However, IMO, the reasons for them are more cultural than genetic or ideological.

Egypt is also on the USCIRF watch list making it one of the worst dozen countries for human rights & religious tolerance. Coptic Christians are persecuted & groups like the Muslim Brotherhood continue to commit violence against Christians, Jews & non-conforming Muslims with impunity from, & possibly with the complicity of, government officials.

That's a gross distortion of the truth.
You're referencing, I think, the Wik decision of 1998 (which the UN criticised, as did many Aussies) but there is no "Racism Blacklist" as far as I'm aware.
I'm not going to defend Wik but it's a far cry from one dodgy judicial decision to the government condoned, if not assisted, racial violence in Egypt & elsewhere.
The fact remains that, regardless of their criticism of Wik, the UN still consistently ranks Australia in the top 10 for racial equality.

Yeah, the controversy was that many people thought that, although it was technically a win, it was touted as a breakthrough for indigenous Australians but it actually amounted to little in practical terms.
I make no comment either way as I am not familiar enough with the details of the case to make an informed decision, but that was my point.

Not true. Only a tiny minority of Aussies are descended from convicts. Most are descended from people who immigrated here from scores of different countries in the years after transportation ceased to be used as a punishment. Others are descendants of free settlers who also came to Australia at around the same time as the convicts.
It's a widely held myth among the ill-informed that all, or even that most, Aussies are descended from convicts & criminals. The truth is far less clear cut.

In regards to having 'criminal stock': Did it ever occur to you that the British justice system at the time was somewhat different from what it is today? Look at the charges that warranted transportation (you can view the records at Hyde Park Barracks): an orphaned 11 year old girl who stole an apple. A 13 year old boy SUSPECTED of stealing a 6-inch length of ribbon. Assuming the fuckers who prosecuted them stayed in England, I'd be more worried about English ethics than Aus ;)
