I think Shakespeare said it best when he wrote, "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." 5 stars for your video.
There are people who believe in different religions and still explore heaven and earth and dream and grow in their philosophy. It is not religion that holds us back perhaps but it is an uncommon trait to embrace new things and continue to grow. Thank you for your comment!
I was raised in a strict religious environment and even as a child I was kicked out of youth services for asking questions about the plot holes in the bible and confronting what I thought was a false and often hypocrytical doctrine. It's lead to a lifetime of conflict with many of my friends and family, but when you know something isn't true it's important to try and show people why you don't have faith. You did that with a much gentler touch than I ever managed. Logical and understanding. A+
Thank you, I have found many religious friends willing to take on my questions, in all fairness the Mormons I have met over these 10 years are very willing to discuss holes in doctrine. It is not a hostile environment but I have expanded my knowledge beyond whan they can explain- the answer is just to have faith, and I simply don't. :-)
Interesting. I know one or two people who have had a radical "change of view" with regards to religion. Then again, I know several more who did (or still do) something against their beliefs (ie something bad), then decided to "change their beliefs" to lessen the guilt over what they'd done. I'm not saying you fall into either category (I don't know you well enough to have an opinion), but I thought I'd share anyhow.
its been a long journey- no regrets. I was not raised in any church. My husband knew me before I was baptized it took a week to accept it. I didn't set out to disprove it I sought to learn it. For 6 years I have learned and questioned. There is no consistency or purpose behind it all no comfort from family who "has faith" nothing for me in dogma. I will still learn and "be good" but I am not in conflict with myself. mother, wife, friend- I sacrifice for my priority= my children
stealth mode haha. It is hard to accept the details of creation offered by most religions. But, for a moment, lets just forget the conventional concept of "god". Think beyond the earth. Look at the entire universe. The size, complexity. All of which we know practically nothing about. Can you rule out the idea of some sort of higher intelligence? Some sort of creator? I can't.
Baptized by my future husband April 1999 we were married in December. I wouldn't change anything, we have three beautiful children and I don't mind allowing them the comfort of religion but I don't want them held down by it. They are free as is everyone, I expect them to... live long and prosper and allow others to do the same :-)

Nice speech :) Did you deconvert from Mormonism recently?
The book of Mormon does seem like a fantasy novel to those of us outside it, and so does the bible for that matter. :)
It boggles my mind how anyone can take thiose books seriously, never mind Scientology!
Cheers
