Daron's voice and guitar is so fucking epic, I have never come across such emotional distress in a song before. 'Should of been, could of been, would of been, would of been YOU!' If I was his ex, I would say the song is revenge enough, actions are not necessary (although being replaced in a relationship by Jessica Miller probably sucks too!).

To me, I hear a song of a betrayal, and how a person is so hurt he has rushing thoughts of revenge that are incoherent, bleeding in a sink, poisoning a drink, choke him with a link...

Clementine is a very specific reference to a child, a little girl to be specific. And just know I realize that could be symbolic to the actual girlfriend. He is morning the loss of innocence inside the relationship and the loss of the connection with a person he though he knew (not so innocent). he then became self destructive (bleeding/poisoning/choking).
