despites the remastered versions there,re still peoples wich say,s that the original lp,s sound better.
the problem is that cd,s has a limmited sample rate of 44,1 khz,lp,s has a sample rate of 76 khz, that,s 32 khz more than cd,
but putting those cd,s in a 24bit upsampler and/or releasing the remastered versions on sacd will overcome that limmitation,to get even better sound then on lp,s
I think these are fab. They sound better to the ears. Though the originals are a ton better - no argue about that. But heck, this is worth the pretty polly and all that deng too!
I'm not gonna buy these albums, I have those on vinyl, I love the original vinyl Beatles albums a lot better than the remastered CD's. They're pretty cool, but I'm keeping them. I might post these from my Beatles albums on my GE Wildcat.
How do you know? You didn't buy them so how can you compare? For your information the CD's sound bloody good. And yes I have them on Vinyl & yes my turntable cuts it
I have a question -- My old stereo receiver (from 1978) has a switchable option stereo/mono mode. So, if I'd buy the stereo remasters and select the mono mode in my receiver, would it be the same as buying the mono remasters? In theory, there should have any difference, am I right? I've tried with stereo cds and it really works (mono mode kills the stereo effect, everything plays in both speakers)...
The mono versions were (and are) different mixes. Nobody does it this way anymore but back then there were two separate mixing sessions, one for the mono and one for the stereo release.
I'm not implying the songs are different songs, I'm saying that they sound VERY different. Some songs are sped up some are slowed down. Hell, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds has a different pitch, vocal effect, and loudness on different instruments. Sometimes it's just a missing instrument. A lot of the songs sound better because the combined channel gives the rockers more power and heart. It's not always better, but it's worth hearing and sometimes it IS better.
they didn't change any pitches or speeds, all's they did was remaster the mixes to sound more stereo/together like versus the cheap bad sharp mixes of the first cd reissues of the records. re panned instruments, turned up or down some sounds, that's it.
Damnit you don't get what I am saying. The REMASTER was doing what they did in the 60's with high quality. But between the Original and the new MONO and STEREO masters there were a SIGNIFICANT amount of differences (which I pointed to above.) The mono release isn't just the stereo cut back. It's an entirely different thing. If you knew a thing about the Beatles you would know that. Why do you think they would release it in mono? for laughs?
I believe paul actually did have a motorcycle accident in 1965 or sometime around that. In that accident he busted his lip pretty bad. In later photos and videos you can see the scar on the left side of his upper lip.
i still don't think paul is dead, i mean come on,! in order for albums like sgt pepper or abby road or the white album to sound really good and beautiful, it needs all 4 originall beatles, and they do sound pretty darn good
its good but i think i prefer the older ones or originals maybe beacuse im used to listening to them for ages but its ok, revolver, sgt pepper and abbey road are the best out of them. white album is great too.
this box set is worth it!!! sounds like they did the record this year or a new record!!! about 20 years worth to wait to listen this new remastered tapes!!! worth the money for the beatles fans!!!
When u listen to Back in the Ussr, The sound is so clean, that u have the feeling that they're live in front of u, w the guitar amps cranked loud to have a hint of overdrive... LOVE IT... Looking to buy pls pls me since they fixed the instrument vocal volume ratio in the promo...
ABBEY RD 09 SOUNDS LIKE SHITE.. ALL I CAN HEAR IS THE BASS GTR SOUNDING LIKE A SYN.. BASS TONE.....THE VOCALS SOUND WRONG,, NOT STRONG........THEY ONLY GOODTHING IS THE cardboard sleeves...some pic are cool some just make paul look good.. but over all get the MONO
I think this whole remastered thing is a lot of crock. I have the White Album and there is a maybe 15 % improvement on before but nothing like what people go on about. Maybe the early stuff shows more of a big enhancement.
I can't wait till they finally release these on the Zune Marketplace because they would sound amazing on the Zune HD I will be getting with the Bose Headphones I already own.
If it weren't for the 1999 re-release of Yellow Submarine, I never would've noticed how mind-blowing Ringo's drumming and George's guitar-playing is on "It's All Too Much".
I really wish they'd release the entire catalog remixed in 5.1 like they did with Yellow Submarine and Let It Be...Naked. I got my box set yesterday and was hoping for a better sound out of it. Don't get me wrong, so many of the songs sound wonderful (especially the first four albums), but the original mixes are what made the 1987 CDs sound so weak.
Revolver is WAY better...I'm Only Sleeping, and Tomorrow Never Know sound amazing...Rubber Soul, Sgt. Pepper and The White Album are probably the best remastered though...Let It Be sounds completely the same, Across the Universe actually sounds worse than the original.
i love how one wants it to be cheaper and another wants it in some outrageous quality on a barely existing format to be played on equipment you're sure as hell not going find at walmart.
To anyone who has already bought the remastered stereo boxset - have they fixed the "instruments in one ear, singing in the other" problem in the new stereo versions?
I love the Beatles to death, no other band will ever touch as many lives as these guys. But...
...There is something simulataneously hilarious, ironic, yet sad and enraging at the crap you can sell wih a "green" label.
Its a limited edition collectable,so they made it...bio-degradable.
If I want a collectable, I want it to last damnit! And if you want to be "eco-friendly" MAKE THEM ALL ECO FREINDLY! Not the 3,000 ones you pay an extra $30 for.
Im sure this is a super well done remaster from the actual master tapes. There's been so many pseudo remasters that are just hotter re-eq'd stuff.
I have to ask - why not SACD or Blu-Spec, DVD-Audio, SHM versions of these? Imagine the remasters in higher resolution?! Wow. But these look FABulous! The packaging is stunning!
As for LPs - Vinyl is great, but to really enjoy vinyl you need to clean them records really well, get the right turntable and stylus/cartridge, amps, speakers, its WORK.

Be proven more information doesn't mean better sound or vinyl warmth IMHO. You can still get yinyl 40 after the initial
There's is no real point in remastering The Beatles now that the CD-age is virtually over. For those who want to hear them like they sounded in 1965, reissues of vintage equipment should be made available, along with the Beatles' original LP's. They should put the original 4 & 8 tracks on the web so each can choose for himself which revelations he wants to hear or not. For the 2009 versions a Cubase or Logic project file should be downloadable, containing the settings of the remaster.
Considering the price of other box sets, this is pretty reasonable... My brother got the 300 dollar Radiohead box set. I don't understand why anyone would pay that much for such bad music.
Yes, but it still doesn't justify the price. It really isn't worth it, unless all you ever listen to or care about is The Beatles. I love The Beatles, but not THAT much. I'm perfectly fine with the ORIGNAL remasters. I mean, as an audio engineer, I know how many times you can remaster one song, but there really pushing it.
I'm not trying to start an argument, but if you were to give me the master tracks and like 5 months, I would remix all of their songs with pelasure. For free. Espically with the Rock Band Beatles coming out soon (Which means master track torrents galore!). I'm going to start remixing all of there songs and puting them up on my YouTube. I actually have a remixed song on my YouTube account if you want to check it out to hear my method...
I will not be getting the stereo or mono box set. I am a Beatles fan, but not big enough to shell out money like that. I wonder what hardcore music fans think of these new remasters. Most purists like the sound of the vinyl records. Which is undestanable since that medium offers a higher sampling rate. With these CD's they are going to try and mimic the sound of the record. Which is fine. Will be cool to hear these songs in a new light so to speak.
I like the way the songs sound, especially "Please Please Me". Are the songs in this video stereo or mono? I'm planning on buying the stereo box set because it's cheaper than the mono box set.
I grew up with their first four albums in stereo on LP records. Finally, the stereo version of the first four albums will be out
with thses new CD releases. I haven't heard the stereo version in years, only mono versions from the old 1987 CDs, so I am very excited about these new remasters.
So I see a White Album poster replica jump back into that copy of the CD there! So I take it we're going to finally get The White Album on CD with the poster and four portraits replicated! We already did once, in that lousy 1998 30th Anniversary edition that wasn't remastered! MONO BOX SET?! Droooool.
Mmmmm, the 30th Anniversary of The White Album was released in mono? Not to my knowledge. As a matter of fact, it wasn't even remastered. But it was packaged like a miniature version of the album, with the portraits and all.
It's about time this was done. Mastering technology has moved on massively since the Beatles CDs were originally released 20 years ago. They sound flat and lifeless compared to modern CDs, and although I'm not a massive Beatles fan I'll certainly buy a couple of them.
Another good thing is that the 1st 4 albums are going to be (officially) available on CD in stereo for the 1st time.
No, wait, let me rephrase that: I really hope these aren't the remastered versions here, because they sound like major shit. They've obviously been heavily compressed and the balance of the different parts is all fucked-with. I noticed the difference most with the earlier stuff provided here, as the early stuff was never meant to be heard in stereo and just sounds strange. I'm certain neither Geoff Emerick nor Norman Smith would approve.
in plenty of XXI century the refresh sound of the beatles, the wonderful work of engineers on Abbey Road must not be limited to the already and old Compact Disc, WILL BE AVAILABLE ON "SACD" "Super Audio CD" using already of 300,000 Samples/s (Vs. 44,100 from CD) from stereo to 5.1 Channels Sound, that capture entirely musical spectrum these are really "Master Quality" Sound
Other fast and easy choice can be launch the collection on HDCD "High Definition Compatible Digital" CD is a 24-bit sound encode-decode process improves audio quality of standard CD´s while retaining backward compatibility with existing CD Players, there is no additional cost for buy a HDCD Disc, The HDCD decoder in present today on millions of CD & DVD Players and PC´s with Windows Media Player installed, , today more of 5000 titles are on HDCD including Madonna GHV2, Mike Outfield, Roxette.
SACD Super Audio CD is a CD can store some GB of information and deliver a audio quality of 300,000 Khz. vs. 44,100 Khz of normal CDA., SACD can support "Studio Audio Quality" transfer sound directly of "studio masters" the higher resolution in SACD let you hear sound clearly (analog sound) and not hear a plain digital sound of CD-Audio, in the market are hybrid SACD that have two layers, one layer can play on any CD Player and the other in a SACD Player offers studio quality sound.
The Beatles remastered albums are coming Help, their going to take over abbey road with their rubber souls and revolvers in their yellow submarineits gonna be hard days night trying to get those CDs a lot of people fighting over them
LOL! I just joked about that date with my mom and sister today! 9-9-9 upside down (or is it rightside up) is 6-6-6! BUT it could be referring to the almighty "Number Nine. Number Nine. Number Nine."

Which is fine. Will be cool to hear these songs in a new light so to speak.

I like the way the songs sound, especially "Please Please Me". Are the songs in this video stereo or mono? I'm planning on buying the stereo box set because it's cheaper than the mono box set.
arnelmesa 2 years ago
Stereo; the songs have sound on both sides.

the original parlophone LP art looks amazing on a CD

I grew up with their first four albums in stereo on LP records. Finally, the stereo version of the first four albums will be out
with thses new CD releases. I haven't heard the stereo version in years, only mono versions from the old 1987 CDs, so I am very excited about these new remasters.

So I see a White Album poster replica jump back into that copy of the CD there! So I take it we're going to finally get The White Album on CD with the poster and four portraits replicated! We already did once, in that lousy 1998 30th Anniversary edition that wasn't remastered! MONO BOX SET?! Droooool.
MattHatter 2 years ago
Wow, I've got that box set! Never noticed it's mono!
tigarx 2 years ago
LOL! What do you mean you've got that box set?! It hasn't been released yet!
MattHatter 2 years ago
I was talking about the 30th anniversary edition of the white album
tigarx 2 years ago
Mmmmm, the 30th Anniversary of The White Album was released in mono? Not to my knowledge. As a matter of fact, it wasn't even remastered. But it was packaged like a miniature version of the album, with the portraits and all.
MattHatter 2 years ago
Can't wait for the box sets to become avaliable for pre order!

Paulph04 2 years ago
this is going to be fantastic i was wondering about the sound level will it be high
lake40 2 years ago 2
they have had a slight touch of overall limiting and a volume boost, but nothing too drastic that takes away from the music
thefadedline 2 years ago
Sure people will be complaining about the sound of these as soon as they come out because that is what people do best.

Yes Bellyflops, with Beatles fans being what they are, "It won't be long" before someone starts complaining.

If these are the remastered versions here...
I'm certain neither Geoff Emerick nor Norman Smith would approve.

these are the old 1987 cd versions.
and this is youtube. you can't judge the quality of a recording on youtube!

I think the Past Masters set is better than the Red and Blue set.

Will there ever be a need for a remastered Red and Blue set? I don't think so.

Oliver2518 2 years ago
SACD Super Audio CD is a CD can store some GB of information and deliver a audio quality of 300,000 Khz. vs. 44,100 Khz of normal CDA., SACD can support "Studio Audio Quality" transfer sound directly of "studio masters" the higher resolution in SACD let you hear sound clearly (analog sound) and not hear a plain digital sound of CD-Audio, in the market are hybrid SACD that have two layers, one layer can play on any CD Player and the other in a SACD Player offers studio quality sound.
