Have you ever considered purchasing any of the WW II Timely Captain America Comics? I know they are a bit pricey but some of those Golden Age covers look great.

@TheGLOCK40cal You need to see if there is a comic book store in your area. Some older issues can be found for a dollar, some are 1000's of dollars.

take a look online at milehighcomics to give you an idea of pricing.

@chromiumcomics I have no idea any more...I got the song from my "best of the Incredible Bongo Band" album...but forgot which track I used. Maybe you can do a youtube search as most of the Incredible Bongo Band's tracks are somewhere on youtube. Oh and let me know if you find it :)

@chenbur I only collect Silver Age Marvel books from 1961 - 1985. Avengers #4 is the first Silver Age captain America book and in 1968 he got his own series, the series started with issue #100 as a first issue. There was a Captain America #1 back in 1941 but that's Golden Age and out of my collecting interest. I have Captain America #100 (first issue) through to #450

If you can get an Avengers #4 for $45 I would run, not walk, to go and buy it. Even a VG copy is now $350 - $375. A NM sold this month for $21,425

how do you know whether a comic is a reprint or not?

that would be indicated in the indicia on the bottom of the first page.

Yes, depending on the book, it will say "second printing" or "originally from...." if it's a reprint.
