I flew a few times and I've never heard this strange sound before. And I always had next to wing/engine seat. Where is it coming from? Turbine has a more like a whistle sound not internal combustion engine with bad cams sound... I'd probably shit my pants if I were to fly with that sound arround :D
The location is in the title of the video...ORD. That is Chicago O'Hare (which is in Illinois, which is in the United States - in case you are from overseas). :o)
@onecunningfox I went on American to Chicago last April, Chicago wasn't my final destination but i love the 777-200ER engine sounds, think it was the same flight as yours, did you land around 12-1pm chicago time?
absolutely remarkable! the takeoff is always exciting, but the fact you demonstrate how fast the plane is going over the clouds is just about as good as it gets.
Then dont watch it and stop dick nosing around and watch what you like. You must have been very bored to post a comment to a video you though was throughly boring. Get a life.
What do you expect to see? The plane do a barrel roll? What imagination can one add?
On behalf of myself and plane enthusiasts around the world - piss off and dont come back.
Great video! My question is, why do they throttle back and then immediately throttle up again? This happens like 3 or 4 times - it's almost like they can't decide what power setting to put the engines on. This freaks me out consistently when I fly.
The best 777 take off I have ever seen, great footage! Ill be going from LHR to EWR next year, I hope it turns out to be like this because I've never been on a plane bigger than a 757 LOL :)
There are some nice details in this video, for example the wing starts to flex and you see the air above the wing looking like mist, right as V1 is reached and the pilot rotates. Then you see in the second climb the trails of condensation on the engine fin pushing air above the wing. I always wondered if it was pushing the air down. Now I know it helps with lift. Good stuff, thanks for posting the video.
At about 2:48-3:00, is that moisture being sucked up via the fans from the runway or is it taken from the air? Just curious coz its rare to see this when the runway is relatively dry....
"Mrs" ?? LoL. The feminists are going to have a cow over that. Regardless, Ms or Mrs, if there is a chick in the cockpit and I know about it, I am not setting foot in that plane. I have many more years of life ahead of me that I look forward to enjoying.
why deos every say FULL POWER TAKE OFF!!!??? it is always full power when taking off or it woundn't beable to reach take off speed (80Knots). And so it WOUNDN'T be able to get into the air! still nice vid though.
It gets people to watch it and thus, since I have a revenue share of Google ads, more money in my pocket. Its all about marketing my dear fellow. Relax.
I flew on a United Flight 777 sitting in the way back...the take off is powerful and my seat flew back and broke from the power of it. 777's have power and need a special place to park at LAX because of it's size.
At maximun weight the 70,000lbs of thrust from the Trents would have had take off speed at 210 mph - yes indeed, an awsome video - thanks for sharing!!!
What are you doing then dick-nosing around and watching these types of videos if you do not like them? We know why you are speechless, because you have something stuck in your throat. WOW!
really? why the cheesy tags just for views? people would watch anyway. There is no such thing as "most powerful" takeoff.. they all take off on the same power setting all the time. The tags ruined an otherwise good video.. why don't you just put "shocking must see" at the end too?
Thanks for the heads up. I didn't realized that the skinny looking 757 was a hot rod as well as the 747. I alwayse thought it was the cute 737 or A330 that were the hot rods.
Big jets like the TriStars and 777 seem slow. Love your videos.
Why don't the pilots keep the engines on full power until reaching cruising altitude? Every time the engine goes quieter it sounds like it's going to stop - not helpful to nervous flyers!
one of the best aviation videos i've seen yet. amazing plane, engine, and power.. liked it when you broke out at 8:30 as well. damn that takeoff was fast and sexy! amazing video sir keep it up

wow, this is an amazing video. i love the sound. actually for some reason this noise sounds like my inverter split system, when its fully running it sounds like this then it ramps down. thanks for all the info on how powerful this is.
01:12 I can't believe that's a 737. HUGE. And the take off lasted from 1:55 to 2:45. It took a minute for takeoff. Weird seams as though heathrow's runways are so small
We were climbing for a while. Any further questions; ask Capt. Fitzsimmons. She is one of the best Captains American Airlines has and certainly among the best in the world.
I suppose you will have to get onto one of her flights AND sit in First Class or catch her in the terminal before or after the flight.. She does a lot of ORD > LHR > ORD.
@onecunningfoxHow do you measure how good a pilot is though? i'm certain your Captain on your flight was very very good/experienced, but so are many other pilots. Love the video :)
What was the temperature outside of your house 14 months ago? I cant remember my friend - I will gues 34,000 feet (FL 340) - that is a good average...
Great video. Some comments of these type of videos are, well unreal. I fly triple 7s of American a lot between Brazil and Dallas, and just last week CDG back to DFW up front. Flight is usually around 34,000 feet to US, and about mach 0.84. Noise lessens considerably at cruise. Coming into Sao Paulo, due to mainly rough weather over northern Brazil, we are almost always upto 40,000+ before let down in Sao Paulo. Triple 7 is one of the most efficient, second to the new 787 only.
W Wilson - thank you for finally posting a comment that makes sense! I guess you have to ride up front to realize that the triple-sev makes almost no noise when cruising. I get that question all the time and it is annoying.
If you like, please see my other videos for more familiar views of AA flights. Godspeed.
You are correct - it looks like a Trent - because it is a Trent! As such - you are correct again that it is not the most powerful engine either - That is the GE-90115b (for 115,000 lbs of thrust)

So quiet when crusing - you wonder if they are turning...they just quietly rumble along (liek a huge V-8 going 75 on teh highway) using very little thrust.
@tim60s321 no they do not....when reaching FL they become silent...like the GE90is and oll other Engines...have to do with the Higher Speed and "pushing" the Shock waves more in the back, also the throttle is not anymore on max. . The GE90 sounds awesome during Take Off when they go on Full throttle...but shortly after Take Off and if you seat just nearby its loud and almost anoying high frequence sound....cheers
That is the absolute most made up, bs, silly comment I have ever had in almost half a million+ views of my videos. Do the pilots you speak to sit on the wing? (The GE90-115b's are almost dead silent during flight - especially in the forward part of the cabin.)
@onecunningfox Agreed.. The Reverse Rotation of the Rolls Royce is messed up anyway.. They all have that "Loose Fan" sound... annoying as all get out. I will stick with my GE90's also.
in theory would it be possible to make a 777 sea plane that could land on water or would the weight of it make it impossible to build a water landing system that could handle the forces on landing without creating drag
It is ready. Unfortunately, you are seated in Coach, and no daquiri's are supplied in that section of the plane. You can have my seat for a few minutes though to enjoy your well chosen beverage!

@oakleyxmetalxx

I've heard that a jet engine consumes more oxygen during takeoff than a human does in a life time. I wonder if that is true or not.

That is such a beautiful sound and that aircraft is really zooming

Cool vid, though I personally prefer the low howl of the GE90 to the buzzsaw of the RR

in theory would it be possible to make a 777 sea plane that could land on water or would the weight of it make it impossible to build a water landing system that could handle the forces on landing without creating drag

Your Video is Awesome---Ditto on breaking through the deck and coming above in excess of 400 kts. Get the feeling you were step-climbing.

Sounds like a blender... Is my daquari ready?

@radtech21
It is ready. Unfortunately, you are seated in Coach, and no daquiri's are supplied in that section of the plane. You can have my seat for a few minutes though to enjoy your well chosen beverage!
Godspeed.

Confused? Is it a 777 or a 767. If t's a 777 is it a 200 with the Trents, or a 300 with the GE's?
