Nikon d3 problems: First of the images I got from the camera were incredible, amazing clarity and the noise was hardly anywhere at 6400 compaired with previous digi's. So the final image was great really impressed.

BUT the focusing? I was shooting with a 70-200 2.8 vr and the new 24-70 2.8 lens' they refused to find focus in low light and were seeking for hours. I set the camera focus on one point ai so it would focus quicker and i could manually adjust.

And for the lens „experts: all professional Nikkor telephoto prime lenses - 200/2, 300/2.8, 400/2.8, 500/4, 600/4 HAVE VR!

Not all Canon lenses from focal length 300 mm and higher have IS... for example - 1200/5.6 doesn't have IS. That means one - Nikon is better. And BTW, if you have big lens like this, you need tripod everytime and IS or VR is useful only in „NORMAL mode for sports or wildlife.

If you're new to DSRL (perhaps you're in the market for one?) then the D60 will do fine - no need to pay 4500 dollars extra for a camera that you'd first have to learn how to use (D60 can go AUTO) and then the D3 would not come with a lens either! Then you'd have to buy a proper lens (1-2000 dollars extra again).

Ventg99 yer an idiot. all DSLR cameras are rarely compatible with old glass and definately not old flashes. It may be possible to find old glass from film cameras that could mount to your digitals through either direct threading or step up/down rings, but they'd only be useful in manual focus. I think you're just a guy with a camera, you can't even spell Canon properly. As for your near dark photos congrats. 1600 ISO, tripod and remote shutter and set your aperature

Clearly you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Canon EF lenses are compatible with all bodies since the 1970s. Nikon F-mount lesnes (dating back to 1959?) will fit on all bodies, and correctly meter on DXXX or DX (semi pro/pro) bodies. This is also true for Pentax. The ONLY brand to oust film lenses completely has been Olympus, who've opted for the 4/3 system.

I don't know why the hell you think you'd need adaptors.

Old flashes also work just fine.

Clearly you don't have a clue either. Canon EF lenses were introduced in 1987 with the first EOS cameras and were compatible with only those EOS cameras. Canon's previous line (the T50/T70/T90) used the older FD lenses that were also used by the cameras of the 1970s (ala A1, AE1 ...) .

Please remember that Cannon left all pro photographers out in the cold when it came to being able to use older generation lenses. Nikon took their photographers into consideration. You can use almost all the lenses with their new camera models! The new D3 has shifted the playing field back to Nikon! Cannon has nothing that can touch it. I am a pro photographer and took a series of shots in almost total darkness. They came out great!

The D3 simply does it better than any other camera at present.

I've had all of the Nikon dSLRs from D1 to D2Xs, and D300.

Now I have a D3. This thing kicks the shit out of ALL of them.

As for Canon, sadly they cannot produce a pro dSLR that focusses reliably at the moment. And forget the 5D, it's a hobbyists camera - I'm talking about the 1D MkIII series (D and Ds).

God knows what will come after the D3 but it will need to be truly miraculous to improve on this.
