  • If you dislike this, you probably dislike Jesus too.

    elma

  • <3 his voice

  • It appears to me impossible that I should cease to exist, or that this active, restless spirit, equalty alive to joy and sorrow, should be only organized dust....ready to fly abroad the moment the spring snaps, or the spark goes out, which kept it together. surely something resides in this heart that is not perishable....and life is more than just a dream...

  • This is one of the 1930s electrical "recreations" of Caruso's recordings in which a small orchestra has been superimposed over the original - which can still be heard in the background. To my mind, this is more effective than the overblown, symphony orchestra used in the modern digital versions released in the last decade or so.

  • molto bello

  • Questa è Napoli!

    This is Naples!

  • There is nothing more beautiful in this world than Pavarotti singing "Caruso".

  • ¡¡¡ Maravilloso,emocionante !!!

  • Caruso and Shalyapin are the best singers.i think so.

  • who was better caruso, lanza, pavorotti?

  • i want to listen to this when i'm dying, it would be my dream.... Oh my Lord...

  • BRAVO !!!!! would be an under statement

  • Soberbio................

  • IL MARCHESEDILETINO E' MOLTO MOLTO MEGLIO!

MARCHESEDILETINO AND THE 'MUCH MUCH BETTER!

MARCHESEDILETINO Y EL "mucho, mucho mejor!

    MARCHESEDILETINO ET LE «beaucoup mieux!

MARCHESEDILETINO i el "molt, molt millor!

  • io la userai come inno nazionale!

  • so beautiful. che bello. questo e vita.

  • Delightful.

  • We can discuss the others, but Caruso is the best. No comparison as much as I love Pavarotti.

  • This voice makes ships climb over mountains

  • Caruso, one of the most greatest male singers, for me, the best

  • I love the sound of a record! ^-^

  • SENZA ALCUN DUBBIO IL PIU' GRANDE TENORE DI TUTTI I TEMPI.

  • superbo

  • Truly a heavenly voice~

  • the best ever!!

  • This is Neapolitan Enrico singing a Neapolitan song - feel free to listen any other performances for comparison. If you find a better one by another artist, let me know.

  • @tomfroekjaer I mentioned before that I prefer this version because it takes me back to the Neapolitan era like no other. Sure, Lanza does it very well, but his version just doesn't give me as strong a feeling for the era.

  • @wiseroldfart Caruso and Neapolitan songs. Can hardly get any better. Lanza was an Italian American - couldn't ever communicate the same as the Neapolitan Caruso.

  • @tomfroekjaer I always put Caruso on a pedestal by himself& it's really unfair to compare anyone with EC.Many tenors held Caruso in the highest esteem, stating that Caruso was the best. Including, but not limited to,Lanza,Pavarotti MDM,Di Stefano,Corelli&Volpi.I think Di Stefano,Gigli&Schipa sing the Neopolitans songs quite well, and everyone else is just so so.It can be said that no one communicated the so called American songs as well as Lanza, Espescially the very famous Italian&Spanish Tenors

  • the best of all times

  • the best rendition i've ever heard!

  • Bravissimo

  • i read his life story and it is very inspiring and it proves that 'an idle mind is devil's workshop!" So we must keep on working hard against all odds like him! :)

  • antonio paoli was his father

  • Surprisingly good and clear sound,I have some Caruso's CDs and it sounds very muddy and ancient, you did good job here

  • Enrico was indisputably great but Lanza's version was better. Whenever I hear anybody else, it just cements for me that as controversial as he was, Mario has no peers vocally. His life was all too short but then again, Caruso didn't live to be an old man either. Mario went out at 38, Enrico at 48. We are fortunate that both were with us.

  • Wonderful!

  • MARAVILHOSO,GRANDE CARUSO,O BRASIL TE AMA!

  • Beautiful :-)

  • Amazing, he has been gone 90 years today and he never been replaced.

  • @Lovelytenor1 I know this is written two days late, but I still agree with you. I am unfortunate to not have been born yet during his time, yet he is one of my all-time favorite singers. Thank goodness we can still hear these marvelous recordings..and I hope they will still exist for future generations. His recordings should be a good starting point for those newly-acquainted to opera, as well as required listening for fledgling opera singers.

  • He sings to my heart.

Viva Napoli !

  • @avantisavoia1 ti sei dimenticato il grande renato carosone

  • Is this the Soundstream processed version?

  • @albertusj I think it's from the 2002 CD "Caruso 2000."

  • questa è musica NAPOLETANA NO ITALIANA.......QUESTA è NAPOLI NON IMMONDIZIA,CAMORRA E MALAVITA..............FIERO DI AVERE NAPOLI COME MIA CAPITALE............VIVA LA CAMPANIA E NULL'ALTRO.......

CON LE COSE POSITIVE NAPOLI E LA CAMPANIA NON DIVENTANO PIU IL PATTUME D'ITALIA..QUANDO INVECE SI PARLA DI DISCARICHE DI DISOCCUPAZIONE DI MALAVITA ALLORA NAPOLI DIVENTA IL PATTUME D'ITALIA.....FIERO DI ESSERE CAMPANO DI APPARTENERE A QUESTA MERAVIGLIOSA REGIONE

  • One of my favorite Caruso records. It displays his wide range of tone color, plus his control of dynamics, from his soft pp to his broad, barreling forte. My Lord, what a voice, what a sound, what a technique:) --

  • I'm proud of being italian thanks to people like Enrico Caruso. :)

  • Interpretazione perfetta, daltronde non poteva essere diversamente, perchè a musica classica napoletana ottimo interprete sempre napoletano!....Grandissimo Caruso!

  • so fabulous!

  • The Great JOHN can sing it better than Caruso.

  • How Fantastic he would have been with modern technology .By far the best ever.

  • Happy Birthday Enrico - 138 years old today, February 25th.

  • Caruso inmortal

  • The Italians are the best artists. I hope an Italian American will become President so that our nation will be an oasis for the arts. I pray that an Italian will be the next Pope.

  • @anatolepushkin FALSE. Alfredo Krauss, Monserrat Caballet, Plácido Domingo, Josef Carrera, etc are not from Italy. They are SPANISH. ¿an italian president like berlusconnii???? no thanks!!!

  • @oasisdelparaiso Whatsamatta for you? You no lika the man who lovah the woman???

  • I love the way the orchestra follows him - rather than the other way around.

  • One of the many songs I remember from my childhood, my Father sang to us children, so many years ago, where does the time go.

  • @Micelli1947 Ditto....my Dad used to sing this one a lot also :)

  • this brings back my child hood days when my dad would put on Caruso and Lanza records every sunday...love it...

  • this bring back my child hood days when my dad would put on Caruso and Lanz records every sunday...love it...

  • The original orchestra didn't sound like this. This is likely a re-release with an electrically-recorded orchestra dubbed over the original.

  • I just got the book "1001 Songs You Must Hear Before You Die". This is the very first song listed (because the book is in chronological order, starting in 1916). This is a great song, and is indeed available on iTunes. The book lists the writers of the song as: Giovanni Capurro and Eduardo di Capua. The Producer is Uncredited, and the Label is Victor Talking Machine. Album is: N/A.

  • excellent stuff, but needs echo

  • Don Enrico is King!

  • This reminds of my childhood on the east side of buffalo ny,watching the expression on my fathers face, while remembered his mother and father. it brings tears to my eyes everytime.

Che bella cosa na jurnata 'e sole.

  • Wonderful.

  • Net slofff.Gorgeous!!!

  • How quaint!! Thank you!

  • A nostalgic memorable treat... thankyou

  • You're right...sorry about the inaccuracy. You posted a beautiful song...maybe one of the top 10 most popular...people everywhere seem to know it and know of Caruso. As kids we used to even do pretend opera singing in front of the girls and this was the song most of us "sang." Fortunately, our parents bought the recording and that settled that.

  • On a YouTube interview, Franco Corelli says that "O Sole Mio" is the most difficult song he ever sang. The reason was because the song must be sung all the way through with full voice--there's no room for fudging. He says that Neopolitan songs are like that. Well, Caruso needs no introduction and everyone loves him. Students should listen closely as every singer can learn something from this giant's effort.

  • I believe you're referring to a video called "Mario Del Monaco's last interview" where Del Monaco talks about Neapolitan Songs, including "O Sole Mio" and how it has to be sung at full voice. He does mention Corelli in the video though.

  • @blakemooney Or seeming lack there of :)
