  • How do these compare with K701 and HD650? Better, worse? I know soundstage is great on these, but how is the bass, since usually headphones with great soundstage have weak bass.

  • Does anyone know if you can get headphones (that have padding) with detachable ear speakers?

  • Let's see what is inside....god damn it....!

  • I don't think these are fake. There is no evidence that there are fake SA5000 anywhere.

  • Hey DJAmtrax, just came across your vid and believe these are fake SA5000s or at the very least some cheaper version of them. SA5k earpads are taught and soft, you mentioned they're hard and they look like plastic?

  • is that real leather or like the pleather type material used on the MDR-V6/7506???

  • What do you think, is there huge diff. between the k701 and this model?

  • Have you given the audeze LCD 2 any thought?

  • i love the magnesium frame this headphone has

    !

  • But will it blend?

  • You sound like homer simpson. hahaha *like*

  • im mothafuckin want this fuckin shit

    fuckin amazing

  • These are Sony's best currently. They were designed for SACD use.

  • why does these cost so mutch compared to mdr-xb

  • It's not sony's best, it's the R10 lol

  • @xximanoobxx True, but they aren't even in production anymore, so the SA5000 is sony's CURRENT best.

  • @rockgod2131 Uh not the SA500, it's the MDR-Z1000

  • @xximanoobxx The Z1000 is a studio monitor. It's designed for a specific use. The SA5000 is still sony's top of the line. Trust me, I've heard the Z1000 and the SA1000 is much better. Neither are great all round headphones though.

  • Although these cans are made for studio use, I doubt that many studios actually use them. At this price, I would consider these for an audiophile. The most expensive headphones I've seen used in a professional setting are HD650's. I doubt many studios go beyond that price range. They have other forms of music reproduction, like from some high end $25,000 monitors.

  • @GunzTheDuel Reference headphones can run you up to $1400 (HD800, Audeze'e LCD-2, etc.), and are designed for the most accurate representation and would sure as hell be good for a studio setting. A lot of studios nowadays are using the Audio Technica ATH-M50s, actually.

  • @IamPinhead I know reference headphones go into the extreme price range but my point was that not many studios would use headphones in that price range. Professional recording studios would have little use for headphones because they would be using monitors (i'm talking about the mixing/mastering room).

On a different note, i've seen musicians use the the K240's more often then the ATH-50 (for personal monitoring). I don't consider myself an audiophile but I'm just inputing my observations.

  • @GunzTheDuel You're right, I should have mentioned the K240s. The benefit to having the expensive reference headphones is because of the lack of distortion at higher volumes and increased clarity. Granted, as you said they have other equipment for that purpose in the mixing room, but a pair of m50s can be a definite aid to that purpose.

  • @IamPinhead

the HD800 and Audeze LCD-2 and LCD-3 are far from being considered accurate headphones and would never suggest them for live field recording or monitoring. they'll only be good for playback use in my opinion. good for the audiophile world maybe, but professional use? no.

  • @DIRENGREY097 What do you mean? Headphones you mentioned, especially HD800 are extremely natural and accurate.

  • @derbigpr500

hd800 stock can be very bright sounding since they have a elevated top-end. there is a simple mod to tame the top-end bit but still not neutral in frequency response. thing though hd800 has loads of low-level detail though what the other flagship models in same price range don't have. there only fault is the brightness issue. the audeze lcd 2 and lcd3 are dark sound with very shelved midrange and treble response to be considered neutral.

  • Hi I'm Peter and i'm a headphone addict..

These are not the best Sony have to offer tho mate.

Check out the Sony MDR-R10 which are the most expensive cans i know..About 5k! Other great headphones you should try out is the HifiMan HE-6 and Audez'e LCD-2. What DAC/Amp are you using btw?

  • I planned on getting the Grado GS1000i soon. Stay tuned!

  • @hifiguy528

How do you afford all of this stuff? You must make 6 figures...

  • All metal and made in Japan? I didn't even know such headphones existed -_-

    How much? $700+?

  • @NicolXIX It lists for $699. I paid $198, new. It was a deal I could not pass. It's back to normal Amazon street price now.

  • @hifiguy528 What?!?

Do they sound similar to the HD 650?

And I have a question: Do you sell the headphones after reviewing them? (because you already have the "best" one (HD 800)...

  • @NicolXIX You haven't even heard the Grado PS1000, Ultrasones limited ed headphones that cost more around 1000~1500

  • Dude, I hate you right now : ) those headphones are frickin amazing!

@iunnox666 It's an unboxing. Why does it matter where it's unboxed?.

  • I don't have decent lighting around the table. I need to spend some money on some lights.

  • Why are you doing that on the floor? Don't you have a table?
