Yeah, have a good drink before you start drilling a 1/2" x 1" deep hole in your beloved guitar! Seriously, I used a 1/4" jack/guitar strap button, which takes a 1/2" hole. I don't think you could put it in the conventional spot because there's no backing there, just thin Cherrywood. Other option is a 1/8" pickguard mounted input jack which would take drilling out of the picture. Good luck either way...
I'm actually planning practically the same project but with schatten thumbwheels instead of normal pots. Just wondering if you had any tips on installing the output jack.
It's side (pickguard) mounted. I was going to go neck mount for a more solid setup, but the 5th ave has a side radius where it would have been attached and would have had to bend the fragile mouing arms...
I play mostly rock/pop type stuff but as a songwriter, I like to have lots of different instruments to write with. I also wanted an acoustic with a different feel and sound for recording.
So far I am really impressed with the quality and tone. It's very easy to play too. Much more guitar than I could ask for at this price level!
I'm sure it will record well for you and it is truly a great price for the quality & great style you're getting. I hope to get many years of pleasure from mine and the sound will only get better over time. Only tweaks I've done is to lower the strings a bit and I will soon experiment with different strings to see how the tone is affected. Want to go heavier guage, but a bit concerned about the extra tension, as they are built quite light. It should handle it, but will check with Godin 1st.
hello wildkattraynor, adding this pickup is such a great idea, i will do that too! could you tell me how the sound is? and dont you have feedback problems?¨
Feedback is a small problem in larger rooms where you have to turn up. I angle the amp away slightly and EQ it to keep it at bay. I still love the tone after a year and will keep my 5th ave for jazz gigs for many years...
How do the strings feel?I still play acoustic, and the strings are too stiff on it.

Any updates?
I just picked one of these up today. I couldn't resist. It's a pretty cool little guitar!

That's awesome! What type(s)of music do you play and how do you like playing it so far?
Re updates, I hope to have it finished in a few more days - will post a short clip to show how it sounds...
