This reminds me when I was younger and and I watched my grandma cook in Greece during the summers. I think the people on Anthony's shows (like Dominga, for example) really like showing how they cook in their homes. I know my grandma would. : ) She would be proud and happy!
After reading Tony's account of the iguana incident in the companion book, I was curious how honest he got to be on the show about what happened. What it doesn't show here is that he was strongly against eating iguana from the beginning but the food network people insisted on it. When they couldn't find an iguana in the desert, they ended up killing the hotel's pet iguana to serve to him. That is why the man is reassuring Tony that "he wants to die" in the previous clip.
Try sweet tamales. Tamales Jarochos are my favorite. That iguana was still kickin when they put it on the comal. I bet adrenaline affected the flavor.
Some people just try to make the gringo regret coming to Mexico. They are ignorant. Tamales are regional and recipes vary from area to area and from family to family. Some people make tamales and leave bones in them. Some don't. Try traveling Mexico (south/central not border) and exerience the food before you profess being an expert.
My family owns a Mexican restaurant and just by looking at the way the woman made the iguana tamales I can tell right away that she is a rotten cook. Hopefully Tony will have a better experience when he tries this dish by someone who knows what they're doing.
@draconian45 well im a chef and im tellin ya that bitch had no business even turning a temp knob on a stove lol. not only could she have BADLY poisoned tony by serving him undercooked reptile, but i personally have tried it and it's the most god awful meat known to man. it smells like frog legs but tastes like....god i cant even describe it...it's absolutely fucking awful..if it is stewed for hours and hours and hours with other powerful flavors...it is tolerable...at best
I'm glad Tony was honest; however, I really think the lady was just a bad cook because I heard iguana is very good. It's like going to one Mexican restaurant that makes awful food and then saying that all Mexican food is bad.
yeah I wouldnt eat cereal at the bitches house
