Tell me about it, I just got a new one that bites me every time I take it out. Has not broken the skin yet, but it sure is unsettling. It seems to be more tasting my hand then anything, so I don't think it would inject venom.

The reason it is biting this guy is that they use their fangs to try to hold onto whatever surface they are on when picked up by the tail. I'm planning on doing this intentionally on video for youtube sometime, though I wont pull nearly as hard for his sake.

For handling, I do this in an effort to get it used to being handled, I do this with my ~20 tarantulas and they are much more tame then my other ones I see. As to trying to get it to bite me, that does not hurt it, it would just be trying to hold onto my skin using its fangs.
