  • testing the steadicam: "that went well. im not bleeding too badly"

  • A quick fix at best, I would suggest saving a few bucks more and picking up a Cam Caddie SCorpion for $38. I've been using one for the past year and it's helped me capture dozens of smooth quality shots.

  • is that supposed to be steady? that is not a steadicam. that is a stabilizer. a steady cam uses a ball joint or equivalent to keep the camera perpendicular to the ground at all times.

  • can you tell me why the audio is so down

  • camera shakes left -> right -> a lot...

  • Go watch youtube Rickvanman and search for Steadycam. He made a really good one and he also bought a really good one for $150.00 dollars from a company from India.

  • Best steadycam video I've seen yet plus love the commentary, Ouch!!!! Gotta watch out for that rose bush!

  • Wow. I just love the initiative you show in solving the problem of camera shake. I was also quite impressed by how much improved the steady-cam footage was. Very cool!

  • i think you should put more waight so i could be more steadi

  • Thanks for making this video. Love your nice garden ^_^

  • I had fun doing the video, I'm a incurable gadgeteer. Glad you liked the garden, I spend a lot of time in the back yard it's peaceful and attracts lots of birds and squirrels.

    Thanks for your kind words.

  • You're welcome! ^_^

I'm going to buy a Poor man's steadycam hope it works well with my camera ^_^

  • i wish i could use my sniper BB gun in your garden :D

  • and what, shoot gnats? LOL!

  • @granadajohn man, and i thought my grandpa's garden was good!

  • I was looking for some footage of the DIY Steadycam with a Flip. This was just what I was looking for. Thanks!

  • I know you enjoy it as much as I have.

    thanks

  • Nice house and garden!!!!

  • I used a mono-pod that I already had and used a c-clamp to hold on a 3# weight from my set to the bottom of the mono-pod. I like having the mono-pod because you can extend it up high to get shots over crowds, etc. I'm sure I will need a steadi-cam of some sort with the new HD FLIP Mino.

  • I used a mono-pod for years (and still do) you should also check out my video on the XShot. Its not a mono-pod but it great for the "over the crowds" shots.

I'd love to know how you like you HD Flip

  • The monopod can be extended so the weight is near the ground - letting you rest it on the ground between moves. Or you can lift it high to get those over the crowd shots.

  • I've built one after viewing your page., I must say you have to practice walking with it ., its a certain technique you have to use in order to obtain maximum stabilization. Even with an $8000 steadycam ou will have to practice a lot to be able to use it effectively. Comparing my footage to that of the expensive steadycam; you wind up with the same exact results if you practice the special walk

  • I agree, practice is a major part of getting all these things to work the way you want them to.

I hope you are as pleased as I have been.

  • you should try to run with it.

  • Your right, but with two bad knees the best I can muster is walk with a limp. That said, it works well for me. I believe you will find for the price and time it takes, it's money well spent. If you were close to SFV I would encourage you to come over and take it for a run.

  • Great instructional video, I think the first trip around with the steadycam was the smoothest.

  • Thanks Dragonlady I think your right. It was very hard to concentrate on keeping it steady while going through the rose bushes, so its unbiased
