2008 and later Ninja 250's are substantially slower and dumbed down then the earlier generation (which I own). If you don't know, the difference is 2 whole seconds 0-60 and 1.5 seconds in a 1/4 mile. 'o8+ traps in at 81 mph, and the earlier generation traps in at 88 mph. The 'o7 and earlier 250's get to 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. Only the new Mustang GT can compete with the 250. Reality check time.

Yes, with NOS turbo-charged modded yadda yadda car you might be able to keep up with or pull ahead of a Ninja 250R. It's MSRP is like $3400-3700 brand new.
Someone could get a used for for $2000 and you could spend $50-100,000 on a car and not be much faster off the line. I find that pretty awesome.

I say start with a 6 then get a 1k as soon as your comfortable and can ride. Some people don't like 1ks because they say they are harder to do turns butttt I don't think so.

The problem is people let the bike take control, if you only stay inside your comfort range and don't try and show off then you shouldn't have to many issues barring someone else doesn't tbone you :). Actually selling my 1k but I'll have another one in 2 years when I'm back stateside.

is the mustang automatic? jw. i have an 08 250 nd it beats (off the line) an automatic infiniti g35 sedan with i believe 275-300 hp at the crank but top speed obviously the ninja loses there
i raced my friends g35 sedan 6mt with intake and exhaust. i killed him to 80km/h then he caught up near 100km/h, at 110km/h he passed me :( lol. i only got a headstart cause he's got wheel spin to tame. i have VERY good launches i can consistently get under 7 secs to 100 km/h
