One of the very best to ever hold a guitar, the record "Then Play On" is a favorite from Peter Green and the original Fleetwood Mac...a stunning and brilliant ton of outstanding players each member playing at their best level...wow, I was fortunate to hear them and see them live and I played their music a lot. Peter Green was great and that group of players were pure magic! listen to the 3 guitars kicking of that record....ouch!
As a guitarist and a lover of rock and blues, I worship at the altar of the Green God. I bought Fleetwood Mac Live at the Boston Tea Party in about '86. It was a German import and one of the first compact discs I ever got. Changed my life. And I quickly realized Greenie had influenced a lot of people - artists I was already a big fan of - like Santana and The Allman Brothers. I went out and got a Les Paul right away!
"Man of the World: must be one of the saddest songs ever written - "I just wish that I had never been born". And although his subsequent work never reached the same heights again, his resolve to continue making music almost equals that of Brian Wilson.
I find this such a great insight into such a wonderful talented man, having seen this documentary many times, its good to know, that after all the torment he went through,he looks at peace with himself, and back to what he does best.
@hexcane Hey,i do remember seeing that movie on youtube but i can't find it anymore, can you give me a title or something so i can find it.Also,i've seen another documentary about fleetwood mac first time in san francisco, taking owsley acid and tripping too much! I don't know if you saw that one though,do u know what i'm talking about? thank's
Don't forget Danny Kirwan, who suffered a fate similar to Greens. I understand since then he hasn't done as well. Too bad. He was as intense a blues player as Green, and perhaps more so.
@hexcane I agree; a lots of unanswered and un-asked questions. Could it have been PG had arranged to meet them at the airport - he was already planning for leave FM - only he knows what prior communications took place. It's such a horrible twist of fate that this Munich bunch were never identified, investigated or charged - they just stole a great musician's soul and he is still paying the price. Somebody must know who they were. Their road manager for instance.
@AspectFilmLtd I'm in the U.S. and I cannot find any dvds that will play here. All versions to buy online are compatible for "region 2" dvd players while the U.S. is "region 1". Do you know how I can find a region 1 dvd?
Too sad to watch : - ( Greenie is simply the best. No other guitar player
has given me as much joy. Greenie, Jeremy, and Danny were beyond compare. Too bad they all fell out of their prams. "The only man to ever make me sweat." -BB King on Peter Green. They cite the oft-repeated statement that the Mac outsold the Beatles and Stones combined in 1969. That was in UK album sales I believe.
Peter Green himself has said that he wasn't sure whether the LSD created the Schizophrenia, or just released it. Mick Fleetwood, people are still talking about it because he was the only one of the 60s Blues revival guitarists who could give Chuck Berry the willies
schizophrenia is not a disease you get from taking acid. drug abuse can precipitate the onset of the disease, but to blame taking acid for the development of schizophrenia is a misunderstanding of mental illness. dr dave
oh puleese, lay off Carlos---you sound like you think Santana did in Peter! Save your sanctimony for your pub mates. Stop crying about the tragedy and enjoy Green's incredible music. I do so every week, and I don't waste my energy on the maudlin, morose wah-wah.
Carlos Santata bangs on about his spritiual connections as if he is some sort of musical messiah with a god-given channel to musical expression.
He dismisses PG's problems and the effects of LSD and doesn't have the common grace to acknowledge that what he does now has largely been ripped off from the early playing of Peter Green - and rarely does his 'spiritual connection' ever produce music as heartfelt and soulful as all that early music by the true source of his inspiration.
@MrMeddled . I think it's important to be aware that Peter and Syd are two examples of people who had some psychological issues/damage before they took hallucinogenics. I don't know how anyone would recognize this within themselves but I know of many who were looking for a new view of life and found it but also a few who were damaged. Personally I felt very adapted to 'psychedelia' and very comfortable, haven't done LSD since '77 and don't want to but I feel like I gained much that has stayed
this is a trailer????? When does the film come out?????
And what did Carlos Santana say??? He doesn't believe or he doesn't blame LSD?????? Peter Green's BMW is beautiful....Carlos should be greatful for that!!!!!
"The people that did that to him" sounds interesting. Who did what to him? Did the other members of Fleetwood Mac trick him into taking drugs to get rid of him or was it the people in the Munich commune?
Mick Fleetwood says ..still talking about it 40 years later...thats whats interesting...People talk about it because Peter Green made Fleetwood Mac...he was a genius..and if he hadn't of succumbered to the hell of drugs...God knows what impact his music would've had on the world...a classical one off
The complete documentary has been posed twice that I am aware of. It has been removed I suspect by aspect film.
