LOL @ 5:50, the guy said" long time no see" ... to a BLIND GUY... lol many different types of humor in that... including irony.. and maybe a bad choice of words
I liked this, but I can't say I agree with the definitions of hackers in the sense of the home brew club. Computer enthusiasts and the early programmers to me aren't hackers. Today you can't call a programmer a hacker, much less a computer enthusiast. My dad works IT and knows a lot about computers, but he doesn't know dick about programming. The word hacker needs to be carefully defined.
@zerocheese I agreed. i'm getting my BA in Computer Science this fall; i can write worms and virus programs but i know very little about hacking computers.
@zerocheese Agreed. When I hear the term "hacker" 4 different definitions comes to mind. Personally I use the term "hacker" to describe people like myself who teach themselves programming and do everything amateur, learn as you go, way. In other words experimenting and "hacking" away at an idea or problem just for the fun of it. But this definition crosses the other definition of "cracker" because often learning and experimenting would include breaking into remote systems for kicks.
Some of the idiots on here! They have no clue that there stupid little angry birds woulnt have happens without phone freaking.(and by idiots I mean kids who were expecting an in-depth hacking tut.)
@pouloukkos09 all bill gates (and steve jobs for that matter) did was capitalize on underground technology and innovation by selling the public "building blocks" for the other activities that pcs were used for, and mostly, BG and SJ are responsible for whoring out technology and making the general public ignorant to the systems and how they work.
@pouloukkos09 if people want to understand the origins of computers, cybernetics, and the internet I recommend two documentaries: "The Net" not Sandra Bullock movie, about Ted Kaczynski and the early cybernetics movement of the 60's that created DARPA/ARPANET and "All Watched Over By Machines of Loving Grace" the new Adam Curtis Documentary about a lot of the same ideas.
