anyway if it ryt, then my hypothesis of wat wud hav been happen.

she took help of her family (by calling using mobile) or her room-mate or other friends. and get a fake hand, pretend to it, and scared the seniors. seniors were so scared, they didn't bother to check the hand is real or fake. and nobody tried to mesh with her later.
