  • would be much better if a little bit faster...

    anyway, very good performance

  • thank. Both Carmignola and Vivaldi are the best! Bravo!

  • baroque n roll

  • too fast

  • @manachit1111

    did Vivaldi wrote how fast?

  • My heart is melting. Absolutely fenomenal!

  • @edvard1970 Another great thing about this performance: Vivaldi was born in Venice in 1678, lived, taught and composed in Venice, his whole life. And this performance is by a Venetian orchestra and soloist, in Venice. Such a thing, I have never heard or seen. The sound is incredibly beautiful, and the place is, also.

  • Heavy Metal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hello everybody, im trying to get into classical music and i could use some suggestion. vivaldi's 4 seasons is the first piece ive been blown away by if thats any help.

  • @jtoregan Vivaldi is baroque, not classical!

  • @jtoregan

Well the one thing about music that is still relevant centuries after its creation is that there is an incredible variety to choose from. I got hooked by baroque music specifically. In my case, George Fredrick Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks. To this day I'll start whistling it spontaneously. That being said, I own several Carmignola recordings, his interpretations of Vivaldi and Tartini are exquisite listening.

  • holy shit... I can imagine the feeling when you listen that music directly to your own ears...

  • THIS is the way this piece should ALWAYS be played!

  • Sweet Jesus!

  • THIS IS TRUE STORM!!

  • The very best ever ! Super speed Bravo MR Carmignola ! What you seem to demonstrate is the extend of theabilities of the baroque bow. It is just fantastic and breathtaking what speed one can reach with this type of bow...

  • The very best ever ! Super speed Bravo MR Carmignola !

  • I love Carmignola! His modern interpretation of the Four Seasons is just so touching!

  • interpretazione incredibile.

  • He is most handsome !

  • Meraviglioso!!!

  • WOW! FANTASTICO

  • è anche bello...

  • Fantastic. ยอดเยี่ยมมาก. Bravo!

  • Oh my GOD, that took my breath away, wished my Dad was here to see this. "BRAVO" *clap clap clap*

    awwwww total magic.

Absolulety stunning, I am like spell bound right now! :)

  • @Cathain78 then you know nothing about how vivaldi has intended it to play. Try analysing the original scores :)

  • @Cathain78 maybe... I'm italian, and i think that THIS is what Vivladi had in his mind... Probably the Maestra felt the summer as somewhat that rushes away... the idea of the "running away" is the theme of the piece... vivaldi would be proud of this... sorry if i made mistakes =))))

  • @picchi93

Interesting interpretation, I hadn't thought of it in that way.

I prefered the interpretation of people like Alberto Lizzio, and depicting the slower rumbling power of a summer storm, with faster streaks of lightening coming through the sky. I guess the genius of great art is that it means different things to different people.

  • @Cathain78 I'm sorry but this presto is the symbol of a summer storm, this is not about nuances and savour. The big savour of this piece is foundend in it's rythm, in the big harmonic tension that Vivaldi has created. If you want to "taste" then listen to Karajan's vivaldi...

  • @theanswer00

I appreciate your sentiments. I suppose it is subjective in how it is best enjoyed.

For me, a storm is about it's rumbling power & majesty, and not it's speed.

I do indeed prefer to savour the intricacy and craftmanship of this piece.

I feel to rush through it is a disservice. But I agree, different people appreciate different things. I'm not saying this is bad (hardly!) just that it's not to my particular taste.

  • @Cathain78 Yes I understand what you mean.. And I see that you are british, so you know what a real storm coming from the ocean actually is. But what if you imagine Venice during a 1700 summer day [something like a 1700 Las Vegas maybe], with all the people going away from a summer storm? Maybe Vivaldi was more interested in the chaos than the storm itself, as an italian summer storm it's not so majestic... it's particularly uncool actually, because it's very hot and very humid ehehe...

  • @Cathain78 well this is what I imagine

  • that's disgusting

  • Bravissimo! Vivaldi is smiling, content, jacked up at this!

  • this guy did vivaldi justice

  • favorite, by far

  • Is this video on a DVD?? :D woow!!

  • Seen this guy play live three times - blows my mind - no-one plays Vivaldi like Giuliano Carmignola! I think he has the spirit of the Red Priest inside him! PHEW!!!!

  • i usually hard rock and metal and NOT classical music, with the exception of some baroque stuff :)

  • BADASSSSS!

  • Lol, this sort of looks like some kind of a ritual...

  • I hear so much anger in the sounds of this piece.

  • carmignola suona bene ma l'orchestra è veramente imbarazzante

  • Best Baroque player is Gilles Colliard, France.

  • whooooo all the orchestra headbanging! Carmignola Rocks!

  • the hardest worker is the cellist

  • fantastic..and for me.. it's fast enough

  • Definately not fast enough.

  • @f1nalChance

Yes...very incredible....you should check out the Favio Biondi version ...its just out of this world in my opinion.

  • Splendid.

  • amazing performance. I love it!!!!!

  • Magnífico Carminogla!!!!!!

  • Exciting music video! Well done! TY!

  • SU-BLI-ME!!

  • Great video!! Where did this come from? I've been searching for the DVD.

Also, it's spelled "Carmignola," not "Carminogla." :-/

  • Brilliant. I listen to it repeatedly with my eyes closed..

  • Music full of power, hope, encouragement ...

    Excellent!

  • yeah, did u see his eyes at the end all the passion in that eyes...

  • At the beginning of this movement Vivaldi wrote "Presto- Tempo Impetuoso d'estate". This is more like "Presto- Tempo Supersonico! If the piece had have been any longer I would have been watching for first the smoke, and then the flames to begin leaping forth from his instrument. While Giuliano seems to be comfortable at that speed, the orchestra seems a bit ragged at that speed. Our band recorded this twice: Once for Decca, and once for Harmonia-Mundi.I think both of our recordings were cleaner.

  • Have you heard the C.D. they released of these concerti? Fabulous, the best I've heard.

  • Yes. He gave me a comp copy. He plays quite well, wouldn't you say? The only criticism I have regarding Venice Baroque is that they (or more precisely their conductor) tends to push the tempos of the more virtuosic pieces a bit beyond their abilities to play it cleanly and accurately. As a result faster pieces tend to sound a bit ragged around the edges. They sound fantastic on slow and medium tempo movements, so if they'd slow down just a hair's width they'd be touching perfection there too.

  • LOVE this! Vivaldi really did a great job when he wrote the four seasons! It's music, easy to understand and like, and still not to basic... 5 stars!

  • wow! listening to this it just sounds... warm somehow

  • He is handsome as well

  • its so good.... i am dreaming thanks

  • I love how they ended it! They slurred the note. I thoght that was so cool!

  • Giuliano Carminogla, "The God of violin"!

    Takes 5*

  • Fooly & cooly...

  • ...this is...adorable...I have no words left....

  • His first name isn't Carminogla. It's "Carmignola"

  • You mean his last name.... :)

  • I might add that I am a big Carmignola/Venice Baroque Orchestra fan and I'd encourage you all to check out their Vivaldi recordings. They have recorded many of his late violin concerti, some of which never before recorded, and these are the ones written for private patrons and some are pretty wild. Proof Vivaldi didn't just write "wallpaper music," and even the 4 Seasons can all sound pretty "hot" if performed well by a period orchestra and a soloist with Carmignola's technique!

  • OMG that's a really tightened bow, is that how it's supposed to be?

  • all baroque bows are like that

  • Yeah, and it's not so much that they are super tight but that the stick is made to curve slightly outward instead of inward. I own a snakewood baroque viola bow and it is just beautiful. I use it for contemporary church music too as it is quite responsive (but not really suited to the long lines of late Romantic music of course)

  • there is no piece of music that moves me more. incredible. what a talent. one day i will learn violin...i don't care how old...i will learn

  • I saw him with the Venice Baroque Orchestra in Lyon last thursday, it was just an amazing concert ! They're awesome !

  • i played this for my recital a few months ago. They do phenomenally so much better then I did...

  • I was looking for this performance, it is incredibly thrilling. thank you for posting.

  • very nice perfection 完美

  • Classical Heavy Metal! The violins sound so powerful!

  • So powerful! Surely one of the best interpretations

  • this is the revolution! A new way, a new vision: there is a before and an after in history. A have the cd: musicology new basement, listen to the last seconds: so fluent!

  • onderful. thank you ma'am

  • stunning beauty.. thanks for the share Petraworld, you are the best :)

  • thank you Petra :)

  • Ascolti come questo ti fanno "riinnamorare" di un pezzo così arcinoto che pensavi non ti potesse dire altro di più.

    Giuliano, sei sempre più bravo!!!

    Grande orchestra, splendida esecuzione!

  • STREPITOSO!!!

  • WOW!!! Violin playing is really alive and well!!! Thanks for posting this.

  • Simply the best, wow!

  • Divine!

  • Carmignola not Carminogla!!The equal of any violinist, Baroque or not.

  • Mutter go home.

  • yeah, mutter, go home and sleep. Let Carmignola do a PROPER presto Summer.

  • Exactly. I mean, when he and that orchestra plays they focus on the music as a whole, but if I hear Mutter's version it's like the focus is on her and that's a shame.

  • That's what she said

  • LOLOL exactly - Giuliano is the shizznit...esp with the Venice Baroque

  • God thank you, whoever posted this! Last time a guy posted this but somehow it got violated(WTF!) and it was deleted. From then I searched for this!

  • I just get chills whenever I watch this video =) so awesome..

  • Bur it's 'Summer' ;)

  • AWESOME.
