  • Love them so much. See them live if you can!

  • So beyond the other element. I tried but "IT's" never comprehensive. "But, it does."

  • So beyond the other element. I tried but "IT's" never comprehensive.

  • @CastOutIn74 i totally agree, morrisseys voice singing this song would be like heaven

  • I honestly like this better than Morrissey. He was better with The Smiths anyways.

  • fukking tune

  • is that Anton Chugurh on drums?

  • Crimen Sollcitationis

  • @CastOutIn74 yeaa indeed :)

  • creo que tiene la voz mas hermosa y sexy que morrrisey

  • I hear Morrisssey, but also Psychedelic Furs. Great song - can't wait for the new CD!

  • One of my favorite songs of all time, from one of my favorite albums of all time.

  • i never get bored of this song.

  • UNA DE MIS BANDAS PREFERIDAS,VIVA MEXICO.

  • Goodness

  • Is it just me, or are all the real rock bands coming out of Canada? Metric, mallajube, the dears, etc?

  • @AriqoFlip It's not just you. Everything good comes from Canada. Heehee

  • the greatest song ever to come out of Montreal....

  • Comment removed

  • @CastOutIn74 thank you. morrissey's solo stuff isn't that great because johnny marr isnt backing him up. the smiths is one of the best bands of all time, but morrissey isnt some sort of god.

  • @CastOutIn74 lol @ no one deserves to be idolized. whatever. sometimes it helps. i mean obv at some point you'd hope they'd get over it but when you're 14, morrissey/bowie etc... what's wrong with idolizing them. could do a lot worse.

  • this guy needs a pompadour

  • morrissey loves copycat bands

  • @CastOutIn74 Morrissey would never cover this song since its evident this is ripping him off

  • Weird, been listening to them for 3 years and never made a morrissey comparison, his voice sounded to me like Damon Albarn's tho

  • @Alisterson me too :)

  • @CastOutIn74 i know

  • sounds nothing like morrissey dikheads

  • Why the Morrissey evaluations??? You have one of those alread.y.....similar isn't always the same.

  • YES VERY VERY MORRISSEY STYLE. GREAT SONG MORRISSEY NUMBER ONE

  • @CastOutIn74 hey its black morrissey! ;D

  • @CastOutIn74 many thumbs up haha

  • Forgive me but I think he's actually a better singer than Morrissey. I am a HUGE Smiths and Morrissey fan and I realize that is where he got his style, but I think his range is a little greater. I'm not saying they are better song writers than the Smiths or not giving credit where it's due, but I think his voice is amazing. It's kind of like Morrissey supercharged. Morrissey with muscle.

  • Why not,, we need another Morrisey on the bench....When Moz is gone , they can make a tribute band,,,,,

  • OMG thank you. I thought I was the only one who thought he sounded like Morrissey.

    I love Morrissey <3

  • Love this one. I have thought of Morrissey too. Especially with this song. I'm sure Morrissey was an influence whether direct or indirect.

  • this sounds like the cure.

  • solopara conocedores...

  • @fuckingaxe te apoyo

  • @CastOutIn74

    YES YES YES!!!!

  • What's up with all the Morrissey comparisons? Love the Mozz to death, but I think Murray has his own voice and style. And besides, whom did Mozz cop his singing style from? Take a listen to some old school Billy Fury records and I think you have an answer...

  • @Teetee33 I'm actually not a Morrissey fan, however Murray definitely is. He is huge on The Smiths. The comparisons are somewhat justified.

  • @arabiansanchez I know that Murray is a Morrissey fan. My point was that I don't know if it's totally fair to label him as a Morrissey wannabe because of his singing style. Morrissey has certainly copped a few things from other people he's admired (that iconic quiff of his, for starters), but most still, love him or hate him, recognize him as being one of a kind. I just think the same outlook should hold for Murray as well.

  • i love this song, but this video is teeerrible! that little kid swinging his arms really annoys me.... man, this song deserves a better video!

  • sounds like BlocParty

  • Glad to see a black person in rock. not that ghetto sh*t.

  • @bleedinggoths but sounds like BlocParty

  • @bleedinggoths , you are kiddin right? have you forgot about jimi hendrix? arthur lee? tv on the radio, bloc party.

there are alot of black ppl in rock.

  • @lejonkula Im not retarded. of course Ive heard of all of em. I was just sayin its great to see any black person in rock contributing to real music. you know singing or playin notes and makin creative sounds and lyrics. again, im not frickin stupid!

  • @bleedinggoths uhh...

  • damn the keyboard player adds emo look to the band. for godsake smile!

  • Fuck he does like Morissey, only this lot don't have any fucking decent tunes....yawn

  • @pawnsacrifice1 dude this is a great band i and who is morissey

  • @protecter77 Possibly the most original singer of the last 30 years...let's see how influential these lot are in 25 years time...I think we know the answer to that already.

  • Sounds like Morrissey...

  • exactly what I said before i read any comments......I mean it sounds like hes copying a song of his vocally as well as sounding like him. He sings better than me though I try to write songs but voice sucks

  • This is way better than Morrissey. Its not even close so don't compare them.

  • @xRyukashix ru having a fucking turkish?

  • Believe it or not, these guys hate the Morrissey comparisons.

  • Haha - I agree. I love em both.

  • hahaha! he should

  • Natalia *-*

  • 5 stars

  • I like it so much

    Me gusta bastante...

  • It's a fucking tune and three quarters....

    Bonus

  • Is it me, or does this guy sound like the love child of Damon Albarn from BLUR and Morrissey? I like this!

  • @persona19 please do

  • Your fucking stupid.

  • oh he is much better! Have no idea how familiar you are with this band, but check out a track called 'the second part' it blends the scale of hope of the states with those morrissey tinged vocals :)

  • when i first heard this, i thought i was listening to a Smiths song...which made me love it more :)

  • morrisey has certainly changed his appearance.

  • hahaha

  • :..(

  • depressing songs = good

  • This song so so so is on the soundtrack of my life. the melancholy years lol. absolutely awesome!

  • good song.. but kind of depressing.. i like it, but its kind of like ugh.. depressing..

    if you catch my drift.

  • best song - EVER!

  • I agree ... murray is the best black rock singer since , jimi hendrix and phil lynott , even though this is more indie i suppose than the other two , i can't actually think of any black indie band members except , maybe that guy in bloc party

  • yes! i love bloc party too! the dears' new album "missiles" is absolutly gorgeous!!! they are really one of my favourite bands.

  • wat abt Lenny Kravitz?

  • hahaha, Lenny Kravitz is NOT doin' Indie music.

  • ya but clemzzz above mentionned that murray is the best black rock singer ....dats why i mentionned Lenny

    :-p

  • i agree that murray is fantastic. I think alot of the members of TV on the Radio are black though... and the rapper k-os sings for broken social scene sometimes

  • don't you know TV on the Radio ?

  • ya but wat abt Lenny Kravitz?

  • I would agree too only if he'd be that good live too.. but in fact, he quite sucks in live performances, as the musicians do.. This band is good in writing and arranging songs, but they're awefully bad at performing.

  • that's astonishingly wrong

  • what a amazing song, the songtrack of my life

  • Morrissey is a musical genius, but he's also one f....ng racist! When i heard what he said about Pakistanis,i wanted to kick his ass hard.Enough about him, this band is beyond words!

  • best song ever, and awesome band,

    the dears rules!!!

  • man! where have I been? I love this band. Also, I think it's kind of endearing that in every video I've seen from them the front guy seems so uncomfortable. It's like he's not a headcase yet. Give him time. ;)

  • this guy should sing for the band gene then we could have a clone of morrissey lol

  • Ah, Gene, they were a great band.

  • We all know Morrissey doesn't like anyone but himself!

  • LOL

  • I don't think Morrissey ever expressed a displeasure for black people, i know he said he 'disliked Pakistanis immensely though'

  • how he disliked Pakistanis so much??

  • morrisey?

  • the bluecake yup, Morrissey all over

  • I heard this song when I was depressed :( all the feckin day, week, month 3 years ago :D

  • Damn they're so good. I was up late one night and watched the horrible Carson Daly, I'm glad I did because they played on it and I bought the album the next day.

  • Davvero bella!

  • THEY WILL PLAY THIS SONG IN MEXICO CITY NEXT FEB 14th .. check my tube ill record it

  • lead singer has an awesome voice, almost reminds me of Morrissey from the smiths toward the end of the song.

  • I love this tune

  • im in love with this song

  • good song,

but their best, in my opinion still "who are you, protector of universe?" xD tht music rocks!!!!

  • this is my theme song aha

fucking amazing i saw them on the 12th of dec with metric

  • better thanMorrisey, one of my all time favourites songs... amazing

  • it sounds like The Smiths !

  • wouldn't be surprised if that was their influence

  • From Wikipedia:

Lightburn has been called "the black Morrissey" [1] due to his vocal similarity (and shared penchant for somewhat dark lyrics) to the former The Smiths lead singer. Incidentally, The Dears toured as Morrissey's opening act during Morrissey's solo tour. His voice is also often compared to that of Damon Albarn[2]. Lightburn claims to be "absolutely fucking bored to death" with these recurrent comparisons[3]

  • lol

  • On MuchMusic when Murray was interviewed, he was told that he was being called "the black Morrissey" and asked what he thought of that. He responded, "It's partially true: I am black." Hilarious.

  • Best song I've heard so far by The Dears. Good stuff.

  • 1st time i heard this tune i instantly loved it. the whole opening bit before he even sings was good enough for me, but the rest of the song is great too.

  • "...and I promise not to cry anymore. All the reasons beat the crap out of me. Everyday when I wake up, they are waiting, but I promise not to cry anymore. 'Cause it's the same old plot, these days..."

    *sigh*

  • Great fucking tune, but what a garbage video!

  • i like the video

  • You would, wouldn't ya.

  • Well, the video's not bombastic enough. I mean, the final part is, like, the greatest aural orgasm ever. And the video can't stand that power.

  • Good song..lead singer must have trouble breathing through his nose his nostrils are so enclosed...i hear he is not really a good person either.

  • does it matters?

  • I retract my former statement, what i meant to say was that I had formed an ideal image of this singer based on his haunting voice. That being said I do find people of all skin shades equally beautiful and each has its fair share of unattractive denizens.

  • He is Daman Alburn and morrissey love child. Great singer and fucking awesome band.

  • its not really The Dears problem anymore since he fired everyone except Natalia (he might have considered it but being that its his wife and all...). The dears is murray lightburn. The music is not good enough to justify the ego. Its not like Morrissey was even that great in the first place (The smiths being good had a lot more to do with Johnny Marr and the rest of the band)

  • Murray Lightburn is the hugest douchebag ever. Anyone who's been in the montreal music scene for any length of time and had to deal with him close or far knows. He's claimed in an interview that van gogh never had to explain his work (so why should he). he's fired tons of people working on the last record for no valid reason at all. In fact for the most trivil reasons. No wonder the whole of the band left. He's a huge deluded twat. His music isnt worth the ego. He can fuck off and die.

  • A douchebag in the music business...imagine that. If he's a dick, that's The Dears' problem. I'm sure most people that watch this video just want to listen to music, not dissect their personalities. No one should care, unless Murray Lighburn comes to your house and takes a dump in your kitchen sink or something.

  • Great song, love it to pieces!

I'm also a big Moz fan, so what else can be expected ;).

  • our love dont mess with our love.... sweet

  • if anything he sounds like damon albarn

  • love this song!!!

  • this song is great

i love morrissey and yes they do sound like him

    a lot

  • I really can't see where the Morrisey comparisons are coming from, in all honesty. The way Lightbourne cracks out 'it's the SAME...' in the last chorus is brilliant, and way better than anything poor old fat Morrisey could do.

Easily their best song, and just a pity they've not really come close to matching it since then.

  • rad, monreal is where its at yo... peace out.

  • Manchester, so much to answer for!

  • mmm nice song!...

  • This tune is simply BREATHTAKING.

  • My favourite Dears song...

  • one of the band members is the daughter my my teacher!!!!

  • Canada must be the coolest place in the world..the dears, arcade fire, new pornographers, besnard lakes~~~(excellent check em) .Canada well and truly rocks!!

  • omg I know!! hahah I love Canada. Degrassi, Alanis Morrissette, ellen page, like you said arcade fire, Feist, and of course, the Dears.

  • Take it from someone who lives in it. You're right. lol

  • yet its one of safest, so its all good right lol

  • top tune and i think he sounds more like damon albarn than morrisey :D

  • absolutely can't stop playing this song

  • me too, it has like a 65 play count on my ipod

  • Love, Death cab too; thanks a bunch! =)

  • and speaking of songs you wont be able to stop listening to, try Death Cab for Cutie - Soul meet Body

  • I remember the first time I heard this I thought it WAS Mozza. I simply couldn't believe it - but what the hell you know? I still flippin love it and play it all the time and the rest of the album is stand up.

  • itookallthenames - How sad for you that you've nothing better to do with your life. Saying you like or dislike the band is fine but if you can't find anything better to do than critique their families and personal lives perhaps you should stick to listening to Britney Spears and the Spice Girls (who aren't about the music anyway?)

  • Great band!! i saw them in Cologne, germany 2006..was a great!..regards from Chile.

  • Well, yes here he sounds exactly like Morissey. So what?

  • i absolutely love the dears thanx for exposing them especially this song

  • That's just how he sounds. The Nickelback, Creed, and Pearl Jam guys, along with a thousand other dudes sound the same, but they are still pretty distinct. Shit, every emo band sounds the same and you're giving crap to the Dears? Fuck you!

  • just because other stuff is shit, it doesnt make this any better.

  • Nobody likes a musical bigot, if you don't like it... SHUT THE HELL UP AND LET EVERYONE ELSE ENJOY IT. Thank You.

  • This is a bit belated of a response, but how does one "rip off" a voice? Did he plagarize it? How does one go about doing that? Is there a site you can download them off of or something?

    Seriously.
