Savickas won by only a few seconds. He's taller, favoring him to reach platform heights easier. These tests are "relative" not always absolute. Remember Vince Anello, dead lift specialist? He could outdistance others by having an unusual back structure. His back seemed shorter, or "compressible," so his hands were closer to his knees in lockout stance than any other lifter I've ever seen. I think Savickas could do better than MP versus Sylvia as ZS is closer to Tim's height natural plus.

dang that was fast. i remember when completing them all was a feat. then doing it in under 30 seconds was a big deal. now, about 23 seconds is the time you have to beat in order to win. wow.
Impressive! These stones are INSANELY difficult to lift. My gym has 4 of them, 280, 320, 360, and 424 lbs. It took every single ounce of strength in me to just load the 280 lb stone on a 5 foot pedestal. And that's where it stopped. Didn't even come close to getting the 320 lb stone. These guys are animals!

The only competitor that i was happy to see beating Maruis was Savickas. He's a worthy winner.
Remember Marius started his training late as he was suffering knee and calf trouble at the beginning of 2009 which led to no training for a few months effecting his fitness come WSM 2009.
In my opinion Pudz is the greatest strongman ever to grace the competition and has done wonders for the sport.

The reall strongest man event in the world is Arnold classic strongman, zidrunas won several times, they use really heavy weights there...Mariuz cant even handle the heavy weights in that event so he stopped competing there...
in the 3 times there he was 4th, another 5th and another time 6th
Zidrunas won it 6 times, so to win the WSm he actualy has to come lighter and less stronger because he needs to have more stamina.

Did you know that in the 80s WSM competitions changed so it was about more than strength? It was about strength and athleticism. Many of the less mobile competitors cannot make it into the WSM because of this. Pudz gets chash money for winning, if you were stronger and better whywouldn't you go win that money? Because it isn't easier. It has to do with athleticism and strength, not just Baby Huey events.

While mariuz cannot win an arnold classic due to heavyer weights used, zavicas can win a WSM event as he did in 2009...if mariuz and a 180 pound skinny guy, put 20 kg in the back and run 2 miles who will win? the skinny guy, who is stronger? the skinny guy that won or mariuz? Same goes for WSM and arnold events, one is strenght and endurance using lighter weights, other is pure strenght and power.

Finally we get to see the best winner. Savickas has been beating pudzianovski over the past few years. Pudzianovski won't even compete in the arnald classic, or fortissimus" the strong events ". The main problem with the wsm is it is not about outright strength. Wsm needs heavier weights and 50 seconds instead of 75. This sport needs better coverage in england and let's get it back on BBC, much better than bloody bravo.
To me the question should be reversed. WSM has a much wider variety of strength competitions. Strength should not be limited to just a few different powerlift events; muscle endurance and balance should have more incorporation in competition. Maybe the Arnold Classic isn't Mariusz's gig, but he's either won the WSM or come very close all these times because he has more overall strength balance, where this overall strength is put more to the test. That to me is a lot more.

i dont say that savickas is not a grat athlete.. he is a very strong dude .. ok i admit that he is maybe a bit stronger than mariusz , but he is not as fit as marius and besides at this time mariusz has especially trained for mma not for strongman...and i dont think that savickas could fight in mma

The only competitor that i was happy to see beating Maruis was Savickas. He's a worthy winner.
Remember Marius started his training late as he was suffering knee and calf trouble at the beginning of 2009 which led to no training for a few months effecting his fitness come WSM 2009.
In my opinion Pudz is the greatest strongman ever to grace the competition and has done wonders for the sport.
Lets see if he take the win next year, would anyone bet against him with any conviction!

if his fat gives him so much more power then maybe pudz should get "fat" too.....there are a lot of events in which being tall is a disadvantage so it evens out. Savickas is strong as hell and an awesome athlete so get off Pudz nuts for a minute and give credit where it is due.

The reall strongest man event in the world is Arnold classic strongman, zidrunas won several times, they use really heavy weights there...Mariuz cant even handle the heavy weights in that event so he stopped competing there...
in the 3 times there he was 4th, another 5th and another time 6th
Zidrunas won it 6 times, so to win the WSm he actualy has to come lighter and less stronger because he needs to have more stamina.

Its not a question of believing or me saying..its a fact it happened its on video, its in the results of the arnold classic strongman...search for all competition history from both athletes and check why Mariuz never got to be among the best in the Arnold classic strongman...its a competition using really heavy wheights ..too much for Mariuz

Did you know that in the 80s WSM competitions changed so it was about more than strength? It was about strength and athleticism. Many of the less mobile competitors cannot make it into the WSM because of this. Pudz gets chash money for winning, if you were stronger and better whywouldn't you go win that money? Because it isn't easier. It has to do with athleticism and strength, not just Baby Huey events.

While mariuz cannot win an arnold classic due to heavyer weights used, zavicas can win a WSM event as he did in 2009...if mariuz and a 180 pound skinny guy, put 20 kg in the back and run 2 miles who will win? the skinny guy, who is stronger? the skinny guy that won or mariuz? Same goes for WSM and arnold events, one is strenght and endurance using lighter weights, other is pure strenght and power.

Finally we get to see the best winner. Savickas has been beating pudzianovski over the past few years. Pudzianovski won't even compete in the arnald classic, or fortissimus" the strong events ". The main problem with the wsm is it is not about outright strength. Wsm needs heavier weights and 50 seconds instead of 75. This sport needs better coverage in england and let's get it back on BBC, much better than bloody bravo.

Why hasn't Marius won 6 times the Arnold Classic? He never even got on the podium.
Savickas was 3x runner-up in 2004 beating Pudzianowski. He is also 2x IFSA champion and 1x Fortissimus.
Sorry but this is a lot more than 5x WSM + 2x runner-up and 1x third place.

To me the question should be reversed. WSM has a much wider variety of strength competitions. Strength should not be limited to just a few different powerlift events; muscle endurance and balance should have more incorporation in competition. Maybe the Arnold Classic isn't Mariusz's gig, but he's either won the WSM or come very close all these times because he has more overall strength balance, where this overall strength is put more to the test. That to me is a lot more.
