Those are two completely different hits.

1.This is from behind, while the receiver was coming down with the ball, he wasn't TRYING to hit him in the helmet.

2.The receiver was juggling the ball, giving Ward a reason to hit him, unlike the Masoli hit.

3.He didn't lead with his helmet, if you watch closely he was leading with his shoulder/forearm and trying to hit him in the shoulder

4.If you watched the game, you could tell Ward felt terrible about it, along with the rest of the team.
