thanks, it was actually a d40x its got a 10.2 mega pixel where the d40 has only 6

i guess that's better on paper unless you're making larger prints, by no means is this criticism it's just that most people see themselves as having the better camera solely because they have higher resolution. what sensor does the d40x have?

CCD 23.7 x 15.6 mm, however this wasn't planned on being played on the internet it was designed to be played on a large screen, so alot of the quality was thrown away when it was uploaded. Im not saying its a the best camera, but its greater then a d40.

just have the standard 18-55 and 55-200mm lens. always wanted to get new lenses but im thinking now just upgrade to a new camera.

i'd switch to canon. i have nothing against nikon but imo their lenses are no comparison to canon. i'd recommend getting a second hand canon 40d with an L series lens. i've got the one L series superzoom with my 40d and it's all i need. i've seen some bodies for less than $900, a magnesium body, weather resistant seals, 6.5fps, and if you do buy an L series lens (weather resistant too), it'll work with full crop. or a second hand pentax k20d. weather resistant (not magnesium), 14.6mp,
