Not only is this song utter badass, but to think somebody actually programmed this completely blows my mind, even with today's technology it's hard to do...
@penumrocker25 I think that new RK was better than Sparkster. As well as the other Sparkster. If it only was about 10 or 5 dollars instead of 15 bucks I would give it 8/10.
@Baximus It's done by konami and it's one of their franchise. So licensing issues. Should have remade this in HD. And make it less freak'n hard to get the real ending.
@RevRazor01 You only had to play in normal to get the real ending, normal wasn't too bad. The only difference between normal and higher difficulties is a little message at the end saying "try hard mode" or "try very hard mode" or "try crazy hard mode" or "congrats". Nothing else is different, if you got the atmosphere re-entry fight, then you got the real ending.
I dont have 2 wait for virtual console release pf this game & Rocket Knight Adventures 2 for Genesis, cause i own the games & the original boxes with manuals.
When I first defeated the first boss...My first Expression to the Rocket Knight Adventures: "Oh man...that was an epic fight...I think I'm playing this still! :DD
The most under appreciated Genesis game. At least one of the most under appreciated. A great action platformer, with one of the best boss themes to date.
Why don't you like war games? Most games are about war. Rocket Knight adventures is about war. Contra is about war. Super Mario Brothers is about war. Even Sonic the Hedgehog. Are you just talking about First Person shooters based on war? Because there's as many of those out today as any other genre.
@afrojayjay How in the shit are Super Mario and Sonic "about" war, what the hell are you smoking? Please tell me I want to know how you perceive that?
Remember when Italy invaded that one country full of turtles and mushrooms? Super Mario Bros. is basically a dramatic reenactment of the events that day. Mario is, of course, Col. Mario "Moustache" Luigi.
When I listen to this music, I get a feeling that's kind of lost in new video game music: Sometimes in newer games, the music gets old when it loops over and over, but with this tune, the opposite happens - I WAIT for the loop, and savor the moment at 1:17 because it's just so satisfying when the beat comes back in and you get to hear the tune all over again. I love it!
@tbone2004 There were tons of companies back in the day. Always producing awesome tracks that stuck in our brains with their incredible sound and musical finesse. But you know what, mainstream music industry rarely gives them props. Konami, Capcom, Tecmo, Hudson, Nintendo, SEGA. All of these companies back in the late 80's to early 90's built soundtracks worthy of Grammy's, but their beautifully rendered, though primitive sounds, were not heard by spoiled ears.
hate to say this but this game was better than any sonic game on the genesis... yet many people dismissed it as a sonic knock off, when it played absolutely nothing like Sonic..........
Why are so many people thinking that 16 Bit video game music is MIDI? IT'S NOT! The original music is Z80 machine code running on the Genesis sound CPU, driving the YM2612 and SN76489 PSG chips.
@aztec005 i believe its on wii's arcade...but i want it for my 360 so i can max out the achievements in a day lol i masterd this game as a kid and een completed it with getting hit once. the game is just that damn addictive
I've been listening to this nonstop on my MP3 player, ripped from my MD2VA0 Genesis (said to have the worst sound of them all), after listening to this and watching reviews convinced me to buy RKA about 2 months ago.
Long story short, this NEVER gets old and has brought me to the realization Genesis music CAN top SNES music (and that's saying a lot as I was raised on an SNES and up until recently constantly held it higher than my Genesis).
2:00 is where my favorite part of this song starts. The slower version is awesome, but I like when a composer does a quicker paced version of the song. :)
Of all the sonic knockoffs of that era, this game was the only one that shined IMO. The music was great and the boss battles were definitely more challenging and diverse (especially compared to sonic games of that gen.) I will never forget the train boss of Zone 2, the pig fight of Zone 5 or the EPIC ikaruga/thunder force styled spaceship boss of Zone 6.

I love this game!
This song gives you the feeling that something's terribly wrong! Like there's a monster waiting in the basement to eat you!
Check out the angry bass guitar in this one!

Probably the best game I ever had for the Genesis and some of the boss fights were timeless.
