There are two perfect songs of this era. One is this and the other is the other one. I know which one I mean, but who else does? It starts< here she comes again.....
Used to frequent Erics club in Liverpool in the seventies an ive seen em all from The Clash to Joy Division. The best night i ever had was watchin The Saints.Top live band...
@ernestrebel, The Saints formed the same year as The Ramones and one year before The Sex Pistols, although the Saints are cool, when 7 years earlier you got The Stooges and MC5 goin much harder than they ever did.
@shackbhoy Most Ferocious ever in the top 10? I agree, Balls! The charts were often full of blistering rock, its just a matter of opinion what one was most 'Ferocious' and everyones choice is right, to them. A total bollocks up conversational non starter argument coz its just a simple matter of taste.
Mojo mag tries to intelectualise R'n'R, what fucking nonsense, its full of up the arse wankers who could spend all night opining about John Bonhams soiled nappies.
These guys were GREAT "LIVE" ... I remember it so well. The SWEAT pouring off Chris Bailey!! The Stage Door Tavern gig in particular in whatever year it was! Packed House ... SO HOT in there ... Must've been UNBEARABLE under the LIGHTS on-stage. Great times. I miss those early years of punk music in Sydney. I thought they'd never end (naive huh?!) Someone took my pic with Chris once at Leichhardt Hotel. I wonder whatever happened to that photo(?)
Time was when an appearance on TOTP guaranteed a rise in sales and progress up the charts. Well, I bought one, but I guess not many others did 'cos down they went- a great achievement, in my view...
Still one of the greatest 2 minute songs ever, and, as universalself has pointed out, one of the great endings.
It's summer, wind down the windows, crank the stereo up to max & go for a drive downtown-33 years on this record still scares the pants off of the stiffs!
da notare che portavano coraggiosamente i capelli lunghi in un periodo in cui fare punk e avere abbagliamento e capelli in un certo modo era d'obbligo
Agreed. the 45 version of this song kicks, but the album "re-record" on ETERNALLY YOURS is really lame. I miss the Saints, and thank them for some fine tunes from my youth.

Eternally COOL!
Proto punk from australia years before punk began (like the Ramone or Sex pistols etc). Shoulda made it huge but to much to soon as the saying goes.

Blasting guitars and driving beat, what a treat!
Also The Misunderstood`s "Children Of The Sun" and Love´s "7and 7 is" come to mind.

The most ferocious song to get in the top 40 , says Mojo magazine. Balls. Ever heard of a wee song called Ace Of Spades ?
shackbhoy 6 months ago
@shackbhoy I would say God Save The Queen or Anarchy in The UK atleast. Ace of Spades rocks

You said it..U2 one of the most over-rated bands ever.
Repeat all the OGWT series I say, and then I'd be happy to pay my tv license.

@ZLUGGO Makes me that the late punk Movement in 2000-2005 was directly influenced by that.
