It's amazing how gorgeous their racks (yeah yeah, insert boob joke here, ha ha ha) can get when hunters aren't out there trying to nab the ones with the largest racks every year...which is bad for conservation, by the way. I'm not against hunting, but many hunters aren't very smart about how to preserve strong blood lines/bigger bucks for the future.

@gary77777778888888 I am not actually from Saskatchewan, but I assume they would have some oil, but not a lot. To hunt in Saskatchewan you have to either be a resident of Saskatchewan, or have a native take you, or go on a guided hunt. I believe the guided hunt would run you about $5,000. if you google "Saskatchewan hunting regulations" you will find a government website that you can download the regs. they will tell you eeverything you need to know.

The difference between our ancestors HUNTING for FOOD is that they often would only be hunting the weaker of the herd. Today's hunters are often (not all of them) are hunting for sport and they hunt the biggest and strongest and the best of the species for their sport. there is a big difference between hunting to eat and hunting for sport. But not from the animal's point of view I'm sure.

If they say it's big buck only or doe only then THATS WHAT IT IS. Not only that, but we kill the largest buck because he has already spread his grenetics to the herd. we kill the big buck to ensure genetic diversity within the herd. I like hunting, It's called "resource manegement"!

He has these traits, and because of that he has mated with several females and his DNA will go on to the next generation. Females go for the fittest. There will be bucks of his bloodline in the future. Smart and robust offspring. If we were to kill the less fit buck, whom may or may not have mated, then we have a smaller gene pool for the herd to work with.

There is absoulty no way you can argue shooting the big bucks will create a bigger average size, face it. This has already happend in parts of France where trophey hunting has resulted in signifcantly smaller deer.
