, I never would have thought so since you profess to be attracted to women in your other comments on other youtube videos.
You say that you really would like to bed those women so I thought you were a normal man.
And then when you come out with a statement that you think that Nick Mancuso's lips are sexy, leads me to believe that you are a FLAMING FAGGOT.
Now you try to get out of it by "claiming" to be a woman.
Your username gives you away.
